It may have something to do with heat tolerances, or other considerations. The early DSLRs with HD video overheat if you record with them too long. They may also wish to not have the camera compete *too* well with their camcorder lines.
I have an aluminum intel macbook and am thinking of buying this camera. Have you found any programs for mac that accept the hd movie files for editing?
I really doubt that is why. It's probably because a 15 min HD video file is so big that it has trouble handling anything larger on a memory card - as opposed to tape, which is practically endless.

It does, you dont even need to convert the video just upload it to TH-cam!

I'm disappointed, this camera is NOT WATERPROOF. It lets in lots of water in both compartments, false advertising, terrible design, do not buy.
