Some correction. The other side of Penang after crossing second bridge is Batu Kawan. Seberang Prai is the side after crossing the first bridge. I used to travelled from Penang island to south via plenty of bus company. The advantage of Aeroline compared to other cheaper bus is attendant, meals, blanket, headphone, and pantry. And also Aeroline is the only bus has bathroom attached inside. Actually you can get almost similar luxury with other cheaper bus. The struggle with no-bathroom bus is the passengers need to wait until bus stop at the rest area to do the bathroom business. My preparation for this situation for long journey is avoid drink so much water.
Being reunited with your bike must have been surreal. Those two plus years of border closures certainly changed the perspective of frequent travellers such as myself.
Great bus company. Local said it was the priciest and the best number 1 bus coach in Malaysia. The bus bathroom inside. It's much needed in a long journey. But the negative side especially on the aeroline penang station, there's no chairs outside of the station.
What a journey and I can't believe that was so many months ago even before your Sumatra trip. That was the first time we met again after the pandemic. Btw, that view from the seat was indeed great. Not sure if I can withstand the hot sun but great to see it on video :)
Good video. I watched all of it without fast forwarding the video or making it go faster. Anyway plz dont spend too much time at the rest areas. Some buses might accidentally leave u stranded at rest areas. Plz keep an eye on ur bus and dont stray too far from it.
Perhaps I expect too much, but I always think about what I would do if I were the person working there. And I'm pretty sure that I would offer a lot more information and help. I would enjoy helping people have a better experience on the bus. It's rare to find customer service that lives up to that level. 😀
@@PlanetDoug i think you are right. Those non-technical issue that would bring customer to come back again. Not just being a regular customer but a loyal customer because of services they provided.
I was very interested in your experience on Aeroline. I have looked at it in the past, but could not justify the added expense. The question in my life is if it is worth the value for the money? After watching this I can say I am more convinced that it would not be a good value for me and the way I travel. I appreciate your documentation of the experience and publishing the video. Thanks for another good video, Doug!
I think I could do that because the Rode microphone is very sensitive. It is designed as a lavalier microphone and picks up the audio from your voice very well. You don't have to speak very loudly to use it.
That's probably okay. It isn't a super-long trip. Plus, the only way I could get this Aeroline bus was by making the long trip to their office first. So I had to take an expensive GRAB car to travel all the way from Georgetown to their office. I think I could have gotten one of the old buses right from Georgetown. It would have been much more convenient.

Wow, connecting the dot, post pandemic unification Doug beloved bike
We don't even have these busses in Europe.. the Netherlands..to go from city to city...👍
Last time i ride the bus from Penang, the bus stop in front of the counter.

Great video. Tq
You're welcome. I figured I had heard so much about that luxury bus, I had to try it for myself. 👍

I never tried Aeroline, it's pretty expensive, like almost double the cost :) I love FirstCoach, it's basic but very clean.
Did I miss something ? How did you find an empty front seat ? Did someone get off at the rest stop ?
Do you have the bicycle you had stored in KL when you were in Thailand?
Yess customer service is essential

Did you try out the chair massage function that's built into the seats?
Even the FRIDAY sign is peeling off as nobody in the establishment bothered to maintain it.
Around Ipoh has some interesting hills.

Same here. I think its more of a convenience, ie for ppl who live around Queensbay.
Some very nice limestone Hindu caves around Ipoh.
Aeroline gives half price tickets for children. Only rm30 from Penang to KL, vice-versa.
Did you have to show your passport to get a bus ticket?
Another super cool vlog
I would have tip the grab driver $rm5 to cover the parking fees.
It would be interesting if a electric bicycle would be allowed across the bridge. Some are fairly fast.
It's the second tallest building in the world.
How did you managed to talk so loud without disturbing the passengers?😂

So sad i got the old bus..😢😢😢

Better by night train, bed, shower included.
You are an amazing storyteller😊
Questions answered.
Aeroline management please take heed. You staffs are not properly trained. And service over rated.
