Yeah. Sterling K. Brown deserves a lot more props for his voice acting this episode. You can feel his pain, hatred, and also unstable insanity. He walks the line between “evil genius” and “uncontrollable psychopath” so well
Angstrom Levy had my sympathy at first because of his condition and all of the bad encounters with Invincible the other versions of him had. But in short, he’s practically a mental patient with literally many voices and minds in his own head and can’t even keep track which are his own. Now someone with such a unstable mind with dimensional hopping powers is someone I imagine is much too dangerous to let loose, especially since he has no problem hurting a helpless woman and a baby no matter how justified he tries to make it seem.
One of my all-time favorite villains because he's so easy to identify with at first and then has circumstances lead to a logical yet indefensible hatred of Mark and his family.
Yet unlike a mental patient those weren't delusions as they all happened in reality (although different realities) which makes it all the harder since Angstrom Levy's decent into villainy was all caused by spiraling set of circumstances that could've been avoided. For instance, if Mark disobeyed Cecil and listened to Angstrom (though unlikely to happen since this his 1st mission back after the Omni-man incident yet he does end up disobeying Cecil anyway later when goes saves the Fish people, goes to Thraxan planet, etc. but that's neither here nor there) or if Angstrom chose to go against his moral/ethical code and let Mark possibly be killed by the alternate universe Maulers for the "greater good" that he could bring. At the end of the day it's sad and I feel like death could not come to a person as sympathetic as Angstrom nor could the hand that brought his death, Mark Grayson, be just as sympathetic if not more so, even empathetic.
I’m pretty sure that doesn’t take away the fact that mark in however many dimensions was a piece of sht and it makes sense why he wants to kill mark and his family
Levy does not have my sympathy. He has a million versions of him inside, and dimensional hopping powers. He could have done OTHER things. He could have helped other dimensions along with working out his revenge.

I love the idea behind Angstrom being used to represent Mark’s character. His mind has been jumbled up with all of the memories of his counterparts and the vast majority of universes show Mark embracing being a Viltrumite. The implication is that even though this Mark is a hero, he still has similar traits to his counterparts when it comes to violence. Mark’s decision at the end represents that Mark still feels that same rage that is emblematic of Viltrumites and now Mark has to wrestle with the fact that deep down he can be just as aggressive as a Viltrumite. Mark beat Angstrom the same way Nolan beat Mark in the Season 1 finale. Essentially the multiverse is used as a way to explore Mark’s character as opposed to fanservice cameos……although those Spider-Man and Batman scenes were fire 😏 Josh Keaton stays playing Spiders (Spider-Man, Black Spider in YJ, and now Agent Spider) and it feels good 😎
Put another way, our Mark is a good person… but not because he’s inherently predisposed to goodness but because he *chooses* to be good. Which is all the more impactful because most versions of him choose not to be… This is also why people like Superman’s character at his best yet too many others don’t get it, unfortunately. Mark did prove Angstrom Levy right, that Mark is a killer (which is what he needs to be when fighting Viltrumites). And he was in the same position that Nolan was in while beating up Mark in the season 1 finale.
He didn't. Mark hasn't killed anyone innocent like his alternate versions, and he did not enjoy or felt indifference for what he did. Angstrom Levy deserved what he got.
@Juan-zs6jt You look at him as a bad guy, but you see where he came from. What Mark did it matters so him stopping the other Matks isn't a good thing ?
with how things are obvious parodies at times it wouldn't surprise me if viltramites work like sayans from dragonball where their human hybrids have a higher potential. he might get to a point where he can stop them without needing to kill them unlike his current point which he could probably kill them if he wasn't holding back.
that was a heavy and beautifully written episode. It showed alot of the struggles a human superhero would go through and something not shown enough in this genre. you also done the Alan smile again. Makes me smile everytime it's just funny and cute how happy you are whenever he appears.
Fun thing to notice: Mark did the same combo to Angstrom his dad almost finished on him. Nolan just didn't do the double hammer fist to finish Mark off, but Mark did that to Angstrom. That probably fuels his feelings of guilt and similarity to his father even further.
The story is being adapted almost literally. There are a few changes and some are small things like the order in which some events happen. They're more or less the same but they don't happen exactly when I was expecting them. Other changes are potentially big things like Shrinking Rae surviving that encounter with the Lizard League. I read somewhere that for some reason they don't have the rights for every hero that should appear in future seasons so they probably kept her alive to fill some of the gaps left by those characters. Mark and Amber's relationship is more or less the same but I thought they handled it better in this version... well except for season 1, I was confused with how they did that part. The most important part that changed is their encounter with Anissa, in the comics that doesn't happen but adding it to the mix was a good decision and it gave them a very good and believable reason to end their relationship. Anissa does show up by surprise in the comics but under different circumstances.
Lol we had very different reactions to that last line. Took your breath away, me and my military humor thought it was the funniest thing I've ever heard
The whole Batman bit was originally part of the Spider-man crossover. Mark had a whole thing where he guessed the Avenger's superhero names based off of Pete's... Robot-man, Claw-man, Flag-man, Fabio-man, Bat-woman, and uh... Black-man?
The two unnamed characters seen with the Future Guardians are from another comic Kirkman did called Capes Inc. It's about superheroes who do shift work, clocking in from 9-5, having to request permission for overtime and all. The characters were Kid Thor and Knockout, and they crossed over with Invincible all the time. I didn't think they'd bring them in because I thought we'd have seen them already, so I got super excited when they showed up on screen
29:18 speed of light (or faster) All Mark needs is Eve. :) 31:24 Of course he loves Eve (who doesn't? 😅). He had such a crsuh on her (since begining), she had a crsuh on him. ;)
I loved that they used Angstrom's powers to show several other popular universes. The Walking Dead one totally flew over my head, because I haven't actually watched it properly yet. The talking dinosaurs one was fun to see, Spider-Man and Doc Ock was cool, and the Batman cameo was just funny.
All the crazy stuff is fun, I still think that my favorite stuff from this series is Mark and Debbie's scenes together. A normal yet very special relationship. That end line from Nolan made me laugh so loud.
That scene in the house was by far the most intense scene in the entire show, or at least equal to the ending of season 1, had my heart pounding and my jaw on the floor when Levy broke Debbie's arm. I knew that seeing Debbie or Oliver get hurt would be the thing to push Mark over the edge, which he really needed to finally see he has to get better to protect the planet, and seeing Nolan say he regrets what he did and even misses Debbie, those are feelings Viltrumites just don't have. So much character development in this episode, the voice actors did an amazing job, and I gotta admit that black and yellow evil Mark suit with the cape was kinda dope looking!
Feelings they’re not *meant* to have… Have they bred them out or did they condition them out of their race? They certainly tried to, at least, and it speaks volumes of how much it’s messed up not just their world but many across the universe as a consequence of their hubris.
They renew the show for season 3 at the same time ad season 2. So they are already deep into production. The new season should be out next year barring another Hollywood strike...
Angstrom Levy wanted to save the world, I think in this episode he did. He taught Mark the lesson that Nolan was trying to teach in episode four, if he wants to win he can’t hold back. I can’t wait for season 3, but I guess I’ll have to. Hope it's not too long a wait.
I read somewhere they had prepared for season 3 in some way so it wouldn't be as long of a wait (like maybe 1 year between seasons). Take it with a grain of salt, not sure what the original source were
@@guiffisch It's already in development. They've been working on it while finishing the animation for season 2. There's a real chance we get it next spring.
This show is proof that naturalistic dialogue can still be heavy and be taken seriously. It still carries gravitas, while being MUCH more believable. What seems like "sloppy" or "lazy" dialogue to *some* people is just writers creating dialogue the way people ACTUALLY talk to each other.
I think one of the best lines in this episode was Eve telling Mark he “doesn’t deserve this”. These couple words speak volume to her character and the dynamic of their relationship. I’m hopeful Mark takes older Eve’s advice and acts on it soon.
God what a fantastic episode this was. I watched it immediately as soon as it released and I'm still thinking about it. I'm soooooo happy with the way they resolved the Rudy and Monster Girl situation. It wasn't just about Rudy being wrong, they *both* fucked up. And they were able to be real with each other and admit how terrible they both are at communication. lol Angstrom's story is way more tragic than I expected. I thought he was going to somehow turn around and team-up with the good guys... nope. He started out with the best of intentions, had a plan to help fight the good fight... and then it backfired, driving him insane with rage. There was nothing Mark could have done, the man couldn't be reasoned with. Even if Mark managed to knock him out and imprison him... he could just portal out in a second. There is a silver lining, though. Angstrom taught Mark a lesson that he absolutely needed: Mark needs to learn how to fight without holding back, but to also have enough presence-of-mind to still remain in control of himself. Man, I cannot *wait* to see how Allan and Nolan break out of jail! This was a team up that I didn't expect but am absolutely excited to see!
Head-canon: Agent Spider was there for the big spider chase in ATSV and after everything with Miguel he decided to bail (hence why he seems annoyed by multiverse stuff)
Oh absolutely. The only difference is the suit and name, and we already know that not every spiderman in the spiderverse needs to be called spiderman. If scarlet spider can be here, agent spider can
35:55 "Rudy is full grown robot, and Rex is in a sentry thing" That's not what happened. Only Robot was there, but Eve called him Rex, for some reason. Either Rex is now fighting as Robot, or Rudy is now going by Rex. I wonder what happened in that timeline.
I'd call Cecil a "Neutral Good" sort of character. He is determined to protect the planet, but no ethical boundry is sacred in the pursuit of that goal, even if it goes against his own morals.
So far, pretty true to the comic! He did kill Angstrom, and that line "I thought you were stronger," is very iconic for the comic. In fact, every episode of this season has had a quote from the comics as the episode title! The biggest changes are to Debbie (we don't really get to see her NEARLY enough), to Amber (so much better written in the show now...), and of course the Angstrom Fight did change. For instance, Invincible did a real crossover with Spider-Man! But they can't do that for the show.
Interesting tidbit, Levy says that he's never encountered Oliver before, which means this is the only dimension where Nolan left earth, which means this is the only dimension where both Nolan and Mark turned out to be good guys, or as close to good as Nolan gets I guess
The only real change from the comic from this Episode, was Spider-Man. In the comics, they had a full on crossover, where Invincible appeared in an issue of Marvel Team-up. Robert Kirkman was writing both books at the time, and Disney didn't own Marvel yet, so crossovers were easier. But for the show, they had to change it.
I don't know if I could contain my rage enough in that moment to not kill angstrom. I feel like that's. Also, what Mark is going through is that he has a little bit of his dad in him when it comes to anger and rage and I know that I have that too. My dad has anger management issues Aunt. Luckily I've learned how to kind of control that, but I have always been afraid of what my rage might lead me to do.
0:44 i mean, thats literally what happened tho..? She chose not to kill him. So yes she couldve easly killed him Viltrumites get stronger with age and when they survive deadly injuries/aka experience. Anissa is older and more experienced than mark, therefore hes weaker. Even if he had the intent to kill her it wouldnt have changed anything, because hes younger and less experienced. Thats the power scaling in this show
The thing that always bugged me in the comics and now in the show with the whole "Mark is stuck on a dead Earth" thing is that he can fly in space. Sure, it is an alternate universe, space is big, and Mark doesn't actually know where anything is, but there is also no reason he has to just stay on Earth the whole time. Go see if this universe has Martians. Go look for Allen and the C.O.P. Or even go find the Viltrumites. Plus, someone out there could have the ability to send you home.
after last episode's animation callout, i can't help thinking that mark's, debbie's and nolan's bruised right eyes must be another of their aforementioned time-and-labor-saving cheats ...
Levy did say that Debbie joined Nolan and Mark in many dimensions, so this Debbie, like this Mark, is different and special. Did this Debbie change Nolan, or was this Nolan capable of being changed? Was it Debbie or Amber or Eve or something else that made this Mark stand against his father, and that was what started Nolan on his own path? Or was it always in this Nolan, since he wrote about the way to defeat the Empire in his books?
A lot of people forget it but in S1 there was a bit about a mummy coming alive but then is sealed in by Mark and Nolan flying through the desert super fast. Now Mark accidentally sealed in the daughter of the original mercenary too XD
What I want to see is Mark coming to the realization that him being Invincible is a full-time job as a Private Military Contractor (mercenary), and therefore, negotiate with Cecil to come up with a compensation package for everything he’s doing, and much like the GI Bill, reward him with college and benefits/opportunities to make something out of all this blood, sweat, and tears he’s putting into saving the world. But more than that, I want Cecil to come to Mark and say “I’ll give you the coaching and tech you need to leverage your skills, you give me your time and all your effort” to solve the incoming Viltrumite threat.
Another fun fact, Spiderman actually tried to join and help Mark, hence when Mark came back he had a web on his back, Spiderman tagged him with web to be pulled through the portal and follow Mark but didn't make it through
They got me with Levy. Given his backstory and the build-up with him early in the season, I really thought they were going to do more with him. Maybe they still will: they shied away from showing us his body, which is odd considering that this show has never shied away from gruesomeness before. Everybody glosses over the "shut up, Rex," line from future Eve. She said Rex, not Rudy. Why is Rex talking like Rudy and wearing his armor? Also, when Nolan said he misses his wife, my immediate thought was, "which one?"
Cool detail but ALL 3 Graysons had black right eyes. Debbie and Mark from Levy hitting them, and Nolan from the torture and conditioning at the Viltrumite prison. That and “I think… I miss my wife.” really goes to show that family is stronger than you think. Also, funny story but I read the full series a while ago but forgot Kate didn’t actually die, so when she did in the show my first thought was “Why didn’t she just make the original of herself hidden and let a copy roam the world?” lmao
If you’ve watched all of Season 1 & 2, you could safely read up to issue 41 of the comics and not spoil any future events, a few events from the show would be missing and still yet to come. There’s also a Teen Team origin special, I’d skip that as it may get adapted, like the Atom Eve special did. It’s pretty much a remixed version of the comic, all the major story beats are there. But I will say that they serve very different mediums, the comic goes a lot wider and has a lot more commentary on the superhero genre itself, pulling from an even wider world of characters. The show goes deeper into the emotional side of things with somewhat fewer characters. The story for the show might be a little to slow for comics, and the version of the comics might be a bit too chaotic for TV as a direct adaptation. My 2 cents! Been very much enjoying your reactions and thoughts as someone who hasn’t read the books! Reminds of my days waiting for the comic to come out every month or so. Anyhow, read the books, but only up to 41! And then do a comparison video! Cheers!

"I thought you were stronger" can mean either him referring to Levy or himself, and both cases are so depressing!
Mark saying it after killing Levy was so sad. Steven did amazing, I felt that pain
He obviously means levy there is nothing else there
@@Agent-KD6-3.7 he thought he, himself was stronger, as in being able to hold back his anger and avoid killing.
@@scot9624 I agree. That's what I first thought of when he said it. He wasn't strong enough to keep himself in check and not kill.
@@scot9624no, in the context of the scene and the episode that's not what he meant at all.
When he broke Debbie’s arm I lost it, some of these scenes are so hard to watch
Your reactions are so real! Theres so many stone faced reaction channels out there, but youre so much more human and authentic. I love your videos!
The mummy scene was in the first season. Thats how the dad got in there. 😊
Cringe emoji
The whole Batman bit was originally part of the Spider-man crossover. Mark had a whole thing where he guessed the Avenger's superhero names based off of Pete's... Robot-man, Claw-man, Flag-man, Fabio-man, Bat-woman, and uh... Black-man?
As far as I remember he had the same interaction with batman in the comic
Nope, he spent the whole crossover needling Pete about how his name was lame and lazy. Source? Read it again yesterday.
@@adamcarlson2192 you're talking about the full crossover issue, I'm talking about invincible #33, he says almost the exact same line to batman
@@hungrymidget3896 You're right! I guess I forgot about it since the almost exact same line is used with Spidey too!
I hate people who act so smug in youtube comments when they're wrong asf lol you sound annoying asf
Im glad Mark did what needed to be done. So few heroes do in comics.
Same. But it broke him. Not sure it was worth it.
@@funnylilgalreacts To save his mom and brother, it was.
He did it because he was angry. He didnt care about anything. And he bashed his head like his father did to him. Thats why he says you werent there
@funnylilgalreacts It was, he saved his family and that's all that matters.
@Agent-KD6-3.7 Not to be rude but your stating the obvious. He still did what needed to be done.
Favourite detail of this episode is that Mark beating in Angstrums face is animated almost exactly like Nolan beating in Marks in S1E8
29:18 speed of light (or faster)
All Mark needs is Eve. :) 31:24 Of course he loves Eve (who doesn't? 😅). He had such a crsuh on her (since begining), she had a crsuh on him. ;)
I like that they keep the running gag with the mummy lol
I hope these two don't die though.
Loving your reactions, Angela. I hope your closed captions didn't spoil Kate being alive moment
It did but it also didn’t
Love was the gateway that brought Nolan to his knees.
That scream that Oliver let out when his head hit the floor triggered my fight or flight response. I almost punched my monitor.
Given his unique physiology, I don’t want to imagine the kind of trauma he’s experiencing… or how it’s going to affect him when he gets older.
Nolan, Mark, and Debbie all have the same eye out of commission. They now each have the same number of useful eyes as Allen...
Saw people online mad about not being left on a big cliffhanger but god what a gut punch of a final line
I think it’s 100% a huge cliffhanger! Nolan admitting that he misses Debbie is huge! Turning away from being a Viltrumite, that’s a big deal
11:14 "...I like the insides of your brains on the floor!" 😱😂😂😂😂
The voice acting of "I miss my wife" is just top shelf! It really conveys sadness and yearning, imo.
The end, when he said he misses his wife. Smh so devastating. What's EVEN SWEETER than revenge? Redemption.
27:55 Finally someone said it loll, they could have done this in another episode rather than taking time away from the finale 😭
I mean it's important later so...
No
Now to wait about 2 years. Maybe 1-1 1/2 if we're lucky. 😢 💜
🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
They renew the show for season 3 at the same time ad season 2. So they are already deep into production. The new season should be out next year barring another Hollywood strike...
Remember when Cecil told Donald no one is supposed to carry that much trauma
Nolan is so interesting it almost overshadows the main character….maybe its his voice acting is soooo good…
Angstrom Levy wanted to save the world, I think in this episode he did. He taught Mark the lesson that Nolan was trying to teach in episode four, if he wants to win he can’t hold back. I can’t wait for season 3, but I guess I’ll have to. Hope it's not too long a wait.
I really like that we see Mark struggling with the killing aspect. They're taking the hard way with the writing and it's awesome.
Love that Nolan is basically still the reigning "Buff Daddy" of the superhero universe :P
He really is 😂
now we wait for probably another 2 years to get season 3 😢
I read somewhere they had prepared for season 3 in some way so it wouldn't be as long of a wait (like maybe 1 year between seasons). Take it with a grain of salt, not sure what the original source were
@@nihlify oh, I hope so! I am more hyped for season 3 than I was for season 2 tbh
@@guiffisch It's already in development. They've been working on it while finishing the animation for season 2. There's a real chance we get it next spring.
Animation takes a loooooong time. - Filip Schaff
I love that some of the other Marks have different outfits. It gives a little more to the characters other than just Mark bur from another universe.
And they were able to be real with each other and admit how terrible they both are at communication. lol
Angstrom's story is way more tragic than I expected.
If scarlet spider can be here, agent spider can
35:55 "Rudy is full grown robot, and Rex is in a sentry thing"
That's not what happened. Only Robot was there, but Eve called him Rex, for some reason. Either Rex is now fighting as Robot, or Rudy is now going by Rex. I wonder what happened in that timeline.
i assumed that meant Rudy was dead.
I literally wait for your video uploads every week
Eve did not call robot "Rudy". She called him "Rex".
Was hoping to wake up this morning to find this. Yes!
"It's over. After everything... This feels... Anticlimact-"
I'd call Cecil a "Neutral Good" sort of character. He is determined to protect the planet, but no ethical boundry is sacred in the pursuit of that goal, even if it goes against his own morals.
I could watch a whole episode of Allen the Alien & Nolan traveling together. JK Simmons and Seth Rogens are goats. 🙌🏼
They are very faithful to the source material.
Season 3 is coming February 6th (with no mid season break)
Can't wait for you to react to Season 3 once it releases! Heard that it's possible for it to come out this year.
@@mcgfn Delete this. Don't go posting spoilers.
Man pour one out for your editor who had to blacken all that blood this episode 😂
He’s the best
Interesting tidbit, Levy says that he's never encountered Oliver before, which means this is the only dimension where Nolan left earth, which means this is the only dimension where both Nolan and Mark turned out to be good guys, or as close to good as Nolan gets I guess
in C programming, you start counting at zero.
love it the way they did that.
The mummy bit is becoming a running gag at this point.
Everything in this season is almost 1 to 1 as it is in the comics
The only real change from the comic from this Episode, was Spider-Man. In the comics, they had a full on crossover, where Invincible appeared in an issue of Marvel Team-up. Robert Kirkman was writing both books at the time, and Disney didn't own Marvel yet, so crossovers were easier. But for the show, they had to change it.
18:31 we need a spinoff that follows what happened to those two.
If you think about it Angstrom made this version of Mark into a killer so he caused the very thing he tried to prevent
A better answer to 'How do you know the difference?' would have been saying 'The bad guys don't feel as bad as you do right now.'
WAIT WHAAAAT YOY ARE A SPACEBALLS FAN?!?!?! OMG ok I'm subbing like this instant
Who doesn't love a great mustache!☺️😅
0:44 i mean, thats literally what happened tho..? She chose not to kill him.
So yes she couldve easly killed him
Viltrumites get stronger with age and when they survive deadly injuries/aka experience.
Btw the ripoff Spiderman was Spiderman in the original comics haha
I hope they don't die as well...
Cecil is a shady guy and mark, rightfully, doesn't completely trust him. But he's also influenced by how his dad interacted with Cecil too.
The fight tween mark and angstrom plays out here mostly the same as the comics
The Immortal was Abraham Lincoln but the literal Holy Grail in his cabin would suggest he was also … someone else. …
And now we wait two years for the first half of season 3 >.
Love your reactions
Cool detail but ALL 3 Graysons had black right eyes. Debbie and Mark from Levy hitting them, and Nolan from the torture and conditioning at the Viltrumite prison. That and “I think… I miss my wife.” really goes to show that family is stronger than you think.
Also, funny story but I read the full series a while ago but forgot Kate didn’t actually die, so when she did in the show my first thought was “Why didn’t she just make the original of herself hidden and let a copy roam the world?” lmao
Mark really went full Negan on Levy
"I think ... i miss my wife"
"Which one ?"
Cheers!
