Thanks for the inspiration on how to use the wax paper without embossing machine, I just purchased wax paper, have grandmother's roller now to find embossing folders to make my own without a machine. Love your channel and your creative ideas. TFS.💗💖

This is a wonderful idea. I love the look of the wax paper once embossed. It seems to give it a bit of heft as well as the beautiful design. I loved the look of the purple printed paper attached to the envelope flap, and the old photos placed inside the pocket. Just beautiful will definitely try with my new little manual embossing machine. Thanks so much for sharing.

I find it so fascinating how the wax paper turns translucent when you heat it. I’d forgotten about trying this so I really need to give it a go. How long have you had your large machine? I’ll be very anxious to know if you have issues with the plates warping. I waited forever to buy my large Gemini and I hate it because of the warping. Loved watching you share your swap and your thought process. Back to finish watching but I needed to pop the comment in because knowing me I’d likely forget what I wanted to say. Patti
Thank you Patty. For you lovely comment. The embossing machine is brand-new. The plates have not warped and only time will tell as I haven’t used it enough. I think though that plates warping is a standard expectation on all machines and not something to be overly worried about. Performance shouldn’t be lost as contact will still be made to apply the correct pressure even if the plates turn into banana shapes! When putting plastic under pressure this is always going to be the result overtime, but in the same way you can’t walk a thousand miles in a pair of shoes and expect them to be brand-new at the end. However the plates on this machine are meant to be toughened, there are reviews from Tim holtz on TH-cam with his proper demonstration where he addressed this issue and it wasn’t a problem. Just check that replacements plates are available down the road for the machine you might be interested in. If not stick to a rolling pin 😉😻🦋

What is the purpose of the heat?
The heat melts the wax on the wax paper removing the white lines, great technique if the paper has been folded and marked etc it also alters it from being paper with a wax coating to a paper with wax soaked in. This creates a vintage glassine quality and introduces a lovely crinkle sound to the paper. It also allows you to emboss the paper with a more polished result as the white lines from the wax can be removed by remelting the wax. Hope that helps ☺️🦋

What was the reason to "heat" the embossed piece at the end?
Thanks for watching Valerie, Heating kitchen wax paper creates a vintage glassine feel, it melts the wax to allow it to absorb the wax into the tissue paper that it’s made from, this sets the paper into a clean finish, removing the white wax cracking effect and making it more transparent. The result is a stronger more transparent paper with a lovely crackle sound exactly like old vintage glass seen paper from fancy photograph albums or chocolate boxes 🦋
These are fabulous tips, was thinking you could also use a tip can. In addition I have embossed those small bags that come in the personal cereal boxes.
