Thanks again Don. As someone new to drones who just got a Mavic Mini 2, I can't thank you enough for providing all this information! Keep up the great work
FYI not all forest fires in Canada have associated NOTAMs. Wildfires in Canada have a 5 nautical mile restriction at all times anywhere. Even when a NOTAM is not posted.
Thank you, Gary! Yes, I thought the dedication was appropriate given the horrendous situation out west (and here too!), and the hard work these folks do day after day.
Glad you found it helpful, Jeff! BTW, Drone Pilot Canada takes all the nonsense out of this process, by displaying drone-applicable NOTAMs right on the map, with a partially de-coded explanation of what it is, in local time.
@@DonJoyce I am unable to see the Mini 4 or Mini 4 Pro in the app under the DJI Manufacturer list of models. Screenshot: drive.google.com/file/d/1nnrQ_jsSsOsjREwa0ymCbtsrDuvLI4w-/view?usp=sharing Edit: I can now see the Mini 4 Pro in the app :)
Hi Don. I use your awesome app but I found a great website for everyone about METAR and NOTAM in layman's terms but my comment seems deleted by youtube each time i provide details. Hope this one sticks. Windy. Airports are circles
Thanks, Farhan! Hope that's what you were looking for. Rather detailed....and like I said, Drone Pilot Canada takes the heavy lifting out of NOTAMs for drone pilots.
Newbie here, so I am confused a little. How, what where, and when questions. So I see an area I want to fly in, how do I find out where I am and how to access the Notam to that area? How do I get a Notam book or link to the Notam web, so I may access the info? Do you already have a practical video on real-life use out in the field before flying? Thank you for your great work btw.
Hi Kal! All this aviation stuff can be very confusing, so don't worry. The great news is that a lot has changed since I published that video. Most importantly, my Drone Pilot Canada app now displays applicable NOTAMs right on the app's map (answering your where question) and clicking on it gives you clear information about the NOTAMs applicability. Here's the video describing this feature: th-cam.com/video/FBoQg4xkN94/w-d-xo.html . The Nav Drone app also shows NOTAMs but offers little/no guidance on what they mean. There is a Nav Canada website for NOTAMs...it should be in the description of the video.
Merci Don ! Très intéressant

Glad to hear you are finding my videos helpful, Moname!
Incredible information Don! Thank you for making this very clear for us brother!
Thanks, Doug!
Thanks for this video Don! You used a NOTAM that I asked about last week in the video (Camrose, Alberta). Helped me to understand what I was reading.
Glad you found this video helpful, Don!
Thanks Don for another great video. I loved the reference to the decoder ring. Keep up the great work on the videos and on the Drone Pilot Canada app.
Thank you, Denis!

Good information and a great dedication . . .

thanks for the NOTAM explanation.

notice to air missions
Actually that term is applicable in the US only. In Canada, it's still Notice to Airmen.

Coming soon!!
CYKA is a bad word.......
Ha! I didn't know that, but have just looked it up! Fortunately, it is just an airport code here!
