    Thoroughly enjoyed this video....very informative and entertaining. It especially was interesting to me because I own a 1996 Beneteau 42s7 that I purchased from the second owner twelve years ago. Don's tour totally surprised me as it seemed he was touring my Beneteau. The layouts are basically the same, however, my Beneteau has a 50hp Perkins diesel, 160 gallons of freshwater (2 tanks), 40 gallon diesel tank, a watermaker, a hydraulic self steering arrangement, and many other benefits. I purchased her for $70K US; asking price at the time was $115,500 US. The seller was ready to sell the boat and I jumped on it. At the time of the survey, my surveyor was surprised to learn the extensive sail inventory; he estimated replacement value of the sails to be $80K US. I've maintained the boat to the best standards possible, constantly upgrading the various systems, running rigging, and such. Just this year I replaced the propeller shaft, the three blade feathering propeller, the lower rudder bushing, and anchor windlass. During the haulout two years ago, I repaired numerous blisters. In 2015, the hull was painted with Awlgrip and it's still beautiful. I especially liked Don't comments regarding the support for the rudder shaft. It appears to be extremely strong. Having just turned 71 years old, I have no plans to sell my Beneteau, which I singlehand quite often. Thanks for sharing this video. Click on my name and visit my TH-cam channel where you'll see numerous videos of my Beneteau. By the way, some of my sailing idols include Francis Chichester, Eric & Susan Hiscock, Dumas, and many others. I've followed world sailing since the early seventies and am a huge fan.

    Congratulations Don and Jane. Your new vessel has obviously been extremely well cared for and finding that type of boat in immaculate condition is a real treasure. The past owners took their roles as caretakers to the extreme. So happy that you’ll be able to spend a lot of time onboard and really enjoy her attributes. You two have given so much to so many participants of your various undertakings and those of us able to follow every step of the way have benefited immensely. I couldn’t be happier for you and your excitement regarding your new purchase and what lies ahead is palpable. All the best in your continuing adventures and thank you in advance for allowing us to come along and share part of the experience. Cheers, mate. You’re one in a million.

    You're going to have to work a little harder to get Jane Jane to like that camera. But it does look like you're making a little progress.

    There was orcas taking the rudder off a oceanis 393 some time ago causing it to sink. Anyone know if that model has a different rudder setup then the 423?

    • @mcintyreadventure
      @mcintyreadventure 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      from what I saw it was the orcas ramming the hull and it breeched at the galley amid ships...she went down bow first with the rudder in the air... :( sad..
