This Vargan (Khomus) is from the workshop of Pavel Potkin located in Atlai Republic. Good, easy to use instrument. I've got couple of these things too. More then 10 years of nice playing
which looks so fake, like he just painted his tooth black. I can sort of still see its shape. Of course you could still chip your teeth this way, just that one tiktok looks fake.
After about 3 years on and off learning to play the harp - I only have one super tiny chip from the tip of my canine. It's so miniscule that I've only ever noticed it much later when trying to get out a bit of food that stuck between my teeth. In fact I'm not sure if it's because of the harp. Could be something completely unrelated.
Nice! Sounding good. I started playing last month. I have 4 already lol also have the P. Potkin. Some harps are also better played back plucked. I play morchang style more often because of better control, but you get less volume. Cool video 👍
Have you tried the melodic jaw harp style? You can get 1 full major scale octave (with one extra note) + parts of other octaves at the top and bottom range.
This instrument called "ağız kopuzu" and was invented by the ancestor of turks in asia, and some of you wouldn't believe it but in the beggining it was literally made out of wood. From turks to anatolia, africa and europe, from mongolians to other asian countries like india ( there are more instruments that india got from mongolians )
my story with this instrument is similar. but i have seen a video from "ataya" and the next day i have bought me a jaw harp. it is an amazing instrument, and the best name comes from the netherlands the "oink-beest"
Damn, one of my colleagues in the Techno producing business didn't want to tell me how he got this particular sound, as he wanted to keep that for himself (and... millions of others who apparently already knew about this device). I should have known what this is, because my late father (a famous Dutch composer in the classical genre between the 70s and 2010s) had one of these when I was a teenager. I even played around with it. I forgot all about it. Now being in my 40s, I gót to have one of these. Ordering as we speak !!
th-cam.com/video/FVEQNKFbMzo/w-d-xo.html The Rayman soundtrack is great to just turn on and emulate. Playing these parts seperate are very confusing but I just tend to DO them when I want to make a sound. When you THINK about it its hard when you dont think about it its so simple.
It’s brilliant that you played the jaw harp with a Scottish accent 😂
Honestly this got me more up to speed than many tutorials. I guess hearing lessons learned at beginner level really help other beginners.

that tooth chipping vid is haunting me. I really wanna get into the jaw harp. Pretty cool that you made all that progress in 1 day.
Go for it! As long as you keep your mouth/teeth in the right position you should be safe from chipping your tooth 👍

fun fact: that video is a lie! if you look really closely, you can see it is something covering the teeth to trick you
Don't forget to try playing it with inward strikes as well as outward strikes
Excellent job man!

So that’s how Patrick Troughtons Cybermen voices was created, was wondering.
Before 1:54 - "This is a fun, compact, and affordable instrument! I'm definitely going to buy one."
After: "Nevermind, I can't afford the dentist."
How can I play it without my front teeth
