I realize this post is an older one and hopefully by now there has been a reconciliation of sorts between the OG"s and masters of the various styles by now..its good that the various forms and methods come to the surface so everyone can see what's what, who is who and which region developed which move but one thing cannot be denied..The EB"s have been the Ambassadors of this..Boppin Andre has been an Ambassador of this. Flattop has been an Ambassador of this..not to mention the various other dancers from around the globe who've been putting the floor work in all this time. They're Ambassadors as well..video clips are great but after a while, youre gonna have to get those travel miles in and let your feet touch floors worldwide and teach what it is you do.in this day and time, there is no other way to pass on your legacy to the next generation..either that or be relugated to the realm of obscurity cause the raw truth of the matter is,that's what the world recognize as real at the end of the day.

Just found this clip, it's a trip seeing these dudes. My generation came up right under Dana, so Randolph's name in particular was already so OG we'd never seen him. Yet there are foundation moves that supposedly got nvented in LA. Also, by the time I startd boogin' 79-80, Fillmore was S.F. only, yet like Mistaecko pointd out, u can see roots of it here.
I try to tell cats, Scarecrow, Wavn, tuttn, twistoflex, all that shit was in the Town and most of us never heard of EBs.
    Great clip.

Vic Randolph is a an interesting character. When I met him, I busted a few moves and he just want off. Did not take much to get him started and he kept going all evening long having the time of life. This was at Mighty 4 a few months back.

@frankejara 1) "Popping" is a term that came later. the "culture" of bay area groups come BEFORE there was the commercially coined term "Popping"...thus, bay area dance is OLDER.
ROBOT is an older dance. simply put: A Human Moving like a robot, and then dancing like a robot. period.
boog-a-loo is a much OLDER term. it is a "description" of someone dancing that's in a style of a "boogie".
    continue your research young jedi.

I caught that too. Seems like Poptart has some similar moves.

.. So.. answer me... Why all groups from bay area have "robot", "robotting", in their names? I never saw the word Pop or Boogaloo related with then... Really strange.

They dance like Sam...Now I believe Boogaloo came from Oakland...

Man, Sam is not claiming nothing. He just is. He is on that position. It's worldwide information... I would like know where was these OGs from Oakland around 80s, 90s? In all this time EBs was around the globe sharing the dance, even when the dance wasn't big... Now, everybody needs be the creator of Popping and Boogaloo, cuz everybody are looking for something . I believe that they have credits for the dance from Bay Area but this dance doesn't looks like the dances that Sam did. It's clear

Crazy... It's not just because they are more old than Sam that they could not be influenced by the Style of Fresno... Show me some footage from 71 of this Oakland Boogaloo... Than I will believe on this shit... Peace.
The Lockers, they prove that Sam came up with that style... ask Don Campbellock...
    By the way... Great solos...

I would not respond to frankehara. Chuck and myself caught him in a lie about the 2004 bboy summit deal. He claimed he had video that showed that, and I quote, "No one argue with the fact that Sam created this style." Chuck was online and set him straight. He also got upset that we were coming on a funkstylerz site and making comments about his idol Sam. He removed it. Guess he does not want to be caught being a hypocrite as well.

You must Oakland, cause I do not know of many people who would recognize that this is just one of many boogaloo styles that existed in Oakland back then. My greatest hope is that more OG's start coming out of retirement so that today's dancers will see that what Sam and Pete have been preaching is false.
