It's a goal that would be good to see. I know another channel (Evan Carmichael) will surpass. All the best to Valuetainment even if it makes it in 2018 it will be a great achievement.
+Archangel Azrael - it would be an honor to do that. Now go build something big, change the world, inspire other people, live your dreams, never give up. Go big dude!!! - Tom
I think an Uber part 3 would be appropriate given everything that has happened in the past couple years. There are more examples of widespread culture problems that came to light (illicit activity/subterfuge, sexual harassment, leadership controversy, etc) in a short amount of time than any major company I can think of.
I am from Hungary and the people (in the first place the young educated people) were for Uber, it was a huge deal! Almost everybody was against this decision of the government. Whatever, this is how it is. Keep up the good work both you and Patrick! I have seen all of your videos :). Cheers, a big fan from Hungary
Things like independent contractors vs employees is something I had to teach myself since topics like that never come up in my business class.... I'm tired of theory... I want real world advice like this
You guys did a great job at knowing what we wanted before we knew we wanted it! I love watching the Case Studies! They're very informative and knowledgeable! All the content the Valuetainment team puts out is incredibly great!
+Brandon Galdamez - thank you very much. We only want to provide great content that helps entrepreneurs and business people learn more and achieve more. - Tom
this is amazing, I`ve been looking for something like this for a long time, nothing I appreciate more than practical things that have actually happened in real life.
Very informative, the wait for the 2nd part episode was well worth it. Breakdown analysis at its best! If I can, I would like to suggest Amazon to the list of topics to discuss throughout 2017. I believe they will be DOMINATING in the years to come. Thank you!
Thank you for the informative case studies. Tom and Patrick are like those professors you just can't wait to go back to their classes. Tom, would you please do a case study on Walmart? I've always been curious about them... and no one tells a story like you!
Hey Tom, need a part 3. Im in Austin, Tx and The state legislature voted to over through the Austin recent law and now Uber and Lyft are back. the local ridesharing companies are struggling to hang on with Ubers cheap prices. thanks
+Jon C - I appreciate the comment. Not everyone will see it as ruthless. Sometimes being decisive may feel ruthless. But I respect your opinion and I thank you for leaving a comment and I thank you for watching. - Tom
Hi Tom, once again I have one more request, Could you make a case study on 5hr Energy CEO? How he found this company and make it so successful that you can find his product almost in every single store and why did he donate 90% of his wealth? Thank you.
love VT, especially your case study. fyi, i just read an article in Forbes about Offerup raising millions. i signed up, and then found out they've almost 800 complains on bbb. i thought that might be a good case study in the future
We are having a similar problem with Uber here in Brazil. The taxi union, was providing high cost and low quality service, so people were desperately wanting for companies to come in and compete with them. Unfortunately, the brazilian government, with its socialist tendencies, hasn't yet recognized uber in some states. They're still deciding whether they will make it illegal or not. We even had an extreme case, where the taxi union mafia that had settled in my city, Porto Alegre, hit an uber driver; we also had another case where the uber driver was shot and killed by taxi drivers. I have to leave this place asap haha, can't wait until I get to São Paulo.
+Eduardo Schiavon - wow. That's amazing story. I really appreciate hearing from people who actually live in other parts of the world and can tell us what is happening from the eyes of the normal citizen. I did business many many years ago with a cable TV company in Fortaleza and Porto Alegre. Thanks - Tom
The same thing was happening in South Africa. Over priced taxis were burning Uber cars, beating passengers and even killing Uber drivers. But the violence has settled down now.
I was living in Austin at the time the ride share regulations were happening. A small correction. The City Council put in place an ordinance with the ride share regulations. Then, Uber and/or Lyft spend around $8M on a campaign for Prop1 which was voted down by the citizens at the ballot box. Prop1 was Uber's proposal to water down the regulations that were scheduled to be effective many months later. I recall reading them and reading the ordinance and noticing that Prop1 only slightly modified the ordinance and actually proposed to keep in place the majority of taxes and regulations. So the correction here is that the people of Austin did not vote in the regulation, City Council did. And the people of Austin did vote down Prop1 despite the $8M spent to promote it. So they left as promised and yes, many ride share companies sprung right up after this and from personal experience I will say that they all were garbage compared with Uber and Lyft. Thanks for the great content Tom!
hmmm! how one same decision in two different scenarios make difference, one was good idea and other was not so good. You are expert in researching so deeply Tom. Thanks for great content. Breaking news editing was great idea, good job there :D
Hey Pat! I read The Next Perfect Storm and I'm thinking about getting into the life insurance business. I wanted to ask, is PHP Agency an insurance marketing firm?
+30 Shades of Grey - This is a premium magnetic porcelain chalkboard. We ordered a custom super large size for the Valuetainment studio to go in front of the bookcases. It was made by Billy Boards here in the US - www.billyboardsmfg.com. We LOVE it! - Tom
nice content, i would b more prepared for lawsuits when i grow my company n tq for the shirt you wearing with our Petronas logo, tq Tom, love from Malaysia
Tom, Uber Part 2 is a great follow on video from Part 1. The three main learning points are excellent and can be applied within our own businesses. I am with the view it’s not a debate whether an Uber driver is an employee. They get to pick their own time to do the job role (contractor). The willingness by Uber to have more discussions and set new rules / regulations can be a good thing for future Uber drivers. Maybe that flexibility to listen and adapt could of been used in the Lost in Austin scenario :) I wonder if any of those Uber rivals in Austin could one day supersede Uber… Bring a new meaning to the Lost in Austin phrase. Shambolic re Budapest / Hungary on illegal dispatcher service (3 year ban if caught… what the…). Maybe Fernando Alonso is needed to pass more documents between the two sides so they play nice :) Lastly, liking the BMW Petronas (They should of stayed in F1!) top and the Lotus John Player Special top during the breaking news section. How may F1 tops do you own… does your allegiance stem to one particular team.
+Mark Ramrattan - as usual I love your Formula 1 references. The comment about Fernando Alonso made me laugh. I have many Formula 1 shirts and I had to confess that I am a Ferrari Tifosi and then disappointed they're not doing well because I root for them but also because I like to see competition. You make an excellent point about Austin. If one or two capable alternatives pop up - that could be competition for Uber on a selective basis but I do think Uber has a massive lead globally. Thanks again for the very insightful comment. - Tom
Interesting video but I would love it, if it was more focused on specific business strategies and business development. Right now you're just telling a story about the history of Uber but you don't go in really deep. Still good stuff and keep it up ;)
Loved the breaking news tidbit! And I would imagine as regulations start to be thrown your way, it's a good sign for you to be able to maintain your stronghold whilst making the entry of barrier to newcomers higher?!
+The Grinning Skull - when regulations show up - be cooperative and enter into negotiations. Be clear about why you're doing what you're doing and try to see it from the eyes of the politician or the civic group that seems to be upset. If that doesn't work donate to their campaign and hold a special fundraiser at your own home for them. This is called oiling the gears of democracy. ;) - Tom
dr biz do you have a video of finance , especially in fundraising ? I am about to raise a seed capital for nirex.pe and need some advice from one of your videos . Thanks for responding.
uber is a middleman between drivers and passenger , the business' model is good as Far the software companies dont lease a similar gps software to an organized transportation unions. that would eliminate the middle man for a user fee im pretty sure I would pay $150 monthly happily
7:02 C'mon man, liberalis didn't say corporation can't do anything right. It is just that corporations are amoral entities and it is the job of the government to protect its people. It's not like corporation haven't done anything wrong. 13:16 You really are politicizing this video when you don't need to. Regulation doesn't equate to socialism.
Bizdoc its be really cool if you did a case study into entrepreneurs who become ignorant and cocky and are voted out like Travis to highlight the importance of remaining humble in light of a companies success
Tom - What do I search to find those sponsored Dress Shirts?! Are they Nascar team shirts? You should be teaching the new Valuetainment style segments.
+adtc - thank you for that. We didn't have much of a choice because we finished filming and we're starting to edit and we saw the news story. So,... we asked ourselves "what do we do?" Do we reshoot part of it or should we insert a breaking news bit. We wanted to be sure that it was accurate and we thought this was a clever way to do it. - Tom
***** you're most welcome. I like your case study videos. Insert more humor if you can. I think a news-anchor-like setup would have made it even more hilarious. Good timely catch on the news story btw.
You should have talked about Uber in Brazil. At first, taxi drivers did protests and broke the cars of uber drivers, because they thought uber should pay the same amount of taxes as them, also, the taxi drivers ignore the fact that everybody prefers uber here, because it offers a better service, cars, price and much more... It's regulated by the government now.
can you plz make a video about amazon and how they did market their product in the market it does not have to be amazon but if you may I just need a case study where u will mention a online business and how they promote their product thanks by the way for your great content u surely have left better than u did find me
Uber is artificially propped up by venture capital. It’s business model is fundamentally flawed. There chances of becoming profitable are slim. What good is growth if it only leads to greater losses?
Tom I couldn't disagree with you more about the way you pitched uber as a great capitalist company but the EU countries trying to protect their taxi labour force as Socialists. I really like your videos by the way. I would like to ask, who does capitalism usually benefit (a few at the top). I can't help but believe that your sentiment would be different if these "disruptive" companies were not American. Not all disruption benefits society. Put yourself in the shoes of a taxi driver who is having their income disrupted by people doing it as a side hustle. It would be great if you could balance the argument with some of the not so great practices of uber i.e drivers being pushed to finance cars they cannot afford.
+essennagerry - excellent! I'm glad you saw both and we are glad to be here providing great content. - Talk

You do interesting work with those case studies, but I don't agree on this one. Austin would make a precedent, that would be used around the world as levarage to change their business model. They've saved their business, by keeping their identity and not becoming just another taxi corporation. Big part of their identity, especially their early days is beeing a rebel and beeing an oposition to the status quo. It's a big thing You missed in that case study.
I wanna help other people with theyr life, to help them make it better, so we , together can make a better society. Because that is my passion, to speak about different things , what can videos or content can i make to get myself promoted or to become viral?
You realise uber is only successful because they operated as taxi's without paying for licences right? Imagine paying several hundred thousand dollars per uber driver. Simply isn't feasable.
it would be interesting to get your opinion on how uber has handled it's competitors! (such as giving thousands of fake orders to lyft) do you believe this is unacceptable or all is fair in war?
+nathan mikesell - there are a number of things that raise eyebrows. I don't think all is fair in love and war, I believe that there should be decorum within competition. A lot of allegations go back-and-forth but who knows with the real truth is. And without knowing the full truth I have a hard time weighing in on it. - Tom
Uber made the right decision even if they lost the festival money.... Why? Uber did not want a single city setting a situation that would set precedent in other cities.
What a one sided explanation, Wow, Folks just find a way to employee people paying them 10-99 and your good to good, see how Uber settled everything without the Government being involved, or just plain leaving a city tail between there legs. Lesson Learned......10-99s Baby

A billion times better than my business class.
+Chavy Cash - That's our goal. - Tom
very very much a billion times. i really think we should radically change our learning strategies to be more "modern"

Defenders of the status quo want benefits of technology without changing their business. Exponential growth sometimes calls for a regulatory response.

It would be great if you could balance the argument with some of the not so great practices of uber i.e drivers being pushed to finance cars they cannot afford.
I just watched Uber part 1 yesterday, haha!
Gonna disagree on the fear mindset about Austin. We MUST drop bad ideas. Hanging on to lame customers is a HUGE problem for entrepreneurs.
I got an Uber ad before this video lol
+Coffee House Films - looks like the TH-cam advertising engine is working! - Tom
Like before I look at video. I knew it would be good. :D
+Axi Garnet - You are a prophet!!! Thanks for watching. - Tom
Still missing the hard core financial analysis
This is not Wall Street .
DAMN
I never thought of seeing Petronas in this video
Hello from Malaysia
I wish alternative medicine was called illegal medicine.
+adtc ??? - Tom
Hahaha Ignore that, it was a word play on calling it "illegal dispatch vehicle" for alternative cab service in Hungary.
What a one sided explanation, Wow, Folks just find a way to employee people paying them 10-99 and your good to good, see how Uber settled everything without the Government being involved, or just plain leaving a city tail between there legs.
Lesson Learned......10-99s Baby
hello tom, good day! can you pls make a case study on Paypal, thank you
