I think people think that Let Her Go is his only song. They don't realize that he has so many more great songs.
To be honest I am not a great fan of this song. Golden leaves - this is really beautiful - of course, that's my personal opinion.

Just listened to his new song Summer Rain and it made me think of this song, just had to hear it again. It beaks my heart every time, but I can‘t help it. At least I know I‘m still alive if the tears still flow. Sorry if that brings anyone down. I‘ve lost my special someone 😔

Think about the beautiful memories with her/him; these memories will always live with us. This might seem strange but the ones that we loved and lost, would always wanted us to smile, keep going and be happy. It's a really sad and hard situation but like I said, the ones that took place in our hearts will always live with us.. Lots of love, stay strong x
My Dad died from cancer last year. In the end, it was very difficult for everyone, but especially my Mom. This song could have been written for them as they neared the end of my Dad's life. Every word rings truth. Thank you for this song. It's beautiful.

Passenger has a style. He's probably not something you listen to on repeat every single day for the rest of your lives, but he's something you can actually relate too. Most people now a days only talk about drugs, partying and breakups. Sure he talks about breakups, but in a much deeper meaning. Something that all of us can understand and that's why so many people love him. He may get 'boring' to you, but he's not here for you to dance too, he's here to be heard. So honestly,sit back and listen.
What I don’t get is how a man of maybe 30 years of age when he would have written this songs understands the feeling of someone who is in their 60’s like myself
Old soul
I believe it has to do with his ability to listen. As a personal example I myself try my best to listen to and talk with older folks (Im just 21). This means that when I talk with then, they are often shocked at the way I talk, they think I'm older than I am. I believe in an interview Mike talks about another song form this album titled "Riding To New York" all about a man well, riding to New York before he dies to see his family one last time. In the interview Mike talks about it being a true story a man told him in a gas station. Our greatest ability is to LISTEN to those who ahve something to tell us :)

Just when you think that all music has gone to shit, you stumble on tiny little smiles like this. The lyrics that touch you, make you cry, make you smile, renew your faith in music, and make you want to love again.

This song got to me...I listen to it over and over. It is just so beautiful...even so it's sad. I am a happy older female and might not be his"normal" fan material..considering his fans are mostly from younger generations. I am a big fan of Passenger and always will be. First he made me laugh with "I hate" now he makes me cry with "Golden Leaves"...a true artist! Can't wait to see what comes next.

I too am an older female. I love his voice and music. I feel sad that I am missing his concert tomorrow night.
I'm a guy in my early 20's and love all of Passenger's music from his earliest releases. However, I'm often too embarrassed to play much of his music out loud in public like Golden Leaves or other more traditional or folk sounding songs because it isn't pop music, rap, or popular music genre.
But goddamn, putting Passenger on shuffle can make me feel every emotion with each song.
His songs are pure poetry, that's all I want from a singer...

This song reminds me of one of my favorite and most sobering poems "Nothing Gold Can Stay" by Robert Frost. - "...As leaf subsides to leaf, So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day, Nothing Gold can stay." Beautifully reminiscent song about those times when we sit and look back and wonder "Where did it all go?" and realize that time advances, things come and go and whether we like it or not, we're left with the results of the choices we've made, or didn't. At least for me. Beautiful, beautiful melancholic song.
Grandparents died, not so far apart... grew old together, and after my grandmother had died, my grandfather never smiled again. He was just sitting there... waiting to die. So never forget what you take for granted when you're young. You too will get old, no way to turn back the clock. So damn beautiful and bittersweet.

Pachelbel Canon in D minor intro to this song is spectacular; then the subtle combination of tunes from the violin and his guitar killed it to the point of perfection!
Chibuzor Nwakasi yes but as a violin player who has started learning violin since i was 3, really i just hate canon in D. its actually a beautiful piece, but i am really tired of it.

I'm continually amazed at Mike's talent. Makes me smile and cry at the same time.
I was with someone for 5 years, this is exactly how it begun and ended up really bad for the both of us, there's nothing left to say when we only say words full of hate, we won't open our eyes because we're both right in our heads, we would want to get away after all the pain we felt but couldn't live without each other. We both hurt each other too much to the point love was there but we couldn't stand each other anymore, words and fights, tears and laughs, we got to a point where love was too hard for us, after 5 years I never felt so empty but relieved at the same time. I'm pretty sure Passenger knows exactly what a relationship like that feels.
