    Beautiful. On this note, could you do a video about suffering (as in the pain we all go through that's not a part of asceticism) and how this draws us into the life of Christ and sanctifies us?

    I love how you talk to your viewers like we all have PhDs. You don't simplify it and you don't water it down. You talk to us like equals. I love it. Beautiful. Learnt so much. Riveting.

    At one point I thought that Father was talking about me. LOL.
    Finding all the excuses to drop (temporarily) the current difficult task and do other 'distractions' because they are easy... 🖐️🙋🙋‍♀️

    Fr. Pine, it's wonderful how you tied the imagery of Penelope in the Odyssey to us and Christ. That blew my mind. Almost feels to me, now, like that's why the Odyssey was written.

    I can't even understand what you're saying. We need a super simplistic very short version of this

    I’m 21 years old . I was baptized , received my first communion , and later Confirmed in the Catholic Church . I went to Sunday school as a kid , Wednesday classes , Church on Sundays .
    My family and I were involved in the church quite a lot . My sister and I were alter servers.
    My dad often read during Mass
    My mom later took a role in the choir
    I hate to say it but I felt forced to go . As we all feel that way as a kid being told to get dressed let’s go to church and sit in a room for an hour and a half and go home .
    I didn’t like it . I left the church at age 17 . I became a bit of a rebel , punk per se .
    I became agnostic and a bit of an atheist for the last few years since leaving the church
    After being gone from the church and a few life events that have reignited my interested in God . I feel born again (slowly)
    I’m learning about the catholic faith and everything their is to it . I am reading up so much , theirs a lot to learn.
    I don’t wanna just go back without actually knowing what it is that I’m getting into . I want to be 100% sure that this is what I believe to be right .
    I am still having some bits of inner conflict but I think it’s more so my ego getting in the way
    I’m afraid to go back to church if I’ll be honest , I’m not ready yet but hopefully will soon
    Please pray for me during this time and I pray that God will show me the way .
    Thanks

      Wow, thank you so much for sharing your journey, and may God bless you! Honesty is often hard to keep up with, especially for me, yet the church should be the place in which all people are welcome, none left out, just like God's grace touched all hearts on the cross. I pray that the journey back is good, heals you, and that you find peace in the church, thanks again for sharing!

    I had foot surgery recently. It's been trying and painful. I've been offering it all up for the souls in Purgatory. I pray many have left there because of my sacrifices for them. JMJ

    Thank you so much Father for such clear an explanation on this subject which is not so clearly explained these days or even expounded on in terms of the necessity of true repentance and penance.
    HOPING that you can come up with a similar talk on meditation and contemplation, on what the difference is and provide some examples.

    Some advice please. Often times I feel the priest does not give me enough penance. Should I ask him to give me more Or just add more myself? I feel the priest must give the penance for me to receive the appropriate merit.

    • @Wgaither1
      @Wgaither1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Why do you need merit? You can’t earn heaven

    • @MrCheesywaffles
      @MrCheesywaffles 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think you should perhaps seek guidance, bring your concerns to a priest outside the confessional or within it when you know there is no queue. You should probably accept the penace given and afterwards offer freely prayers of thanksgiving, or for special intentions, e.g. the strength to resist a certain temptation better. By God's grace, through His servant the priest, your forgiveness comes. I'm not sure it's merited, none of us deserved Jesus offering His life for us.

    • @Arcticroberto9376

      It is in seeking forgiveness that Christ forgives your sins. You should seek indulgences after that to shed your guilt

      @@Wgaither1 It's to grow in sanctity. While The Gift of Salvation is absolutely given by Grace, the co-operation with God's Grace strengthens our will to confine with God's will making it more likely to endure in carrying our daily cross until the end.
