    I flipped a hundred year old house . Chalk that backsplash to the butcher block . I had a tiny kitchen too. I demo myself and did a IKEA cabinets white uppers / gray lowers .And then added the shelves in white up top and added a white book case for extra pantry. With a smaller house quarter round and the ceilings and a 3/4 inch baseboard . Really made it pop and white makes it look bigger .

    You guys are doing great! We didn't have a working kitchen for a nearly year-long deployment. I set up a microwave and crockpot on a table in the living room. We also put our fridge in the living room. We used one corner of the kitchen to put an inexpensive utility sink that we eventually moved to our laundry area. It was so hard with little kids and homeschooling, especially for the length of time, but that home equity increase really helped us later on!

      We have moved most of our kitchen into our living room and I’ve been making my crockpot meals in my bathroom 😂 It is hard to have everything so scattered and chaotic. Especially when we are home so much and eat all our meals at home. It’s definitely been an adventure lol.

    2. Thank you for sharing where to get things at a good price and how to learn to do things. We are purging things from our condo now through the end of the year. I'm hoping to start renovating within a year from now. I want a house and a yard for my kids.

    I have a 24" gas range in my beach cottage. It's considered apartment size. I've cooked everything in and on it ... including a "turkey" that everyone mentions lol. Americans are uniquely obsessed with large ranges that are rarely ever completely filled. Our great grandmas cooked on 24" ranges and made better food than we do.

    So many questions, so little time. Lol.
    I think your tiny space looks amazing. Love the shiplap Nd that BRICK!! is the brick hard to do? Tell me what is it called, please?
    Also where will your dishes go? Minimalist, I'm assuming? And what is that beautiful stone on top of that brown counter? Is that where people will sit like on stools? Your baby is a cutie pie, too. Can't wait to see it finished!

    • @raisingwildflowers
      @raisingwildflowers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The walls are called brick paneling - we got them at Home Depot. They were easy to put up, but a bit of a puzzle to make the bricks line up just right between pieces. It was kinda fun to figure out tho lol. For dishes, we are going to install some open shelving over the sink and maybe somewhere on the wall around where the oven will go. The bar area is marble and we do have stools for the back side of it 😊

      @raisingwildflowers8190 last question: does it feel like stone when you touch it? Like cold and bumpy or no?

    • @raisingwildflowers
      @raisingwildflowers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is smooth with very light texture to it. It does have a smoother stone feel. Not cold, but our house may never be cold enough here in FL to allow it to be cool to the touch 😎😆 My husband and I have been discussing the material the last little bit, and we actually think it may be chiseled edge quartz instead of marble - but are not 100% sure tbh.

    • @ceezee9179
      @ceezee9179 ปีที่แล้ว

      @raisingwildflowers8190 LOL about never being cool to touch. I'm in Miami. I understand. That marble or quartz will look amazing. You should leave the "live edge" part. Live edge wood is a thing now with tables and benches. It Looks so cool. Thanks!

    Have you considered not getting a traditional oven? Perhaps you could have shallow cabinets or storage along the wall and then have moveable induction hot plates and a countertop oven (like the Ninja Foodie XL Pro).

    • @raisingwildflowers
      @raisingwildflowers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is actually what we have been doing for the past year or so! We have a 2-burner hot plate and a toaster oven. It is definitely a do-able option. The oven that was originally in the house broke and we never replaced it 🙃 We honestly used to bake so much (batch cooking a lot of food at once) and I really am missing my full-size oven.
