ngl it kinda sucks that it feels like most league players have absolutely 0 respect for any wildcard region honestly. Especially regions like OCE which are trying to actually get better. People always go "yeah they did really well this year" or "I think the region has potential" in the after match discussions but during most matches live it's basically just shit talking anything they do if they're winning or if they're losing both the casters and audience basically make a meme out of them and use them as a comedy skit. Doesn't help much either when you remember that often these smaller regions servers are used as pub-stomp grounds for nearby major region mid to high-elo players wanting to inflate their egos. I think players just need to drop the pretense of being polite and just say what they really think of wildcard regions IMO.
EDIT: Just to clarify by wildcard regions I mean places like Brazil, OCE, JP etc... the minor regions. Just clarifying since I've seen some people use Wildcard in different situations before.
Also, to give some proof to my claim that people in reality really don't give a shit about minor regions, there was a post not even 6 days ago on the LoL subreddit suggesting that maybe these regions should be respected a bit compared to how people have been treating them before and that post is still sitting at zero upvotes and a third of the comments are people basically saying that they should never have to respect them or that they haven't earned any. Yeah, I think this speaks pretty loudly about how little league players think of any region that isn't EU/NA/KR/CH.
Yah but in what timeline are we in that wildcard regions are toe-to-toe with major regions? Teams from major regions were so far ahead years ago and should've cemented their professional lead since then. Honestly it speaks more to about the complacency of major regions rather than looking down on wildcard regions.
