Humbled by the experience. I thought it was gonna be easy lol
It's cool that you're doing videos with lesser known TH-camrs
Why this hate for oval racing???
@@MV-yp8ilbecause ppl just see NASCAR as turning left and going fast
@@MV-yp8ilbecause it’s boring
Now we need both of you to hook up with a dirt oval driver and learn the ins and outs of a dirt late model and a dirt sprint car
Agreed
Ya I’m gotta do dirt soon, it’s really fun for me and I suck at it
I love dirt it's so nich in sim racing unfortunately
Gavin Ropchan?
And rallycross needs love too just saying😂
I hope Rory Malloy2 realized who he just called talentless
I saw that too, pretty funny if you ask me
"Ran out of talent" and he did at the time lol funny I'm getting famous for this video and recognized in races 😂😂😂 I looked back at that days results in races and remembered that was a terrible day for just getting wreck out by others. Atleast it was a semi nice message.
lol oval is just 90% toxic. I don’t understand it like it wasn’t on purpose but ppl just get butthurt
@@ianhabiuk9848they probably spend most of the day just getting wrecked out of races so it builds up
Great video as always from both of you guys! Also love the fact someone thanked Suellio for running out of talent 🤣 That’s just hilarious
True oval experience
Don’t know if I’ve seen you coach before, Yee, but you have a gift. Your supportive tone and explaining things in stages so that aren’t overwhelming the student are amazing qualities. I’ve been thinking about oval racing recently and this has me pretty excited to give it a go.
do it. I registered at the beginning of S2 Week 13, did the MX-5 cup for it, then immediately jumped ship to Ovals at the start of S3. Haven't looked back since. Start with the Street Stocks, they're on Charlotte right now, then Langley on Monday. Charlotte is great for getting the idea of larger ovals as in the Street Stock it's full throttle all the way, it just comes down to your lines. Langley is a standard Short Track, and combined with Charlotte will teach you about turning down early, trail braking to scrub speed, and also a good track for learning about lines.
Rory Malloy raging at a red stripe in pickup cup has to be the funniest thing I have seen today 🤣
It was a bad day that day to be on iracing lol I would say I was frustrated with that message not "raging". Find it funny people now recognize me in races due to this 😂😂😂 btw I still he ran out of talent in that moment
@@RPM_MEDIA7 cope, also you stink
not the collab we expected but the collab we deserved
You two are the best teachers of driving on the sim at present. It was great to see you both pick up skills so quickly in the foreign discipline. You were driving really well on road at the end of suellios video.
The whole thing comes down to understanding the concepts and then understanding how that feels and then building up the muscle memory. Hope to see you do a bit of road in the future as you've got plenty of ability there after that lesson
No way a suellio and dj yee j video at the same time
Lmao that one guy PMed him saying "thanks for running out of talent"
Awesome to watch how much fun he’s having. As someone who races everything, there’s so much fun to be had in oval racing! And lots of skills to develop that can transfer across series. Thanks for an awesome video!
Wow 2 of my favorite TH-camrs on the different sides of the spectrum come together. Bravo!!!!
this was an awesome collab! Really love seeing creators work together. Its like in karting when a driver taps the back of their helmet to signal that they want to work together and bump draft
It is so funny watching road racers come to an oval, they always underestimate it. Also catching a slide they always counter steer too much and snap it over correcting. :) i get to call it from the outside commentating which is pretty fun you see a fast road driver come in, they have speed and only last about 15 laps.
I do love seeing a Road racer come onto an oval and find out just how tricky it is. like wise going to a GT3 or somthing as an oval driver.
I was at the Milwaukee Mile awhile back and it was funny how much cross over for road and oval hits there, It was the one track i was properly quick at in the early days really helped me learn the car and get the confidence for other tracks.
I’m one of the road guys you describe and yeah, it’s a lot of learning between the disciplines. But I’ve taken to oval way more than I did road, and I’m now almost exclusively an oval guy - I love it so much!
My iRating rocketed past 2k faster than on road too, and my highest iRating score was over 3k a few times. There was no real training, more observing the fast guys and trying to emulate what they do over the course of a whole tyre run, not just their fastest laps. The hard part is figuring out WHY the fast guys do what they do and when to do it. Like taking certain lines and changing that behaviour during a race to have the fastest average speed they can.
And what you say about Milwaukee being good for road guys totally tracks. I’m very strong at the flatter ovals like Milwaukee, New Hampshire, Martinsville, and IRP. NH is my most successful track. And Darlington. That place is tough! A real driver’s track that favours road guys with a bit of patience.
Really entertaining! Great job by Suellio, and really cool to hear your coaching come through on spotting/race. Fun video!
So fun to see! As someone who does a lot of road and oval i think the tendency of road racers is that when you are understeering through the corner you do a later apex to help correct it but the ovals are different.
It feels like both of these channels are gaining more traction. Love to see it. Keep it up boys!
Awesome video. Learned a lot watching you coach him
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS😝😝
Finally get what your talking about turn in angle Great video
Here from suellios channel and enjoying this a lot. Definitely be trying some ovals later!
I’m a total sucker for these collabs. I follow you both. DJ, I would love watch you stream a road race, even if it’s just a recording. Cheers 🍻
I’ve been following both channels for a while now and recently started reading @suellioAlmeida book, The Motor Racing Book. To say this collab was an awesome surprise when I opened YT is an understatement. @DJ Yee-J out here pushing out banger videos… a true man of people. Amazing content guys…. Great work!
Cool to see Chris Tate in there too. He was a teammate in a league and beat me for a Championship by a car a couple years ago
Your explanation on taking banked turns makes Suzuka T1 make so much more sense to me
You did a great job coaching him.
Such a cool colab.
This is the crossover we’ve been waiting for!
Great video idea
Ha! Now I know where I saw you before. I am gonna be following you now. Yep. You are gonna be perfect for me to get better at oval. I haven't really messed with it much yet, but I love being 3 wide in a corner and I am stable on my lines. I have a back injury and I think coming back off of it, oval is gonna be easier on my back and I have been meaning to get into oval.
You should 100% do a motor racing checklist for oval, I would definitely buy it
What a great meet up.
awesome!
Justin Yee is the man 😎
I remember when he did this with Anthony Alfredo
Suellio RTP run when???
I beg you to invest in some lights
just wait till you find out you can run full throttle at day too
Charlotte's turns 3 & 4 are about 20 or so feet tighter than turns 1 & 2.
Super interesting vid. But how does this "beginner" have a 2k oval rating. I've been working on the Road side for a couple of years and Im sub 2k... (yeah, I might suck, but the point is you cant walk into a 2k rating.)
That said, I learned a ton. Thanks man.
I'm guessing connections at iRacing these two prolly have. They're both well established in the community so I wouldn't be surprised. Prolly pitched the idea and someone helped
Ok how do you get 200 fps while i get a max of 9 fps
oval cars have stagger, thats why letting off almost makes it worse/makes the car go up the track right.
also he kept losing front traction when he was drafting, when he has no front downforce... prob should be explained to him
You should have put him in a legend or a late model…
Oval racing requires an unintuitive skill set and precision that is not required for road racing. It is not a case of one being better, just different. One of the things that seems backwards to road racers is the fastest oval times have the slowest mid corner speed.
Doesn’t do oval but he’s still 2000 iR lol
just get more aero and flore it all arond i guess
Surprised you didn't use Daytona for both lessons.
Not much to teach on Daytona oval tbh
Suellio has already raced Daytona with Anthony Alfredo.
Suellio's channel is great, I've seen a bunch of his stuff.
1.8sof doesn't count as top split, haha. You gotta put these guys in a gen4 or 1987 or SLM to give them a real stock car feel. The trucks are lame momentum aero racing.
Ya think? These legacy trucks are a lot lot more of of a handful on a track like Charlotte than the new ones
Road racing vs oval, are like
cycling vs fishing 🙄
Thanks for letting us know you’ve never tried oval racing.
Thanks for running out of talent 🤣
first
isn't he another kid with a high ego and shits on everyone being slower than him on karts
Over driving the entry, truck couldn't take a set,
