I got to meet Mr. Inman years ago in Williamsburg Va, he signed a book they had about the show,"Are you Being Served", he was a lovely sweet man, what treasure to have met him in person.
I met him at a water rats do in Norfolk. Rene and Renata topped the bill that evening. He was happy to chat to everyone at the bar and very down to earth.
@@chriscourson2824 Isn't it delightfully comforting? With all the changes in the world, sitting down with this show in the evenings feels like being with old friends. I can count on them. Thank you for your reply, Chris. Blessings to you.
I was in the Audience for this Interview on Long Island, NY. During the taping break I shouted out Mr. Humphry's are you free? after the taping I was invited back stage to meet John... What a Grand Person!!
@ChAoTiC\Production's he was a really funny and warm person, and I was invited to see his one man show that was playing that week in NYC by John. A class act! and I am anonymous on that! (lol)
I really loved when (Are You Being Served) came on the TV... I liked the ones that were in the store.. I love this show always will. All of the one's on the show R.I.P y'all..
Talented and amazing man and actor. 'I'm free!' 🤗😊🌞❤️. Loved him in Are You Being Serving? Mr Humphries and Mrs Slocombe had the best lines and were my fav.
I actually remember this interview. I'm from Long Island and WLIW 21 was the PBS station where I watched a lot of classic British TV shows while growing up.
"get rid of the puff", just goes to show how clueless the higher ups can be. Mr Humphries sold the show, in fact if it wasn't for him it never would have taken off
I remember back then when I was a young latch key kid. When they advertised selling tickets for this event. How heartbroken I was that I couldn't go. Thank you for this. Do you have the WLIW evening with Mollie Sugden??
9:16 I find pleasure and comfort in knowing that John himself refers to G&F as what the UK version should have been called--"Are You Being Served? Again!"... G&F probably would have lasted longer had people actually given a toss to find out it was a sequel to AYBS
Quixotic is somewhat a strange way of looking at it. Camp humour at the time was a combination of taboo, nauseating and we thought it was all an act, it actually took me years to realise that people were effectively effeminate in real life, we were naive to think it was being sold in acting. John and men like him were overtly camp yet extremely private at the same time. As long as he enjoyed his career in life, that's a blessing to achieve. Rip
If there was no Mr humpries . Are you being served wouldn't have been the fabulous show it was . Fantastic performance and wonderfully written ❤

Sorry to hear of his passing .. Loved him in Are You Being Served. English Comedy is very entertainingly funny.
The interviewer was fantastic letting John speak without interrupting him with more questions or rushing him.

That’s was good watchin
The photo showing that person has an opening tooth?

Im watching are you being served on Gold now
what year was this filmed?
blooper reels are more 80's sadly
He seems tired here. :-/
David Mitchell could play John Inman..
Curious that they interposed the face of this funny, quixotic homosexual over American heros and men of honor .
What on earth does that mean?

Watch the intro . Work of the station, not the actor.
Keep up.

Yes, very degrading to abuse John's face in that way.
Odd wasn't it
Where's the blooper tape with the out takes?
Mr. Inman made the show: Are You Being Served. I loved every actor - Molly, Wendy, Mr. Granger - but, the “poof” Mr. Humphries made the show.
