The new Hillblocks are being tested in the Delta Flume in Delft.
On Tuesday 29-3-2016 the blocks with a hight of 18cm handled was with an average of 1.75 m. After one and a half hours the was no sign of any damage. - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
I have no idea what's going on here but it is oddly very satisfying.
Me: I'm high AF...🥴
TH-cam: wanna keep replaying the same video over and over again? 👀
Water is a scary thing, gentleman!

Idk why but that's so satisfying.
I watched one video about a dam collapse and now my recommended feed is full of videos about sneaker waves and rogue waves and wave tests. And I'm clicking on them all to watch them. Just wish I had discovered these sort of videos sooner.
Same
when a tsunami forms the water retreats back to the wave and this is a very good example of this
0:08 what I came here for. Aghuee
that cliff hanger though....

This is so relaxing!
Yes bro
0:38 BFFFFOOOOMMMMMM
What am I watching?
It is a Delta wave machine testing Hillblocks, engineered concrete designed to reduce coastal erosion - you can just see the shape of the blocks as the waves receed. They break up the oncoming wave, so it doesn't carry as much energy up the slope, but they never get blocked by debris, last decades, and cost a fraction of using massive concrete blocks. Very clever.
@@andyowens5494 cheers man 👍
How does it feel, getting the answer after 2 years?

TIL what hillblocks are and how they work. Cool.
Well this just pop up on my recommendation
Interesting if the shore area was less steep would the waves just surge across without breaking.
1 Hour version for sleeping 😇
It's like Water is having fun! 😅
That is how the beach wave do it
*oddly satisfying*
Well thats clever. Prevent collision on vertical surfaces
surfers: this is amazing
kids: u hell o no
waves:
I would love to swim in that
so out there
How fun it is to swim there
one question why how does it generate another wave when theres no piston
It’s like ocean waves
Imagin fallin in there
It it artificial waves?
is it safe to do at home?
Noice
This wave is scaring me
So cool

Makes me scared 😟😟😟
They're right. The biggest waves are 1,75m. Great sientific work! The crest of the wave @ 0:38 for example falls down in 15 pictures of 25 pictures per secondes. That makes 0,6 sec for falling down. The free fall formula is "h = 0,5 * g * t^2". g is the constant acceleration (9,81 m/ s^2) of gravity while falling down, t the time of falling down. You get h = 0,5 * 9,81 m/s^2 * (0,6s)^2 = 1,77 m. Btw the amplitude of the wave, is half of the peak to peak wave height. So it's 0,88m. Waves are meassured in Y-direction as peak to peak or amplitude in x-direction as velocity, wavelenght and periode.
This reminds me of titanic

Is this really 1,75m? Looks smaller.
yeah it actually is. The crest of the wave @ 0:38 for example falls down in 15 pictures of 25 pictures per secondes. That makes 0,6 sec for falling down.
