That song that brings me to tears....it reminds me of 1986 when i met my HS girlfriend, we we're 16. I met her in 18&under club. Who would later become my wife. The 80's i miss you.
Never heard this song until i started doing rideshare and turned to the 80's station.. im an r&b / rap girl but i get SO excited when this comes on...I love it so much I can't explain it😩
Level 42 is a funk-jazz band, and they blend it perfectly. Funk has it's roots in R&B and if you listen to Stevie Wonder from the 70s (think Superstition) the funk is right up front instead of the background. Then come back and listen to this masterpiece again and it makes plenty of sense.
I've watched this a dozen or hundred times. Anyone else notice how the video and audio are just slightly off? GREAT song form the 80s, long live the 80s!
This is the song that got me in to these guys. Amazing track. I wonder why they didnt continue with Mark King doing the clown character in more of their videos. Quite clever and he was suitably creepy.
Something About You is my favorite 80s song. I had this huge crush on a girl I never spoke to in high school that whenever I heard this song, I thought about her.
How, how can it be that a love Carved out of caring, fashioned by fate Could suffer so hard From the games played much too often? But making mistakes is a part Of life's imperfections Born of the years Is it so wrong to be human after all? Oh, drawn into the stream Of undefined illusion Those diamond dreams They can't disguise the truth That there is something about you Baby, so right I wouldn't be without you Baby, tonight If ever our love was concealed No one can say that we didn't feel A million things And a perfect dream of life Gone, fragile, but free We remain tender together If not so in love, it's not so wrong We're only human after all Oh, these changing years They add to your confusion Oh, you need to hear The time that told the truth Because there's something about you, baby, so right (and now the way you are tonight) I couldn't live without you, baby, tonight (I couldn't live without you) And now there's something about you, yeah And I couldn't live without you, tonight…
I have to admit back when this song came out I thought it was boring. But just recently in 2024 I changed my perspective as I was on a 80’s new wave boat cruise in NYC. I had taken some molly, just as it was taking effect, the boat began to leave the dock to start the cruise & the DJ put this song on. It was perfect, the lights of Manhattan, on a perfect summer night, with the Molly hitting & this song to start the evening!
I WAS IN MY 30'S WHEN THIS SONG AND VIDEO CAME OUT AND IT STILL SOUND'S GOOD 25 YEAR LATER. THERE AREN'T TO MANY SONG NOW DAY'S THAT YOU CAN SING ALONG WITH. GOOD SONGS WILL STAND THE TEST OF TIME ! ROCK..........
I remember this song in the 80's on MTV, but I made deliveries to the OBX back in the early to mid 90's and the local radio station would play this at least once on my days down there and that is the core memory for me and this song. It has become part of my summer soundtrack because of it. Brings memories of youth and sun! Great tune
Mark king an awesome singer and and prob the bassist in the world plus I played this song so many times timeless classic and the 80’s decade millions of good songs but something about this song
I do remember this video played a lot on MTV. When I read on Wikipedia that the same actress played both or 3 of their girlfriends, I had to see this again just now. Either she was a different character each time, she wore something different with each guy, or maybe it was in her perspective she went through heartbreaks with each guy and felt uncertain which guy was right for her.
Cherie Lunghi, the great British actress, who representationally plays the girlfriend of all the band members, is the epitome of beauty, poise and aplomb...
In so many ways, the 80s were super bleak. The Cold War and nuclear threat, AIDS, the sh*tty economy… but such music we had, god this tune still makes me feel so good!
2024...who is here?
👋 One of my favorite childhood songs...time flies!
Today!

@@Matthew1981 so true! Depends which decade they grew up in.
Wow I thought I was the only one that felt that way.
80s are a bookmark of your life which can never be relived. All good things must come to an end.
The songs are so good, but make me so sad that those times are past us now and long gone. Is there a word for that feeling?
Damn good song! Still listening in March 17, 2024❤

@@ChrisReinheimerYou were a kid once also. Do you still remember it?
@@thedarksideoftheforce6658 I do. That's what keeps me going, thanks for asking.
@@thedarksideoftheforce6658 I do. But I can't remember what I had for dinner last nite....
We..."children or young adults of the 80's" were the very LUCKIEST OF ALL to have the most powerful years of MEANINGFUL MUSIC!
Never heard this song until i started doing rideshare and turned to the 80's station.. im an r&b / rap girl but i get SO excited when this comes on...I love it so much I can't explain it😩

THE. 70 S. &. 80.S. MUSIC. NEVER. GETS. OLD. LOVE. IT
I still have my battered up 45 single of this song. I was 14 when this came out, and played it to DEATH!. A true happy moment in music for me.
This music will never gets old.
I've watched this a dozen or hundred times. Anyone else notice how the video and audio are just slightly off? GREAT song form the 80s, long live the 80s!
Let's go in a time machine, and go back to these times.
This is the song that got me in to these guys. Amazing track. I wonder why they didnt continue with Mark King doing the clown character in more of their videos. Quite clever and he was suitably creepy.
saw Level 42 live in Liverpool a couple of years ago and they still sound good 25 years on!!!!
If you're wondering why the actress looks familiar, it's because she was Guenevere in Excalibur.
This song always reminds me of the good ol' days.
back in the day MTV will play this video all the time, Loved it.
This song is classic and timeless.... loved the 80's- wish I could go back....
Classic 2024 and beyond ❤
How could anyone not love this song? It’s brilliant.
Something About You is my favorite 80s song. I had this huge crush on a girl I never spoke to in high school that whenever I heard this song, I thought about her.

How, how can it be that a love
Carved out of caring, fashioned by fate
Could suffer so hard
From the games played much too often?
But making mistakes is a part
Of life's imperfections
Born of the years
Is it so wrong to be human after all?
Oh, drawn into the stream
Of undefined illusion
Those diamond dreams
They can't disguise the truth
That there is something about you
Baby, so right
I wouldn't be without you
Baby, tonight
If ever our love was concealed
No one can say that we didn't feel
A million things
And a perfect dream of life
Gone, fragile, but free
We remain tender together
If not so in love, it's not so wrong
We're only human after all
Oh, these changing years
They add to your confusion
Oh, you need to hear
The time that told the truth
Because there's something about you, baby, so right (and now the way you are tonight)
I couldn't live without you, baby, tonight (I couldn't live without you)
And now there's something about you, yeah
And I couldn't live without you, tonight…

I was born in 1985 and I wish I was way earlier so I could’ve seen the whole 1980’s decade for music, culture, and partying
At least you have an appreciation for this music, I was born in 74 and the 80s was my childhood, best decade in my
Life for sure ❤️
