As a kiwi myself my only tiny gripe is that in New Zealand, you can pretty much only find kiwis in forest areas, lots of trees, tall grass and places to hide away from predators. We don't have many caves and dry, arid areas here, and where we do we have to many hawks and wild cats out and about that would stop the kiwis from breeding and growing. Everything looks amazing though, keep up the good work
I love this! I like seeing people build not just sections, but entire zoos based on Oceania... I am currently building one too, in which habitats are grouped into smaller sections surrounded by water, each representing a real-life island (Rottnest, Tasmania, New Zealand, Papua-New Guinea, Australia)
This zoo is gold. Although, as an Aussie, zoos keep dingoes in tropical habitats as they are more commonly found in our tropical areas, but still can be found in temperate and desert areas - just more common in tropical areas of Northern Australia. They can also be found in Southern New South Wales (A state in Australia) in high mountain ranges where we get snow. Zoos also put plastic around the trees of koala habitats instead of rubber. Koalas can just sink their claws into the rubber and keep climbing. Obviously, there are no plastic pieces in the game but good job!
“koalas and kangaroos are the face of OCE” … Wow..what a piece of shit statement to make? As if other countries don’t exist in Oceania? Or furthermore that there is literally a big ass Kiwi in the thumbnail. Koalas and Kangaroos are the face of Australia, do t generalise the rest of the archipelago that forms Oceania.
I don’t play planet zoo very much, but in real life, that’s actually less. They would be bored since they would explore the entire habitat almost immediately. It needs to be larger irl but in planet zoo idk
i think it is important to note that many of these animals do not live in a desert, flying foxes live in trees outside, they would not survive without fruit trees, in a cave. tazzie devils and platypus as well as penguins live in the eastern states (or south western western aus) where it is either tropical (north) or mountainous, and plains (sydney - melbourne), taz also is very much the opposite to a desert, lots of trees, lots of rain, very cold (compared to Australia) it still does look amazing and definitely fits a theme... although the theme leaves out a majority of the biomes that these fauna strive in, giving them their worst conditions, besides urban or pollution, ig.
THANK YOU OMG I was dying as I was watching this, we have a lot of flying foxes where I live and seeing my babies get shoved into a cave broke my heart :( The zoo is absolutely beautiful but it completely ignores the environmental needs of a lot of the animals
What, the real-life animal grey-headed flying foxes that, while now growing in numbers, were endangered for a very long time particularly through the majority of my childhood, and that I've grown up watching before bed? I know that it's a game, that's bloody obvious, but I'd like to think that any game dev company making a *zoo sim* would make sure that their animal habitats were accurate to the environments they live and thrive in. @@nyx-nuri.08
@@nyx-nuri.08 Well, its not ridiculous. A lot of people focus on giving the animals the habitat they need, rather than the looks. The game is about having fun and making a zoo, although to have fun some people want their animal to be happy! So hopefully you now understand??
Looks amazing! I've really got to work on upping my build game, and am a bit sad that I had started my new building project just before the Oceania pack was announced, so it will take me a very long time to get to the new items! The bats cave looks insanely good as well, you should feel very proud about that exhibit! It reminds me about some of the exhibits I've seen for bats from World Class zoos in America.
Such a nice zoo, a lot of very unique animals in the region and it makes it work well with a unique Oceania zoo. (Still hoping for tree kangaroos someday.)
GREAT job on this! Loved seeing all of the enclosures condensed in a snappy, fun video. My favourite enclosure if probably the saltwater croc, I love the waterfall running out of it and your use of the European bridge platform wood along the edges. Can't wait for the workshop download and the tour!
Even if you did start building before the dlc dropped it's still insane that you got this out so fast while still making everything look this good. I just barely finished building for the penguins and that's as far as I've gotten😅
I think it's important to note that a lot of these animals don't live in arid environments. For example, the cassowary lives in areas where you can barely see the sky because of the dense canopy above. I'm not sure if that would be possible in planet zoo but your exhibit still looks great :)
This is amazing! You inspired me to make a zoo for every Africa animal. Right now there are only animals from default game. I will buy Grasslands DLC when I won't be broke.
I tried to make an entire zoo of oceania, the quality is far from equal, but i’m satisfied with it, i made 3 sections, one for the prairie animals, one for the tropical forest ones and for the tempered forest
Love this!!! but there's a couple mistakes such as grouping tasmanian devils together as in most cases the devils will fight eachother sometimes resulting in one of them dying and the kiwi enclosure is a bit off as kiwi usually hide in logs and other small spaces, other than that this great!
This is such fine detailing and amazing inspiration for building in this game. Your production quality is super high, you 100% deserve way more subscribers!
If you wanted to expand it without mods I might recommend adding animals invasive to australia, ie. Red foxes, camels, water buffalo, and fallow deer. THIS IS SO COOL. The flow of your enclosures between each other as well as the design of the enclosures themselves is so good it makes me so happy! This is making me want to get the game 😂
This looks incredible! Can't wait for the workshop download, I'm guessing it'll be available when the tour releases? (If your last stream didn't convince me to get the new pack, this vid & zoo would've :D) Idk about others but I'd love to have those blueprint pieces, they look great and decor is my weakness

Also, I don't even play Planet Zoo (though I've seen a few videos of people building zoos haha) but I would also be PISSED that this Oceania pack came out and they didn't include echidnas! I'm an avid Sims player but hate Sims 4 because of the shitty packs that come out that don't include enough content/ skim over actually interesting content, and the lack of echidnas reminded me of this haha, especially since it included like every other type of notable Australian wild life. Plus, I think echidnas and platypuses are the only monotreme species left so it's odd they would include the platypus and not the echidna also. Then again, I think people are more familiar with platypuses because 1. they're weird (duck bill, beaver tail, venomous, egg laying mammals) and 2. because of Perry the Platypus. Also, I don't know if there's already a pack or mod for this -- I'm certain others have already thought of this idea -- but it would be super cool to have a pack for extinct animals. Specifically, they could even have a pack devoted to extinct Oceanian animals, since Australia has a lot of extinct megafauna and NZ as well has various extinct moa species plus Haast's eagle (a massive eagle which was a predator of the moa). Australia as well has some cool extinct species, specifically megafauna -- I think there were giant snake, giant crocodile, massive wombats, marsupial lions, like the thylacine, geyornis (a bird similar in size to the ostrich), and the giant short faced kangaroo.
Emus and kangaroos living together? As long as they don’t go back to Australia. The Emus might create an alliance with kangaroos and then a worse emu war will happen.
