I knew a lady, she had the best wit. She was hilarious... We were having dinner once, pasta of some sort. Something suddenly came up and she had to run. Her husband was already outside. She popped up and said "Thats why I married an Italian, they're great when youre in a hurry!" It may not seem funny at all but I laughed for days, thinking about her saying that. She has been dead over a decade, I miss her silly self and wit every day 💖
You can tell he grew up fascinated with the forties black and white melodramas with Davis Crawford Rosalind Russel ( lizard of Oz) Susan hayward( I want to live ) in valley of the dolls Susan delivers several lines not meant to be funny but delivered in her actressy 40’s soap opera mode - dramatic , over dramatized one eyebrow arching , trying hard to sound sincere but preoccupied by how she looks since getting older as an actress was a sin felt need to be dramatic due to loss of appeal of youth . When your young you can be dramatic and it appears sincere . Older with tons of make up to appear without marks of time the face is clownish making even subtle facial expressions appear insincere with undisguised ambition usually hidden by youthful charm . He captures that genre well sending it up for our amusement .
I love his sense of humor, dramatic yet silly with a huge edge of self importance- the way actresses acted in 40s, 50’s. 60,s
