Great interview. My best memory of Lee was watching him on the driving range at the Open at Royal Birkdale eating a pie with one hand whilst hitting balls to about 170yds one handed and putting them all within 3 ft of the flag. Unbelievablly talented. Between you and Iona, loving the format of your interviews and getting people to be so open and give really interesting insights to the game and their career. Looking forward to more of the same
Liv teams sponsored by different pies is the future of golf. Thanks guys, great entertainment. Lee was fantastic, serious, honest and funny to suit each question. 10/10. 👍
Absolutely brilliant podcast, Lee has always been an honest and straight talker which is refreshing in this day and age. Really looking forward to the on course videos with him and Pete. Great work Pete and the team.. 👌🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Great podcast. Such amazing insight and hilarious stories from LW. Didn't think it would live up to the PH episode but it did! Spot on. Cheers from Ottawa Canada 🎉
50:29 Lee just made a really significant point on pairing with a partner or partners within even a scramble. Matching games provide familiar recovery shots from errors and if you have a different player with you in a team, it will backfire so easy. Yet you think, different players fulfill the differences, it’ll only happen, when you don’t miss any of your shots!
Loved the podcast guys, Lee was coming through the ranks back when I started taking golf seriously, So I've always been a big fan and admired his game and attitude. I can't wait to watch the match 👍
Excellent interview, Lee gives an honest assessment. Enjoyed the Seve/Martin Gray story (Martin was my best man at my 1st wedding and often gets a mention on the course) and a maths lesson with Mr Westwood senior never featured golf! 👍
Great pod - i am a big fan of Lee Westwood - seems unfair the way people seem to have forgotten all he achieved just because he went to Liv - he was more loyal to the European Tour when the others were taking the cash from the PGA tour. Has a great dry sense of humour as well
Ah, Lee Westwood. My favourite golfer. I miss watching him play but I simply can't muster any interest for LIV. Such a great and funny personality. Can't wait to see the match! Thanks for this, guys, your podcast deserves ten times as many subscribers.
Go and win that senior us- open Lee, with what blandy just did that's gotta give you the spurt you need, then two fingers to the senior British, the talent you've got is unreal, I can remember following you years ago at the world matchplay, you and woosie, you totally blew me away, followed you since, many players deserve to win a major but I think you deserved it more
Can you nothing but love - sorry, luv this guy? Been a fan since I became awere Lee, but this got me cracked from the start! Also thumbs up for Matt and Kieran - familiar from the Earlier RCP-podcasts AND Pete the all negative on himself Finch! What a teammate he would make in a foursome…
After listening to Lee Westwood i wanted to watch The Miracle at Medinah. TH-cam video from the official Ryder Cup account is unwatchable (sound out of sync) & impossible to buy the video. Any ways to get a hold on this piece of history?
He apparently is not a DPWT member in good standing. Always liked him, and surprised he never secured a major championship. That being said, I and many others don't fault him for making move to LIV, his reasoning being solid. However, no one wants to hear him and others from LIV bitcx/moan over their ineligibility in certain tourneys. Love Pete and the guys, but felt interview was a little too much of a lovefest; he could have provided some pushback questions.
Great stuff fella’s, Lee-gend Westwood. What a fella, What a golfer. Who next Pete? A Pete and Tyrrel Hatton 9 hole match play swear-a-thon. All swears cost £50 and all money raised goes to charity
I’ve no problem with any of them leaving for LIV for the money, that’s between them and their consciences regarding the source of the money. I was disappointed when Westwood and Poulter left, I thought they would already have enough cash to be able to turn down the offers from a murderous regime, but apparently not. My problem is with them bitching about not being allowed to play on the tours they deserted afterwards. The trouble is that they left for the money, and then realised they were playing in events that absolutely no one cares about. They knew the rules and consequences, so just leave and get on with it. And don’t pretend they did it to “grow the game”, that’s just laughable.
I'm sure they sleep just fine with a clear conscience. You should stop watching all golf if you have a problem with liv because the pga does business with China (slave labor) and Dubai and you may not know but I'll give you a history lesson. The ruler of Dubai tried to give his 12 year old daughter a few years ago to Saudis crown prince but because of bad optics they decided against it.... side note both of the Dubai rulers daughters have disappeared because they tried to escape their father.... last time I checked the dp tour has the race to Dubai hmmm curious also the over 20 major cash cow sponsors of the pga do billions in business with Saudi Arabia so there ya go
I can never be world number 1, but if the aisle is empty at the store I can be the best golfer in the aisle, I may scream that next time I go to the grocery. 😂😂
DP Tour is nothing but a PGA feeder tour now. Wouldn't mind if the PIF either takes over the DP Tour or starts a new European Tour and gets it back to what the European Tour used to be in the 80's and 90's...before the PGA expanded its monopoly on world golf and created a situation in which golf is mainly for the benefit of America and American TV audiences.
Congrats on the Podcast. Just goea to show that you can be loyal as anything for donkeys years and yet one decision to make your life better and you get lambasted for it. I defy anyone who whether its sport or normal Joe working his shift to refuse an offer of less hours more money. LW doesnt need Euro tour the Euro tour need the likes of LW and IP.
You know what would be funny? Instead of using the typical *BEEP* sound when someone swears, instead put the sound of Pete absolutely smashing a driver over the swear
Great interview with Westie, gents. Just one thing. Maybe this isn't possible, but I'd love it if you could ask some harder hitting questions to LIV players. I know that everyone on Rough Cut isn't particularly a fan of LIV, and all that it involves, and yet like many other people, you seem to tiptoe around the subject when talking to a LIV player. It just all feels a bit fake, because we all know they only did it for money, we all know that they probably hate all the gimmicky stuff about LIV. I'd love to hear them talk about sportswashing and other subjects like that. There's just a number of massive elephants in the room, and it's really weird that no-one seems to be able to talk about them to LIV players.
@@andrew_l1900 No, I'd love for those questions to also be asked. You're seeing an agenda that isn't there. I just want people to talk about elephants in rooms, and stop being so fake with it all.
Can't think of anything worse than golf going nearly all team based. Lee Westwood winning 14 times or whatever seems like an achievement that is his and his alone. Whereas in a team he could play bad but be dragged to a win by his team
The LIV issues and the DP world tour issues are strange, especially as Aramaco sponsor then women’s tour, so effectively the same masters that own LIV. Lee Westwoods comments are illuminating and sad, he and Poults have given so much to European golf, politics and suits should be kept out of sport.
I think US PGA TOUR screwd the colab by going to raise more domestic investors into the mix and starting the signature event series. Now there is virtually ”college golfers” and random Korn Ferry players winning and in contention on the regular season events emphasizing the fact that PGA Tour is just a national elite golf league that used to pay the best prize money for anybody, who’d qualify for an event. And by winning one get an exemption, yet coming thru Monday qually. Asian, Europeantours are continental. Yes, PGAT has stops in South-America as well, but they are like charity classics, where only limited number play without a cut. Very, very poor conduct by PGA Tour’s behalf.
Well, if you consider professional athletes in athletics, there are these Diamond leagues events, but they are few during a year. And then there are the World’s annually and the Olympics every fourth year… Same thing with the NHL. Teams play some ”100” games in regular season and the regular season events are by the rules 60 minutes, but actually the teams play only 10 to 15 minutes with attitude, the 45-50 minutes is just show and beer league style hockey. Cannot watch them regular season matches, cause the coast to coast without intention to score unless an empty net after goalie lost it and defending team made a huge mistake mid-game.
@@dirtyoffroader2093Yep Grant Horvat did a video where he played in the Farmers pro-am with Jason Day and he wasn't allowed to show any of Day's shots.

Love this podcast, but you really should've asked Lee about the moral side of joining LIV. It's sportswashing by a despotic regime, simple as. How much money does an exceedingly wealthy sports star need?
Without a doubt one of the best golf personalities I have every seen I could listen to golf stories from lee all day long
You guys have quickly become my favorite golf podcast to watch! Thanks!
Glad you enjoy it!

The Seve story had me nearly choke on my coffee in the office. Hilarious

Didn't hear the word chopper when you talked about LIV Pete 🤣
The Stamford course looked great
