It doesnt matter where the power up is coming from, if it getting new parts or gaining more chakra. Then you cant compare an anime with 2 seasons with anime which has more than 700 episodes. Yes Genos is getting stronger faster, yes he wasnt the weakest in his verse at the start yet the concept of starting as a weakling to become stronger to protect people thats where the typical shonen comes from. So once again it would be a typical shonen.
