Good video!!! Wrong answer as per the range of K. The equation 24 -8 -k >0 ...when resolved... 16 - k > 0 ....then.... -k > -16 ....if you multiply by -1 ,,,,then you have k < 16 which is the correct answer. Hence the proper range is -8 < k < 16. You can always check your answer....if you say k = 17....(outside the correct range)...the element of s^1 will be - 1/4 ...hence the system with k=17 will be unstable. If we say k =0 ...all elements in the first column will be positive. Keep the good work !!!
maybe she forgot the rules on those symbols, that's what I also noticed. k should not exceed 16, it should be less 16. maybe she got confused. anyway thanks to both of you!
Say the denominator was, s^4 + s^3 + 4s^2 + 6s + 8 When making the columns, I'm guessing you would write s^4 first, then s^3, then s^2 etc. My question is, since the first row now has an even exponent (s^4), would you write the coefficients of the even exponents instead of the coefficients of the odd exponents?
Steve, the answer to your question is yes. The example just happens to start with odd exponent but it doesn't matter if you start with even or odd. the process is still the same. For s^4 + s^3 + 4s^2 + 6s + 8, the first row at s^4 will have coefficients of the even: 1 4 8+k. Then s^3 row will have the odd coefficients: 1 6 0...the 0 is just there to fill the blank basically cuz you don't have an extra odd coefficient to complete the 3 rows. From there you continue with the process of multiplying out like i did in the video. Hope that helps...
It is supposed to be k < 16, when you change the signs on both sides of an inequality you flip the direction of the inequality because originally it would be -k > -16 haha yeah three years, wasn't paying attention. good luck
Can you please not do examples from the NCEES Review packet. You do problems from outside of it and reference the NCEES as the quiz or a review question so it would benefit us more.

I also noticed that
Thank you, this helped as I do my assignment.😊
When writing 8k>o ,u said k is >-1 but wrote k>-8 can u confirm if its correct .if yes please elaborate.
Awaiting reply asap
:-)
Gaurav, I guess i mispoke :(...sorry...I meant to say K>-8 as written...Thanks
For the upper boundary, do you mean K
You are absolutely right
I think Bobby Reese is on to something but K
Thanks...
N great post.
Specially when u Want to jump from A to C directly without going to B.

PERFECT...thank you so much for your quick and helpful response!
Raiya Energy Here, I found one typing error, , you've mentioned that K value must be between -16 and -8 so it should be written as (-16)
You're a godsend.
how would you find the range of K if the system was unstable?
whatever range is stable . minus it from everything.
24-8-K>0 K must be greater that -16 right?
it has been 3 years but
24-8-k>0 --> 16-k>0 --> 16>k
best of luck
