The black edition pencils are sold in Europe and the rest of the world and the Supersoft were sold in Americas are are triangular. The graphite formula and the colour palete are the same with some differences at all the minor paletes.(i discovered this when i find the international website).Actually they made 124 colours of the this graphite formulation.Usually near about 95% of products made by Faber-Castell in Brazil are sold in own Brazil and the majority are not exported due this situation.

I bought my FC black edition pencils on sale and I'm super happy with them! I didn't want to waste my FC polychromos in coloring books. Because I'm trying to teach myself to draw.

Yeah they are a nice pencil I dont know why the smaller set I had was harder then these ones but these are as smooth as the Eco soft

The Goldfaber from FaberCastell are very nice too. They are in between the polys and the Black Edition. Unfortunately only in 48 set maximum. I’m begging FaberCastell for 150 Goldfaber. My plea is falling on deaf ears.

I think the round barrels are meant for the S. American market. The 3 sided are for the European market. I was extremely lucky to get a 100 and a 50 sets round barrels from the same seller unused. I cannot get used to the triangular shaped pencils.

Thank you for doing this review. As someone who's only used the classic FC reds and wanted something more adult targeted and with more pigment I found the black edition's triangular barrel awkward and would switch to the eco soft although they are around 8 dollars, roughly, more expensive. Now I'm torn. I'm considering black edition mainly for the tin packaging.
I'm here in Pakistan where there isn't much stock or choice. They mainly sell either the reds or the Polychromos here.

I think that they are made for different markets and the Eco supersofts were brought to the US market by other sellers

@@MyColouringCornerwithReneexactly this ! The name Ecolápis comes because of a necessary certification here in Brazil that proves that the source of the material comes from completely sustainable sources, as is what happens with the 3 Faber-Castell factories here in the country. The used wood comes from eucalyptus and pine which are managed in areas of the states of Minas Gerais and São Paulo. These trees, when cut, are replaced by new seedlings when cut. The entire process is done with a technique called sekural in which the maximum amount of wood is used. Another interesting thing is that When a pencil does not enter Faber-Castell's meticulous quality process, it goes to secondary and tertiary lines that are sold in popular stores here in Brazil.Could i tell about the fact that the pencil mines are made with with food colorings because the red line and blackedition are aimed at use in schools and for young children. Another interesting thing is the relationship that Brazilians have with Faber-Castell is similar to the one that Americans have with Crayola.

@@MyColouringCornerwithRene yes the Supersoft line is meant for the Latin American market. In Mexico you can find both being sold officially by Faber-Castell itself at pretty much the same price.
I've bought both (with just a few months in between) just for comparison (and because I didn't mind having two sets of a pencil I like) and I didn't find any differences. I didn't do a smudge and water test though. Perhaps I'll try those tests one of these days just to see if perhaps the smudging was due to formulation variation between old vs new pencils and not between Black Edition vs Eco Supersoft.

You shouldn't say "blsck barell" because they are all black barell. One set is the Black Edition and the other set is the Eco Supersoft. Every other review I watched considers the Eco a superior, better quality than the Black Edition. Neither one is water soluble, these regular color pencils never are. One other thing the Black Edition leaves more dust than the Eco. And they never smudge either

I found that the 100 Black Edition from Brazil and the 100 Eco Soft from Brazil are the same pencils I did find that the smaller sets first available in the US that are also the black edition were not as good as the Eco soft I will have to check my testing again to see if they moved or smudged though I am sure you can see in the video if they did for me
