Society puts too much emphasis on acne being a Teen related social issue rather than an actual medical problem. Severe acne looks damn painful and those suffering from it deserve help, not humiliation. Really hope you guys can get treatment if needed.

I used to suffer from acne for more than half of my life. I've always thought it's important to wash throughly like twice a day with the most expensive products and have been through 2 cycles of Accutane. I got super miserable and depressed in a period that I didn't bother to wash my face routinely, but that was it and found the main cause of my acne. I was washing and applying topical creams twice a day which caused my skin to irritate and removing the protective barrier (not sure what it's called) but this also produced so much oil on my face. My solution was washing my face once every 2 days with a gentle face wash. My favorite is CeraVe hydrating facial cleanser. DONT scrub your face with the cleanser just pat it on and gently massage and gently rinse off just to leave some of the product on your skin, and pat dry. Always treat your skin like to super sensitive. I know there are various causes to breakouts but this is my remedy and im just giving my suggestion for others to test out. BTW I'm a male 29 years old and it's been working for me 3 years. Wish you all the best.

What I realise about acne is, curing them is one thing but achieving healthy skin barrier is actually the most essential starting step. Being so long battling with acne, especially hormonal ones, made me forgot that while acne could always be ever occurring there's also ways to create a better condition on your skin that will makes them won't appear or less severe, like learning about the soil instead keep killing the pests.

Very informative. One of the most important acne exacerbating factor that is often overlooked is stress. Stress raises cortisol levels, can exacerbate acne. Stress can affect a person's hormonal balance and the skin's immune function. The likelihood of having oily skin and clogged pores may rise as a result.

There have been times when I was too lazy to wash my face before sleeping, and I also used to switch between different, cheaper skincare products. However, I noticed that this caused frequent breakouts for me.
Nowadays, I make it a point to always take a bath before sleeping and consistently follow a skincare routine in the morning and at night. I have also started changing my beddings and pillow cases twice a week and making sure to drink plenty of water. As a result, I no longer experience acne breakouts after months of struggling with them.
I have learned my lesson and I won't go back to trying different skincare products that can harm my skin. It's been tough because I even feel self-conscious about going out, thinking that everyone will stare at my face.
I do feel a bit guilty because I still drink coffee and stay up late at night, but despite that, my acne breakouts have stopped. I believe that being consistent with good hygiene and proper skincare is the key.

So it's like using a towel for 2 years and not even washing it but still using it. You'll notice towel gets really dirty but we usually don't see those on screens. So try buying some cleaner for your laptop keyboards, phones,tv/ac remote which you frequently use. So that will make big difference and help.

Normally acne that fluctuates with your menstrual cycle regularly is related to hormonal changes, rather than just sebum/skin cells/etc.
Give it some time for your body to go through puberty and if your acne persists past the age of 18/19 then get it checked out.
I'm still getting hormonal acne now, and I'm 17. Try not to let it bother you too much, it will just weigh you down, and it will pass.

I developed acne in my late teens and was eventually successfully treated with tetracycline (for several years) and retinA. But I wish I had known then about the importance of diet. I gave up sugar, refined carbs, seed oils, and processed food 18 mos ago, and it has reduced inflammation and improved my health enormously, including my skin.

I believe that the long-term use of the antibiotics impacted his gut flora.

Don't worry, it will go away with time because acne scars even if they are really dark they peel away. It really depends but in a matter of 3 months it will definitely lighten more and more. Apply fresh Aloe Vera because it has properties to heal big scars.
also don't care about what people say, even our parents sometimes they do not realize consequences of their sayings. Acne doesn't define your beauty. You are handsome with or without it. 💕💕 take care and do not stress. Everything will be fine, I promise you 💚

I also got prescription skin washes and creams. I haven't tried Accutane because my brother used it and became severely depressed and suicidal. @@ShepherdsCreek Okay, good! Diet plays a pivotal role in skin health. Next, I would suggest you change up your soaps and stick to one. Also, every week change sheets so your pillow cases are always clean. They say hair oil can spread to pillow cases and cause breakouts. For me, if I don’t wash my hair weekly, I start to break out from the oily hair follicles. I’m 31 so I am currently going through hormonal acne. Not as bad, mostly when it’s time for my menstrual. Last, I would suggest seeing a doctor to get a hormone test completed. It helps to see what your body is lacking. Importantly, our body needs, Vitamins A,C,D,E and K for good skincare.

Since all my vital signs were always normal, and I never missed a day of work/school I was always blown off by doctors when trying to focus on it as a problem. A TEAM of bacterial specialists have no better a guess than me: I think I just produce more sebum than normal. Stress? yes. Not obese, don't smoke, no alcohol, all on the list of usual triggers.

A d if they say well tge pill for dud not work.. why would topical get a new Dermo. You have to give the topical 2 to 3 months you will break out as it is clearing all toxins out of you skin forcing them to surface. However once your face starts to clear and before only cleans with warm water and extremely mild soap Do not use any other OTC in between or on your skin. Once your skin. Clears you can do a face mask once a month use all natural .. or make one yourselves. Birth controls can cause acne. I am 44yrs old dud nit have acne until I was in my late teens a d on to adults hood. I used Retin A in early 2000 and did not have any more acne until 2020 due to face masks. Mine you do not combined any other chemicals with your skin . Check out the food you eat Sugar can cause us Acne prone persons teens or adults to get things like yeast to over grow which can become entangled in your acne. Some Dermos will prescribe a topical antibiotic to help clear the major ones that could be bad and infected then Rentin A after. Do not take Oral medications for any type of Acne .

Ask you doctor about Isotretinoin, also called Acutane, for severe cases, many people have had amazing success with it. I'm not paid by them or anything, it is really good for cystic acne.

also planet ayurveda's skin care pack helps to manage acne problems. my sister was struggling with face acne, then she tried skin care pack and now she's ok now. i think you also have to try this product.

I wished I have known differin gel earlier. Its cracy that one product helps so much and many people out there are unaware of it.

to anyone in the comments: I have bad anxiety (I take medication) but one of my outlets is picking at my face/acne. Does anyone have a better alternative that I could do?
