Ahhh! The master of moviemaking has struck again with some glorious masterpiece. Great work man! I catch myself in watching your videos again and again and feeling pleased all the time over and over again. I just love it!
Really good video. Your final point on the contradiction of featuring a touchbar on something mechanical is very salient. As such the execution for this board reminds me a lot of "concept phones": at its best, it's a way to show off your R&D prowess, but the value prop just isn't there (yet).
Tbh your video made me want one haha. HHKB is my favorite layout but, the touch pad seems so fun to play with. Amazing video as always my guy. Keep it up!!!!
Ayyeee, never thought to be this sudden for your next vid haha. Btw how's your workflow editing with davinci? I thought you were using Premiere & After Effects before.
Haha trying to get more consistent with it for sure. Still using Premiere and After Effects but I just grade everything in Resolve bc the colour stuff is just so much more powerful
I'm currently daily drive this keyboard (I got the Back to the Future version with Tecsee Purple panda and adter market keycaps). I choose this keyboard because its a well balanced between unique and functional. For what you get in terms of build quality and features, its actually not very expensive.
@@AvinashKunjamboo I have been daily drive this keyboard for about 1 months now, been a keyboard nerd for about 10 years already but this is my first true high end custom (coming from the massive Keychron Q6) and my first HHKB board. This is my experiences using this board: - When I said this board isn't very expensive, its only apply to the barebone kit, for an extra 120usd, unless you really want the "matching" keycaps, its not worth it. I got my barebone kits for 400usd (yes, what you get in the video are all included in the retail version), 35usd for the Tecsee Purple Pandas, 12usd for stabs (I bought modded Cherry stabs from a local makers, its fantastic with no tick) and 40usd for Xmi Space Cadet keycaps, which got extra keycaps. -The Keyboard is extremely well machine (there are a total of 3 piece of aluminum case and 1 brass weight, being someone who works with CNC for 4 years, I can confirm that those are not cheap to machine) with minimal machine marks, very tight tolerances. Add with things like wireless charging, bluetooth (which can lasted for several months if you don't blast RGB 24/7), leaf spring mount,... make the 400usd price seems pretty reasonable, not cheap, but worth the value. -The board is extremely customizable with different foam and leaf springs config, which can change the typing feels and sound. If anything I recommend the take apart the keyboard atleast once to see how much works Angry Miao put into engineering this keyboard, the interiors are both beautiful and functional. -The first 3 days using it, I can't got used to the default layout either, which is why I re-config the layout with Angry Miao software (which is easy to use but I wish they also allow Via and QMK support) to a close to default HHKB layout, the aftermarket keycaps really come in handy here. Afterward I found the keyboard to be extremely enjoyable the used. My only complaints are that this keyboard don't have split backspace like a true HHKB and you can't re-config the touch bar to sth different. - The touch bar ironically is sth that I'm least excited about, yes its very well implemented and I don't have any problem using it or missed swipe. But I personally don't use arrow key a lot so this is more of a bonus then a selling feature, but even removing the touch bar I still think the board is worth the asking price. Overall I'm very happy with my purchased, but I also think that this is a very niche keyboard that don't appeal to 90% of the users both new and vets, If you got the money for it and really care about built quality, extra features and a pretty unique layout, this is the keyboard for you. BTW, new comer to your channel and really like your content so far, can't wait to see your next videos
Great vid. Amazing color and visual. I heard angry meows gonna sell a solder pcb which supports hhkb layout in the short future. I hope you can try that out.
Great review! I’ve been using the keyboard for about a month now and I kinda like the layout since it keeps the 2u backspace on r4 and caps lock. Doesn’t really mess me up when I switch to other keebs (tkl is king) just the touch bar 😅😂
Hello, i like the way how you review and approach the functionality of a keyboard. But i was wondering, will you make a video about using ortholinear keyboard for 30 days?
Why not use CapsLock as the FN1 (or whatever you call your macro layer) key, and then use WASD for the arrows? I think an actual improvement to this concept would be putting a 4 or 8 way clicky joystick type thing either on the front edge of the board, or if you didn't want it sticking out, maybe where right alt is on a standard 60/65% and larger layout? I'm pretty sure those joysticks (like on real arcade machines) literally already exist in micro form, as they're used on mini replica arcade machines.
I get what you're saying, I agree actually. I think if you want to and train yourself you can get used to this board or like the HHKB or any other 60% keyboard, however, if given other options and like you said, if you're like an enthusiast and you like to tinker this is probably not the board for you. I'm interested to see what they come up in the future. Nice work on this vid.
To me, Angry Miao is not like other brands in the custom keyboard market. They usually come out with different designs compared to most boards, with their own custom-designed keycaps and switches. Not to mention the price certainly makes it premium, and I believe their keyboards are available in limited quantity, so one could argue the rarity makes it also premium.
but is it premium?
HAHAH
Thank you a lot for our Compact Touch review. We like the time and effect you spent on the video!
Thanks for having me guys!
the king of keyboard reviews back at it again! I'm not even that into keyboards anymore, but I just can't stop watching your videos

Very cool video, I had very similar thoughts 🙂 Out of the box I love it and I feel the touch bar is its least interesting feature 😅

I'm not into keyboards (I use a 2013 blackwidow ulti) but this video popped into my recommended and I really enjoyed it!
What a compliment! Thank you!!
You're not into keyboards... Yet 😉
