I am not a Bengali, but, I love Tagore Songs. I search Tagore songs in U-tube and listen to them, Today, I happen to see this Kadambari Devi’s suicide note and listened to that on BADAM sponsored function.
Tagore died 55 years ago. His mis-adventure or whatever you say, with his ‘Bouthan’, happened when he was 23 years old and now, after more than a century, your good self seriously set on a course of research with a ‘letter’ purportedly written by Kadambari Devi.
In Satya Yug, one Ratnakar was hiding in a forest and killing and looting the travelers. Later, he became a saint and was known as Mahrshi Valmiki. He ws the first poet to introduce ‘Verse’ to the world with his ‘MAA NISHAAD TWAMAGAMO…..’,when a hunter shoot an arrow to a ‘mating stork couple’ killing one. He wrote the great Hindu mythological Epic Ramayan. In every Hindu home, it is read daily, at least one chapter or a couplet. No body ever dreams that Mahrshi Valmiki was a marauder .
Tagore’s contribution to literature is enormous. I think, in no other language, a poet has penned so many poems (more than 2250 in number). He has also composed the music for all the 2250 poems. Still more important that he published the ‘SWARA LIPI’ of all the poems in different news papers. I can hardly imagine that a person can copy all his work in one’s life time. His ‘GITANJALI’ brought the first Nobel Prize to India.
Dr. Saab, you did not see any merit in all these and burnt so much mid-night oil on a ‘last letter’ to malign a great personality. In which big joint family such type of ‘Devar-Bhavi’ sweet-sour episodes do not happen ? Even today? Have you not heard ‘Aamaar andho prodip’ dedicated to ‘Bouthan’, where he says- ‘Kaahaar pathey baair holey birahini Tomar AALOK RINEY karo tumi Aamay rini ’
Next research work for you could be a lead from this letter that whether Ratnakar had ever killed a female traveler and if he did kill, whether he raped her or not. As a part of Chanakya Sloka says: Kshatriyah rono ichhanti, Brono ichhanti makshikhaa. i.e. a warrior wishes a war and a fly searches for a swollen wound.

Rajan Sir thank you for bringing up the human side of Rabindranath...I am more interested to know the poet as an ordinary individual....it's very true for us to know him as a person first....I just loved this video because in this you have mentioned about the weaknesses and tough moments that Rabindranath as a human underwent.....his biography would be so much appreciated....his relationship with Kadambari always makes me wonder how much devastating it would have been for Rabindranath to see her dead and yet he had to pretend as if things were ok....it's really difficult to see the inside of a man....celebraties are humans first and you have pointed out that vividly.....I am a Bengali but probashi.... struggling with my own mother tongue....I can't read literature and as you rightly pointed it's pathetic to be away ....I am trying my best but I really can't get the complete meaning of Bengali poems.....it takes me long hours to finish even a paragraph in Bengali.....sad but true ...so currently trying to join dots by first trying to understand who Rabindranath was as a person....thanks for writing on the suicide note....although imaginary upto certain extent but can't be completely unseen..... Rabindranaths love and feelings were unearthed in this book and hopefully brought back to a new life....
