This band composed this album so well. Johnny can't help but to bring that soul/r&b vibe everywhere with him. And this band killed it with the mellow, almost eerie soft parts but then they have these powerful heavy parts. They really know how to use dynamics musically and really use Johnny's voice and style to just outline everything so well. This is how to write music...
I agree, they have always been that way even in the original Emarosa. Although, the music was more simple, they still achieved the same interesting and dynamic approach that fits the singer. The best band I know that does this type of stuff is La Dispute. It's not a band for everyone, but it is pure poetry and pure art. Edit: the Vocalist writes poems and the band creates a song around the poem.
I have come back to this band for more than a decade. This band is untouchable. The I Still Feel Her series is still my favorite bit of anything to this day. Jonny's voice and the incredible music is ridiculous...But, my favorite line will always be: "She floats around inside my empty head...searching for." at 2:00, it is the best song...possibly ever.
I remember the first time I ever heard Emarosa. I was at a show, I believe it was the ADTR Homesick tour co-headlining with TDWP. And if I recall correctly the line-up was ADTR, TDWP, Emarosa, and Sky Eats Airplane. Up until that point I had never heard Emarosa but they took the stage and fucking blew me away. I got home that evening and had to check this record out. And what surprised me was that the record wasn't even as good as their performance. Talk about talent. The record is great don't get me wrong but when they took the stage that day it was like magic. I'll never forget the impression they left on me.
I can't believe that a human with this voice exists. It's fucking amazing his voice is fucking amazing. I wouldn't say that Emarosa is my favorite band, they are one of my favorite bands but Jonny is definitely in my top three singers.
They were still so fresh when this song came out, you can tell they were still working on music theory. But this will always be my favorite song, it's beautifully written.
Okay but how does he hit c5 at "her touch still moves my hair" with that kind of power and where can I learn to do that. I can sing a c5 but not like that.
Joshua Moscicki that’s his best singing talent, his clean screams are extremely powerful. What’s crazy is I don’t know if he’s even ever been professionally trained
@@michaelwilliams159I actually asked him about the grandma thing on one of his twitch streams, he said it was bs, his grandma showed him music which got him interested in singing, but he learned by himself imitating rnb singers
This sounds SO MUCH like something that would had been on DGD's first album, Whatever I Say is Royal Ocean. Just missing screaming. I love this song so much.
I remember when this first came out and I was in a band and we listened to it at band practice. 2:02 to 2:10 sounded so damn similar to a different band's song that was big at the time but I can't for the life of me remember what song. Anyone know? BTW one of my favourite Emarosa songs. Man I miss this era of music lol.
Where: Probably recorded in Rise Records, located in Oregon. When: This CD (which Pt. 2 is on) was released 7/8/08. What: "A City Called Coma Pt. 2" is the title, but it's a part of the I Still Feel Her series. With who: Emarosa, unlike Pt. 3 which is with Jonny Craig as a solo project. :D
I hardly can't believe these guys were signed by Rise Records. I'd say that their experimental style is similar to Tesseract, The Dear Hunter, or The Reign of Kindo.
Drawn to lines which fill the emptiness Searching for a place The conversations, well they start to turn To heal the wounds Don't fall asleep Don't fall asleep We can't afford you to be alone Don't fall asleep Don't fall asleep Don't fall asleep These dreams and the reality never seemed so refined Until I awoke to find... That this house is not a home But something I can not define How long will it be Until i turn this key and just walk away And this I find so unlike me Seeking the parts that are lost Never have I felt so deceived Don't fall asleep Don't fall asleep We can't afford you to be alone Don't fall asleep Don't fall asleep Don't fall asleep
@RADiR3L4ND The singer is the same guy that was on DGD's album Downtown Battle Mountain. His name is Jonny Craig, he also has some solo stuff, check out I still feel her part 3 if you like this!
Ugh I fucking love this song.... I like to listen to the chorus and think about the life I have today "no one could predict that I would ever get this far, for so long"🎵🎵🎵
I had a dream I finally listened to these series of songs and updated it on Facebook that I was doing so… So first thing I did when I woke up was just that
Looking through the comment section I am having a hard time figuring out if everyone is being sarcastic about Emarosa sounding like Dance Gavin Dance. For anyone who doesn't know, Jonny Craig used to be the lead signer for Dance Gavin Dance when they first came out.
Yea, I figured, i was hoping, maybe just maybe that City Called Coma wasn't the part 2... I don't know, I think it would have been better if he had of just halled it... I Still Feel Her part 2.... But what the heck, he's magnificent and there's nothing I can do that is anything better than he. :)
I love this fuckinggggggg song and jonny craig man like say what you want I really dont give a fuck I have so much respect for this man and he is by far among the best vocalists in this general genre of music along with green and Owen's . And that part from 225 to like 250ish man is everything
@TheKayngaroo i still feel her part 2 is actualy named a city called coma and was never officaly part 2 but that is belived to be part 2, my favorit section of i still feel her is part 3
Pt. 1: He begins his journey to her, fighting through ice, wind, and snow. Pt. 2: He arrives, barely alive, only to die in her lap with three final words. Pt. 3: She is haunted by regret and his memory...and by those last three words. Pt. 4: She has come to terms with his death. Their love has come too far to be stopped by death, and at last she finds comfort in his soul watching over her.
Perfect song for driving in the rain. Working in a warehouse, riding the MTA in NYC. You name it. Ahhh why does music suck now? Some one recomend me a dope ass band plzzzz (on par with this sound)

The beginning of this song is insane. That’s a lot of talent put in a short amount of time. Love it.
3:32-3:39. I feel every emotion of the dynamics that compliments Jonny's voice so incredibly haunting yet powerful.
Best song Emarosa ever did. Absolutely incredible

Luucky that's such a killer lineup
That line up 😭😍
Bro same here. Lol it was like 08 or 09. I was exactly the same. Never heard of them but after I saw them I was addicted.
I first saw them on that exact same tour too.
I can't believe that a human with this voice exists. It's fucking amazing his voice is fucking amazing. I wouldn't say that Emarosa is my favorite band, they are one of my favorite bands but Jonny is definitely in my top three singers.
True, it just sucks he has what ever bs going on that he keeps falling back into heroin. He's an amazing artist but an incredibly sad man.
He's my inspiration and the reason why i love singing so much
jonny*
'John' lmao
You should search up Daniel Tompkins. He's fkin crazy good as well. Especially in the song A Dream In Static.
one of the best songs ever from jonny :)
Maricela Castillo yup, so many good ones with dgd too. JC vocals are flawless
This album is so perfect. The perfect mix of guitar, drums, bass, vocals, and epicness.

Favorite album of all time.
Kat Howard not a bad choice at all. Still, I think their self-Titled album was a bit better than this one
ye
They were still so fresh when this song came out, you can tell they were still working on music theory. But this will always be my favorite song, it's beautifully written.

Quite possibly the greatest song ever written
Miss the OG emarosa.
same..
=(
Dubie LMAO this isn't OG emarosa. Listen to their very first EP, when Chris Roetter was the vocalist.
dgk55362 this is pretty og homie, this is when em was good
dgk55362 I mean I'm an assholefor saying that, Chris was good. But I liked Jonny w/ em more
The first 45 seconds, secures a record deal for sureee. Shits so dope omg. That drive, holy shit.
This guy in my English class introduced me to this song...I'm absolutely, positively obsessed.
Esta canción fue parte de mi adolescencia, y hasta la fecha, ya varios años después sigue siendo una mis canciones favoritas.

PSA it was Becoming Close to Closure by Of Machines. Great song.

I've always loved Emarosa! Their truly legit and their music really brightens my day.
Because in those balls are potential humans with angelic voices. I think about them all the time.

It's just that he stands out more in Emarosa. DGD is the one band where Jonny can't outshine everyone else completely.

Weird how much they sound like DGD when Jonny came on board. So good though.
lfaldrummer12 Emarosa doesn’t use bass.. DGD does
Johnny was the lead in dgd when they first came out, that’s probably why
This SONG SLAPS!!!!

Whoa the singer sounds like Dance Gavin Dance... If I didn't look at the title I would of thought it was.
this make me happy 33 i love it
there are those songs , however they aren't recorded by Emarosa , just by Jonny as a solo perform.
