Illidan didn't do what he did for his people. illidan always wanted more and more power. doing it for his people was the excuse to take on the fel, nothing more.
Velen did sacrifice a lot to save the few drainei left.
Wrong, Lalami. Very wrong. Illidan did what he did for ONE person. The one person he loved more than anyone. The one person he gave everything to protect the world for. Tyrande. And as I can only hope we have all learned... fighting save the ones you love, IS fighting to save the world.

Well Mists was one of the best expansions this game had, so I'm more than up for another Mists.

This is a great moment cus so far Velen has been portrayed as this perfect font of wisdom but Illidan exposes his crippling naivety. In these crucial events, Velen refrained from action because he became too reliant on the Light as a guide. His suspicions were in the right direction but he held back because he didnt trust them without validation from his faith - too used to having everything spoon fed to him through visions.
Faith that lights the dark, but also bright enough to blind. Something Blackbeard said in Pirates of the Caribbean.

One of Blizzards best cinematics ever. Illidan is such a complex and interesting character and Velen seriously looks like he's hiding something. But you can't help but want to have faith in the light in the same token and commend Velen for wanting to do the same. Just awesome. Well done Blizzard. Love it!!!

I am quite surprised to see all this...this SURPRISE, and disdain for
Illidan's behavior in the cinematic. People are now saying how dickish
he acts, and berating him for his rudeness towards the prophet.
Meanwhile im looking at everyone like, "Uh... What did you THINK he was
like???" Nothing was out of ordinary for me. THIS is Illidan! While
everyone got so caught up in the 'Illidan-can-do-no-wrong' hype, they
seem to have forgotten who Illidan is. He is not, and has never been, a
goody-good guy. Those dickish tendencies have been there from the jump.

Illidan, who joined up with the legion to help his people, became hated for it, the girl he likes married his brother, he was imprisoned on multiple occasions and even banished at one point, tried to kill Arthas for the common good but was stopped by the good guys, created an entire faction in order to save Azeroth, was nearly killed and then nearly possessed by the dark titan, who has a warden CONSTANTLY chasing after him trying to kill/imprison him, all in the name of saving Azeroth and defeating the Burning Legion: Oh, I won't understand your sacrifice? Cute.
The voice acting is amazing, the way Ramuul says "prophet" in full doubt almost gave me goosepumps.
From the first day I played Warcraft, I'd have never predicted that the series would evolve into waging a cosmic war against an infinite army of demons on their decrepit homeworld.
I love this series.

Didnt the worlds the draenei leave behind do kinda terrible due to the Legion following them? That's still alot of innocent lives lost for "fighting another day"
@@SnillhundReal I mean, had he not done that, the Legion would've won. Victory was ever only possibly because of the Draenei arriving on Azeroth.

This new starcraft expac looks awesome.
It only took him some tries but finally Velen has managed to space travel without crashing into the planet he aims for.

Maybe.... its Archimonde.... Again? Well.... we killed him two times, both times NOT in the Nether (except Myth Hellfire Citadel but does it count)? So... I think yes :D
I really hope they don't go overboard with Illidan.
It's nice that we're finally getting an honest "redemption" story out of WoW. Warcraft lore is full of good people who become monsters, heroes who become villains, but we rarely see a fallen hero redeem themselves, or have a villain turn to the side of good.
Illidan was always an interesting and complex character in WoW, someone who tried to do good but whose hubris, greed, arrogance, jealousy and personal weaknesses often had him seek out power to build himself up. He wanted to be a hero but kept judging himself against his brother, who was more at peace with himself.
Illidan seemed to settle into anti-hero territory, often doing bad things to try and achieve a good end, or succumbing to his temptations for power. "Burning Crusade" did him a terrible injustice, and his return was a welcome one.
That said . . . "Illidan was always right" is just as bad as "Illidan was a cackling supervillain". Illidan is intelligent, dedicated, crafty and powerful, with a unique insight into the working of magic and demons. However, he's got little to know true knowledge of the Light and its followers. He's got no business telling Priests and Paladins that their faith makes them weak or mistaken.
One of the nice things about WoW was that the Light was always an unambiguous force for good. I really don't want to see it turned into something ambiguous. Followers of the Light can be mistaken, can be corrupted, can be in the wrong. The Light should not.
I don't want Illidan to become a know it all Mary Sue anymore than I wanted him to be a mustache twirling bad guy. The other heroes should not be looking to him for approval, and he should not be presuming to tell someone like Velen his business.

0:56 I'm going to go with Kil'jaeden being on the left, with the longer hair, and Archimonde on the right with less hair and the signature back decoration obscuring the back of his head. It took a while considering the traits I most associate with KJ are big ol' horns, red skin, thorns on his face, and the small beard.

I'm so glad to see Velen taking a more upfront role in this xpac. It's about time Blizzard used more of its race leaders in the main storyline of an xpac, of course I suppose they didn't have much choice since they killed Varian.
Velen deserves it. Out of all the playable races he's the biggest victim of the Legion.
He also has personal relationships with all the main commanders of the Legions, namely Archimonde & Kil'jaeden themselves.
They were one of the first contacted by Sargeras himself.
A personal agenda for Velen? I can't wait to see Argus

WoW: Legion and Diablo 3 did a lot about the power of choice. In Diablo, humans had the ability to choose what they became. In Legion, well, you just watched the video. I wish Blizzard would do more content based around morality and philosophy, even if it goes over some people's heads.

The only way this cutscene could've been better is if, when Velen said "You will never understand what I did to save my people.", Illidan lost his temper for a moment and screamed "LOOK AT ME!!!" with his wings all flaring out and stuff.

Oh Illidan you edgy PoS, giving Velen a hard time for not standing his ground? How about that time on WC3:TFT when you escaped from Maiev so that you could regroup and gain new allies. Or later when you fled to Outland so you wouldn't have to face KilJaeden's wrath for not destroying the Lich King. Yeah real ground-stander you are Illidan! I'm guessing he never learned the Vengeful Retreat ability?
Also, easy to talk about ground-standing when you don't have complete responsibility for the survival of your entire people; men women and children. As far as i know you can just recruit new DHs from the Nelfs/Belfs. Can't exactly replace entire generations of draenei after the full weight of the Legion bore down on Argus. Sure it's good that Velen is becoming pro-active but please Blizz don't turn him into some vengeful dude, there's already plenty of those in the Warcraft Universe. It's good to have a character that has faith in the force of Good. Don't need more edgy 'faith and morals are weak you need to just be violent' types. ktnx
