What a great rundown!! Just went over my first analysis and I think we have a small coolant leak, but enough that it appears to be causing some damage. Never would have caught it without testing the oil. Priceless tool and a solid explanation from you!!!
Oxidation is also caused by blow by. The oil rings and compression rings keep hot combustion gasses from entering the crank case. This will cause excessive heat levels in the crank case air. This is a great indicator of the rings and or valve(s) are wearing out. The tbn can be looked at as an ant acid or Tums for your engine. Bad enough fuel dilution can cause the block to saturate. If this happens you can get the bad failure in as a window in the side of the motor. Bad day. If you at anytime have a sample in question please feel free to ask opinions. I'm not always correct but like Adam we are well versed in oil sampling. Oil labs are also very good about answering questions. Oh one other thing. The samples Adam is showing from a full service lab. The bench top sample systems typically do not do fuel dilution and don't show soot levels accurately. They can give you a simplified version. If you have high metals in oil than I suggest getting a sample sent into a full service lab if that happens.
I have been using ALS FOR MY OIL ANALYSIS. They do not include fuel dilution or oxidation in their analysis. I will be requesting these when I send in my latest sample from my F150, 3.5 L turbo., truck is 8 years old with 167,700 km on the clock. I found your video very informative and enlightening, thanks
Hugely helpful! Thank you very much! I just got a Blackstone lab showing copper at 21 vs 11 normal. Everything else good. Your oil cooler suggestion was a great relief to hear. That would be a welcome solution.
This is a great report interpretation. Looking forward to testing the oil and trying to increase the longevity of my truck. Which company provided the main oil analysis reviewed here? 02 Silverado 5.3 Z71 4x4 288k
My silicon levels are reading between 19 and 25 with the last one at 40(which ALS ) high lighted. I use Ford oem filters and change them usually once a year.

glad you added some insight!!
@@DIYSEMI I'm willing to help anyone at anytime.
I use a full service lab in Canada called ALS. Is there any way I could post my latest sample to you.

What would cause 285 ppm copper and 90 ppm lead, without the engine knocking or showing any other signs of problems?
I've always been told that is bearings I think you can ride with a rod bearing for a while not sure I'm kind of having problems too
I do them on my aircraft and cars.
I've been using a NAPA oil that has titanium in it.
Does this go for boat samples also
Gas engines can be slightly different combustion gasses etc
