Back in the day when I was setting (connecting) iron. That yo-yo had just started to be mandatory. We use to ride the Headache Ball and the pice that we were going to set next. Rode a HEADER BEAM FOR THE BOILER THAT WAS I THINK 10 TONS WITH 50% BOLT UP BEFORE WE COULD CUT IT LOSE. FROM ABOUT 50' ELEVATION TO I THINK 125' ELEVATION. DONE SOME COOL 😎 AS SHIT HANGING IRON.
I’m a retired Union Boilermaker and have worked on jobs with Ironworkers and believe me they do drop stuff once in a while I’ve even seen them throwing bolts or tools to each other up on the iron we don’t get along with each other very much but we do have respect for each other
Ass a welder for many years on the ass of connectors i used to hate them . But how ive come to love them butchers in the sky . I soon learnt no matter how mannyvtimes they cut it to short and gouged the hell out of it , i could always fill the gap. I ised to bitcj a lot, then one day realised how difficult the schedule was to keep , and soon experiemced why some mem ate paid 4 dollars over scale. I love everu one of you bagnin hombres
iron worker welder red seal cwb certfied worked on bridges, hi rises, saw mills, atom smashers too. wore the same harness for 15 yrs lost 3 hard hats droped 2 wrenches. won my divorce. and retired at 45. ride motorcylces and would do it again

I use to climb bill boards supper high in freezing cold weather no gloves I can see my self connecting beams and unhooking from the Crain tool belt, nuts and wrench,safty line, hardhat,I got balence and I can read body language so I can figure out the next move.i can cut iron with a torch.
There is a tag on it and before removing the tag we write the number where the tag was . It will be in the top bolt hole of the h beam so you know which part is the top and what side goes where . Sorry English is not my first language
Well typically the blueprint shows, but it's also called reading the iron any decent connector can do it in most situations. Lot of structural jobs are setup so beams go on the west side and south side of the clips or maybe east and north.
