    There was a store that I want to want to set sold exotic animal skeletons. One of their means of completely stripping flesh from the bones was to leave the bones on an ant hill for a few days.

      For taxidermy purposes that would work really well! I know a lot of taxidermists use dermestid beetles for this 😊

    I used a Christmas turkey that way years ago and it turned out VERY well. As I planned on picking up a turkey next time I go to the market anyway I am going to do it again just to see what twenty five years of experience has taught me.

    I once used a pig skull left over from a company picnic pig roast. There was a bullet hole in the middle of the fore head, it was a great piece of terrain. I donated it to my local game store after years of use. I'd do it again. Great vid Benji. 👍

      @@BenjisHobbies it was, I made tusks from mili- putt, they were about 3inchs tall, it was fun to have on the table, tho honestly your chicken bone pieces look way better than mine did.

    I love how the video is about the chicken bones, but actually has so much else in it that's great. Be good to see the leopard spot technique explained in a video when it comes up again. I gotta say how awesome and alien the sternum from the chicken looks as well!

      Thanks buddy! It was a really fun video to make despite it taking me a lot longer to do than I had originally thought it would. I’m really pleased with the results.
      I’ll be sure to go in to more detail on the leopard spot technique comes up again, which will probably be sooner rather than later 😉
      The diversity in the chicken bones really gave plenty of options to play with and I definitely have some more ideas if I decide to do this again!

    This is a really clever idea! Really should paint my own Mando at some point, took me enough prints to get it right! The scatter terrain pieces are excellent, the 3D prints just sell the whole effect.

    What a great idea!!! Using real bones also give you that distinctive porous surface on them!

      Thanks! They definitely have a different look and texture to other materials. You can definitely tell when bones have been 3D printed.

    Then proceed with the rest of the project.

      I got it for Christmas, although I’m trying not to use it to print things unless I need them. I think it could get addictive!

      Absolutely! I mean, the bones would just be going to waste otherwise so may as well get some use out of them. The entirety of that chicken got used!

      Sculpting in cow bone with a dremel is always an option. But best to use raw sunbleached ones that have been dug down in the ground for a couple of years, apparently. My local luthier does that with moose bones to make all the nuts for his guitars.
