Grew up in Chicago, lived in NYC for 23 years and been all over the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic coast and have spent tons of time in CA and up and down the West Coast, and eaten pizza in all those places and more. I goddamn love a white clam pie from the NE and after many years learned to appreciate NY slices, which despite NYers loud and constant claims is NOT the greatest style in the US. Detroit style is good, but honestly, it's a Sicilian mixed with a deep dish. I dig Cali and West Coast weirdo salad pies, but hands down my forever fave is the Chicago tavern pie. (And deep dish is great once every five years.)
Neapolitan: Probably the best pizza there is. Roman: Top tier. Grandma Style: Really good. One of the best to make at home. Detroit: Really good, sauce should be on top, can make a good one at home with the right pan. Cooked sauce optional. Best is lightly cooked. That one too thick of dough for me. New York: Amazing pizza. Versatile. Toppings can set it off. Probably second best pizza. New Haven: Fantastic. A real treat but hard to find in my area. Tavern Style: Absolutely give me that. Cracker Style: Pass. Leave and go somewhere with a tavern style. Chicago Stuffed: I don't want to offend anyone but no thank you. Rather eat a salad. I would however have the original Italian version. Chicago Deep Dish: Better than Chicago Stuffed, way worse than Tavern Style. If I can't have the Tavern style, give me the salad again.
An average quality Detroit style pizza will not beat an average quality NY style, but I would argue that the BEST Detroit beats the best NY. Its very rare, but a Detroit slice in that upper stratosphere will blow your mind. Its an inch and a half thick but weighs nothing at all, melts in your mouth like cotton candy or a crispy creme donut when you bite into it. Its that super light texture that allows the dark crispy caramelized cheese edge to jump out in stark contrast and then you've got a fireworks show going off in your mouth and in your brain. If its just an average quality pie, its a little heavier, denser, greasier, and now the crispy dark edge is just more of the same, the whole thing is one dimensional.
All amazing, get them all inside you. With tomaters native to the Americas and bread from the other half of the planet they come together for a great combo everyone enjoys.
Not sure how 90s McDonalds' pizza's style would fall on. It was baked with TurboChef's microwave/infrared/air-fryer hybrid oven that eventually developed into SubWay's oven some years later in the late 90s. Closest was the Chicago Pan style pizza that has the butter coated bottom crust with ground parmesan. The video for this crust was taken down, not sure if McDonalds had something to do with it but it won multiple awards and it's unforgettable after tasting it.
Being in Phoenix, we have most of these styles and even some of the same places (Giordano's, Lou's...a lot of Chicago transplants here). Sadly, I'm too poor to be able to afford it all that often. I'm from PA originally but I love the Chicago styles (even the tavern/cracker which we also have around here from a few places because we have Chi themed bars).
@@stevep2380 It's nice to have so many options in one area at least, and they're not even usually hard to find. I guess that's a benefit of the city not really having its own pizza style and so many transplants. We get a little of everything.

@@rasyay With no disrespect to biological cycles that make human reproduction possible, if there’s one thing I don’t want to think about when discussing pizza, it’s a bumbaclaat.
@@DavidFSloneEsq Yuh thinking to hard bumbaclatt🤣🤣I was jus wondering how he know much a pepperoni imean pizza🤦
Sat here WAITING half way through the video for NY style. I had to see if you guys would do it right. 5/5 is right. LET'S GO BABY!
Supposedly Umberto's of New Hyde Park LI NY, started the Grandma Pizza. Hand crushed whole tomato and garlic 🧄.
Some people complain about the oil on the New York pizza but that's how it's supposed to be.
So enjoyable to watch! Great concept!
I'd personally take that bar pizza but ONLY cause of how crunchy it is 😮
What a great piece of video.
I loved.
I am a crazy and euphoric pizza lover!!! 😋🍕✨💫
Chef Leo is the GOAT
would all the Dough be the same or are they different only asking as i'm new to pizza making and we don't have all these styles in uk
Awesome video man. I love the Instagram, but we need more youtube!!!
Dude. Your comment just brought me tears of joy.
Question: for the raw honey is it made to be like a jam to put on sandwiches or toast sorry if it’s a stupid question im just curious 😅
🎩👌
I'm glad I found you guys this is great content and real Chicagoans like myself lol 😂 born and raised West Side Little Village I'm half Sicilian half Mexican all my family were immigrants. You had to say Easter Pizza lol one of my favorites ever we called it Pizza Genda great stuff guys you got a subscriber and will share with family
I miss Leo's channel, nice to see him again.
We can all live in unity that was epic
Great educational video!
this was a fun video, nicely done
I think I would be ok in Chicago. Wonderful pizza and an education! Nice job!
Finally! Somebody actually has Giordano's in a pizza guide! The best!
All amazing, get them all inside you. With tomaters native to the Americas and bread from the other half of the planet they come together for a great combo everyone enjoys.
Gracias ❤
Not sure how 90s McDonalds' pizza's style would fall on. It was baked with TurboChef's microwave/infrared/air-fryer hybrid oven that eventually developed into SubWay's oven some years later in the late 90s. Closest was the Chicago Pan style pizza that has the butter coated bottom crust with ground parmesan. The video for this crust was taken down, not sure if McDonalds had something to do with it but it won multiple awards and it's unforgettable after tasting it.
What about a Sicillian pie? Or did a grandma style kind of make up for that.
Glad you did a roman style though. That's my all time favorite.
Nothin like a New York pizza! But I love all styles. Good stuff.
Jets pizza is out here in Phoenix now if you want to venture out and try Detroit style.
@@stevep2380 It's nice to have so many options in one area at least, and they're not even usually hard to find. I guess that's a benefit of the city not really having its own pizza style and so many transplants. We get a little of everything.
This is excellent.Thank you.
My favorite is Detroit style
Check out South Shore Bar Pizza from Massachusetts, huge almost “cult-like” following and I’m bias.. but it’s amazing!
New Haven coal-fired 'abeets' is the best, closely followed by Detroit/Romana/Grandma style and Chicago tavern pizza.
Chef Leo makes the best Chicago deep dish! Hands down!
Really cool. Learned a lot
I love all pizza but after watching this New Haven is now on my bucket list.
i would have given that New Haven Apizza " Abeetz " a 2 , forget the tourist joints in NH, go to Modern Apizza , also get up to Middletown and hit Jerry's for the best Apizza in the world
Love from Bari, Italy !
Tasting cold pizza, wow, this gonna be great!
Growing up in Havana before the revolution it was Deep Dish Pizza. YUM
“Fornaio” is baker, the “pizzaiolo” is someone who does pizza 🍕
Btw the napoletana looked decent
There are 2 types of romana: al taglio and the round one but with a thin and crunchy crust.
That looked good, Bonci pizza al taglio is really expensive
Gran bel video, complimenti, viva la pizza in tutto il mondo.
Try deep dish from Frankie's Touch of Italy Pizza in Monee, IL
Fellow Detroiter and pizza lover here. Lou Malnatis deep dish is definitely a 5
Lou Malnati's ALL DAY!!! But - where's the beef?!!? Meaning - it needs sausage. But it is delicious! Chicago/south Florida transplant here.
wanted to go cheese pie for the deep dish for easy comparison to stuffed.
Detroit sounds like my favorite... then deep dish... then Neapolitan.. just what i want.. in the end ill eat them all so far.. bottom is grandma ... 4 cuz i love my grandma and IF SHE DID make it ... perfect is too good to be true and grandma is awesome!
Oh Lemon Juice....
