@@piccadillycircus9416 I had one of the ribbon cables wrong and it burnt one I saw magic smoke and immediately unplugged it but it split the lcd cable open, maybe it just burned the film but I'm going to volt meter check continuity on everything and see if i can diagnose it if I can get it running again, Really discusted as the unit was working when i Took it apart just to clean and re glue diffusion lenses, Thanks for responding!
@@piccadillycircus9416 Yeah my ribbon cable got sizzled, perhaps it just split where it got burn and the rest are still connected and mend that one or two that melted away. might be really difficult as this 60" lcd ribbon lines are super tiny from the looks of it.

Hi, our flat cables release a sort of glue themselves when heated and pressed with the soldering tip, so they get sealed to the glass and to the PCB. You need to clean the contacts with solvent, just place the cable properly on the board and press it several times with the T tip at 350° as shown in the video.

Please Help I accidentally tore and broke my flexible cable; it was a carbon flexible cable made of thin plastic, similar to plastic tape. I found a replacement with the same size of pin, which is 40 pins with a 1mm pitch. Can I replace it with that FFC cable and tape it to the board and LCD glass?
i am in the mid of doing this acf repair. the problem is those pitch ...they are not 0.5 mm nor 1mm. i use one formula from google to measure those pitch on flex ribbon. so i want 30mm with 26 lines/pins. so i got 1.15mm pitch. I am tired asking this question to online Chinese seller they are so dumb and not answering my question but replying smthing not related at all. i even saw that flex ribbon you used in this video. but the question is what is the pitch ? i am looking for 30mm with 26 lines. hope you can tell me the pitch and width of that flex ribbon you used. thanks buddy

Hi, in the video we didn't use any tape, our flat cables gets sealed to the PCB simply using the soldering iron with "T" tip at the correct temperature, which is 350°C, as they contain a glue which gets released when soldering.

but how that work since the trace on the glass aren't conductive? (I'm trying to repair a very basic timer. After removing the flex I can see in the very slight reflection of those trace on the glass, I thought I also removed the trace (eg. an conductive paint) by removing the flex, but it looks the same as your. I tested the continuity of those trace, but they aren't so I don't understand how you can create a contact by simply putting your flex on it. Anyone know?
Hi @wernerpd777, yes, denatured alcohol can be used, but compared to an electronics-specific solvent you will have to repeat the operation several times in order to remove all residues.

Hi, we don’t use any glue. The liquid we apply with the brush on the pads and on the LCD traces is a bit of solvent, to clean any residues of the broken flat cable. Then, the new cable gets attached simply pressing with the soldering iron set at the correct temperature.

Hi, the one shown in the video is a carbon ribbon cable and it’s not soldered on the pads, so it doesn’t need heat to be removed. Other kinds of flat cable (such as FPCs etc.) are soldered and so they need de-soldering to be removed (you may have a look at this video as a possible reference store.minitools.com/en/video_tutorial/how-to-fix-audi-a3-8l-a4-b5-a6-c5-tt-8l-instrument-clusters-with-sepdisp09/)
I'm guessing this would be a fix for a screen plug that comes loose so that the display gitters. Apparently this is a common problem, shame then on the makers for installing this poor design.

Was this a ribbon cable running from the LCD as I too need to repair one from that I don't know if its possible.
@ yes the one running from LCD , it is possible to bond it back on PCB , but you have to be careful not to overheat it.

The glass is conductive it has a transparent conductive metal oxide film lookup ito glass (Indiuma Titanium Oxide)
