Also Chris is getting SO GOOD at Rig Rundowns - he keeps a positive attitude, he's engaging, he asks good questions, and he lets the artist and tech do the majority of the talking. Exactly how it should be done!
No kidding - former bassist for Racer X with Paul Gilbert! Y'know, Marilyn has some REAL musicians working with him, so you'd think he'd want to "up his game" a bit and quit showing up to gigs drunk or drugged out. He has the chance to really put on some mind-blowing shows.
If you find yourself in north east Los Angeles, step into Juan's home away from home, Future Music. Last time I was there I found a glo-in-the-dark dead horse over drive.
When you have a bass tech like this... you can only be a happy musician... both Juan and his tech are sweating pure passion for what they do... great !!!
I was a huge Mars Volta fan (still am) but I had NO idea Juan was the bass player in Racer X all these years...I never connected the dots...his licks in Scarified are legendary!!!!! (YRO too)
I was waiting for this sooo long! Juan is amazing, I was so happy when I knew he was joining Manson! It's sad, that Tyler's and Twiggy are no more in the band, because their gear wold've been really interesting too. Anyways, thank's Premier Guitar for keep showing us these Rundowns!!
Juan seems like a really cool guy, a lot of the positive vibes in Manson shows are definitely because of him. Wish we got to see Paul on camera but I guess he was busy doing things, but Juan is the man!
I was smiling throughout the whole entire juan alderete segment. and im not really familiar with any of his music. but i cant wait to see him live once he's recovered more from his accident and covid is over.
@@AntonioKowatsch Has nothing to do with the butt of any joke...Guitarist tend to use more gear and go into more detail than it. While the bass players tend to be more to the point and have a simpler signal path. Also if you watch almost any Rundown the guitarist video's tend to take up 10-20 minutes and the bass player tends to take up 5 or 6 minutes at most so it's just weird
Yeah, just an uninspired, rushed run down by a tech who clearly had other priorities,- like dinner(are you kidding?Diabetic?).Not exactly an interesting or original set up anyway; could have rented it from the local Guitar Center.Manson's music is interesting, but the actual sounds and tones usually are not.
Juan is such a great guy and musician that it could be a blast to seat with him talking bass while sipping few ice cold Coronas with some Tequila or Mascal and chilly salt shots.
I own the same black Schecter PT Diamond series guitar that he displayed. It's a great little machine. Definitely good for harder edge stuff as those pups are very hot. Schecter doesn't get a lot of recognition but I would recommend this guitar without hesitation, the hardware is top notch and it plays quite well and has a very nice fast neck.
@@notebender4 Solid for sure! Regardless, I was really impressed with the quality given the price point. I installed Duncan Distortions (SH-6) in mine. The stock pickups seemed to lack clarity. \m/
@@GearBoxTy If you mean by 'clarity' that they were somewhat muddy in all positions I agree... How did the split coil sound after the new pups?... I'm considering doing that specifically to get more tone variance when they are used that way...
The guitar tech seems like he gives 0 fucks about doing this rundown. Juan on the other hand, is the man! He actually gave a bunch of fucks about doing the rundown. Juan made this episode worth watching for sure. 🤘🏻
These videos have evolved so well. Please keep up the good work. If Marilyn Manson punched my guitar he would have to finish the show from a body cast.
Quite curious, I always assumed Mason's guitarists used to chop the bass and mids and pump the treble, at least in Zim Zum's and John 5's era, and I also had that impression when I saw them live this year in Portugal. It seems I was wrong after all, perhaps the type of pups Paul uses compensates for that.
There is no point. People act like buffered pedals are sooo bad, then have to go buy a buffer pedal because their signal is so degraded after 20 feet of cable.
Also Chris is getting SO GOOD at Rig Rundowns - he keeps a positive attitude, he's engaging, he asks good questions, and he lets the artist and tech do the majority of the talking. Exactly how it should be done!
Chris is a musician's journalist. He's a fan of most of his interviewees and it shows in the questions he asks and his enthusiasm.
Juan Alderete still being the coolest. Wishing him a speedy recovery in 2021.
I'm not even a Manson fan but Juan is the shit!

From chag chag chag to jig jig jig jig to even turrrrr and bhurrrrr - he can do it all!
Was going to comment the same thing, not my musical taste at all but what a thoroughly lovely bloke.
If you find yourself in north east Los Angeles, step into Juan's home away from home, Future Music. Last time I was there I found a glo-in-the-dark dead horse over drive.
His tech is like, a match in heaven. I can see they had so much fun along the tour. What a great professional they are.
When you have a bass tech like this... you can only be a happy musician... both Juan and his tech are sweating pure passion for what they do... great !!!
Juan is such a cool dude - totally down to earth, super humble, major music/gear nerd in the best way. Dude is a class act
Definitely seems very laid back but excited to be playing that’s a professional. Just one thing playing with Manson grow the hair back lol.
I love how straight forward this guy is, "Stays in tune. Good. Like it." --*Next guitar*--
Chris is by far your best interviewer imo
Juan playing with Manson is like John Petrucci playing in Green Day
Like Gil playing with Manson... I'd love to see a collab between those.
Maybe, but he still gets to have fun while cashing a pretty good pay check. Theres a lot worse artists he could work with.
It’s about the money
exactly. racer x legend juan.
Jesus Of Suburbia indeed.
Pedalsandeffets is so underrated , I love the channel
Far from underrated.
I was a huge Mars Volta fan (still am) but I had NO idea Juan was the bass player in Racer X all these years...I never connected the dots...his licks in Scarified are legendary!!!!! (YRO too)
Racer X had the craziest runs!
He called himself John Aldrete in the Racer X days.
I believe he was in the Scream to with Bruce Boulliet & John Corabi great underrated band.
juan ftw! huge influence on my bass playing
Juan is always enthusiastic, it brightens me up
Fan of Juan's since the Racer X days. He is such an amazing musician and seems to be a super cool guy(much like his Racer X bandmate Paul Gilbert)
what do you do to keep them in tune? ''change strings every day''.....OK.....
Pray for Juan
Juan seems like a genuine cool person and his tech is dope af, those two guys delivered one of the best rig rundowns that i've watched so far!
only here for juan
Me too
Yep
I'm sorry I missed this when it came out. Juan is one of my bass heroes. Love hearing him talk about his gear.
Massive Juan fan. Love that man with a passion.

Twiggy plays for A Perfect Circle now. Geordy White...you can check his gear out. They did a rig rundown a while back

A buffer after FOUR Boss pedals.. "keeps it tight"
The tech and the rig,- def just a paycheck.About as inspired and inspiring as an corporate hotel insurance plan. You know what's cool? NOT this...
@@markferguson3745 😆 👏👏👏
Yes Nicks finally getting a rig rundown bout time!
You go Juan!
I have just a question for the guitar tech: Do his guitars stay in tune?
And that's all he knows about it..... not a real good guitar tech
John K I can appreciate it tho... it’s refreshing. Better than “I keep my action at .374 “
That bass Juan holds looks fun to play, like its weight is distibuted very well.
Chris Kies' interviews make the world go 'round
Awesome,
Gone back to old school simple John5 style guitar rig.
This is a beast of an episode. Who'd have thought Manson gear could be so fun
who'd have thought it wouldn't be??
When the bass players rundown is longer than the guitarist...
Yeah, bass players tend to take their playing more serious than guitarists but they're still the butt of many jokes. It's weird.
Yeah that is just Juan Alderete being Juan Alderete.

Thanks PG!!! I love the rig rundowns so much!!
Bro Juan is wearing a locust hoodie hype
here for Juan
Yo soy fan de Juan desde el 2001 lástima que ya no siga en TMV
no wonder they sounded so good on this last tour. I love Manson, but this last show at Irvine was the best Id ever heard them sound
I love Juan! He's such a gear nerd!
As a LP custom snd prophecy guitarist i love the solo 2s great lp style guitar.the new solo 2 supreme is beautiful with the carbon fiber side binding
Just in time! I was just wondering if there was a rig rundown for Manson!
That bass is soooo dope! I want one!
What a great run down! Thank you!
More Juan!!!
juan is so good at his stuff
Juan is no. 1
Wonder what they use the Line 6 Pod Pro for?
That's all well and good, but... Does it stay in tune?
I couldnt give two sits about Marilyn manson. Im here for Juan!
Wow.. how in the world that I miss this
Shout Out to Mark Lubetski!! the seconds he explained it, i tip may hat off to him
Man, Juan is the man.
Juan is here?! Hell yeah!
That first warwick bass it freaking great. Great body, p bass pickups, kill switch.
Juan Alderete reppin' that Locust hoodie!
Got to see him play that OG Raider bass last night, and got one of Paul's guitar pick....
Just got an Enzo. It’s a must now. Cheers.

wtf, Juan in Manson's band?
He's playing live with him since Twigy got accused of rape
dude since s year
He has a really nice presence live. It was quite funny he looked like Kira from Death Note due to the makeup from afar when I saw them live!
Manson is great. Especially his old stuff.
GET WELL JUAN!
Its too bad Manson doesnt take his live show as serious as his band does :(
Drugs
He's old and fat
You're a Media puppet. If u walked up to Manson's offices they wouldn't take u seriously, they'd call the Police.
Wait...........is that the guy from pedals and effects?

Shannon clearly did not want to do this interview.
Wiley keeping it old school. Too many players using too many "fancy" stuff. Simple is the way to go.
Robert Smith of "the Cure" setting up the stage at 2:26
There's a Waza Craft tuner!? Can anyone tell me what the point of that is excactly? In B4: "money"
