I’m 30 years old and I always had festoons. I absolutely hate them! I heard that putting filler in the area makes it worse because you have to deflate the festoon and not inflate them.
Hi Camilla Brandão, Festoons can be very challenging to treat because they are caused by fluid trapped in many small chambers, so they are hard to drain without an excessive number of pokes by a needle through the skin, which can cause more damage to the skin. It is also possible treat festoons with surgery, which you can see in this video - th-cam.com/video/a_4TnX_A0JA/w-d-xo.html
Hi kalsoom akhtar, Sorry, but I can't determine if that's enough filler, or if filler is even the right treatment for you, without ever seeing your face, or the issue you want treated.
I have a concaved malar groove creating hollowing and my cheek to sag. Please can you advise what's best? i was considering PRF but it seems it will not last for volume. I'm considering dermal fillers with teoxade redensity 2 but I'm worried about it migrating in the future and having to keep up with filling?
Hi @LW-77, The video features malar creases treated with hyaluronic acid filler placed at the bone level to prevent migration. Results, and preventing migration rely more on the technical skill and knowledge of the doctor placing the filler rather than the brand of filler. Hyaluronic acid fillers are biocompatible since hyaluronic acid naturally exists in the body, safely metabolized by the body with time, and safely dissolved with hyaluronidase which are good things. If permanent and semi-permanent fillers are used, they are prone to infection and foreign body reactions; and when they break apart, small pieces reach deeper tissues that require surgical removal, but surgery may not be able remove pieces embedded in deeper tissue. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi Felipe YTV, Thicker hyaluronic acid fillers for this area can last up to 2 years. A cheek implant may be an option, which does last longer, but it does require surgery, and eventually won't fit as you lose facial volume due to aging. Also, fillers are more comfortable as people do find implants to be uncomfortable. You can refer to these videos about cheek fillers and implants: th-cam.com/video/tzjKV3Jr2Ts/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/kpkIuOXkloI/w-d-xo.html
Hi @ravinderkaur8884, PRP, and its thicker form PRF, are for skin quality improvement, not for lasting volume. Volume of PRF lasts longer than PRP, but it only lasts 3 weeks, so it's not a replacement for hyaluronic acid filler, although both materials work well when combined. You can refer to this more recent video about it - th-cam.com/video/5f7_CLtYzNY/w-d-xo.html
Hi Raeh L , Fillers can help blend festoons, but it does depend on the individual case. A physical exam is needed to determine if filler can help you. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi H S, If your malar bags are intermittent, you should be tested for allergies. The ones described in the videos are usually difficult to treat because of trapped fluid in many small chambers. If yours come and go, then it's not the same issue, and likely an allergic reaction. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi @VibankKumar-uj7of, At your age, your face is still growing and maturing, and often these issues do correct themselves as your face continues to grow. If you still have the problem when you are a little older, say in your early 20s when your face has stopped growing, you can consider treatment then. I hope this helps you.
Hi Felix Claud, Sorry to hear that. You are still quite young, and your face is still maturing, so this problem may improve on its own as you get a little older. If you still have the problem when you are older, then treatment can be considered, but a physical exam is needed before making specific recommendations. I hope this helps you.
Felix Claud and Cruz Banaag, have you discovered any treatments for this? I’m Filipino as well and I can’t find any clinic and solution that can address this problem :(

Hi hkd empiri, Sorry to hear about your problem. If you have malar creases that are due to a volume deficiency, then massaging or dermarollers are not going to create volume. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Now it's been a week it's not going. Please please tell me if it will go away 9n it's own. I'm 26 and I don't have festoons or malar edema genetically
Hi Mariah, Sorry, but I would have to properly diagnose your issues first with an examination, and well as see the effects of your medications before I can say how to resolve them, or if they will resolve on its own. I hope this helps you.
@@AmiyaPrasadMD doctor, kindly tell me if an overnight protrusion of malar bags is temporary. Because this is most probably a swelling but it's been more than a week it's not going. Kindly tell me what can i do to get rid of this fluid because this is not fat. And also, i went to two dermatologists here in Pakistan. No one truly cares. So i will appreciate your help.
Hi@@Maria_Shoaib, If they suddenly appeared, it may be an allergic reaction. If your dermatologists are not helping you, you can see a local allergist for proper allergic testing. Please understand that I cannot diagnose the cause without performing a proper medical evaluation, which is needed before recommending treatment, or saying it can resolve on its own. I hope this helps you.

Hi Miss Molly, Sorry to hear about your problem. A proper examination is needed to determine the cause of these problems before treatment can be recommended. I hope this helps you.
Hi Nabil, Sorry, but a genetic or age-related volume deficit in the cheeks cannot be treated without some sort of medical cosmetic treatment. Hyaluronic acid, the material of the filler treatment shown in the video, is a naturally occurring substance within the body to retain moisture. Over-the-counter supplements cannot create facial volume. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi sadia nasir, If the bags are caused by loose skin, then a laser can be used. If the malar bags are caused by trapped fluid, a laser can cause complications due to heating the fluid. PRP can help improve their appearance in both instances. An examination is needed to determine what treatment is best. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi@@sadianasir3540, Trapped fluid in malar bags can be caused by pollution, smoking, and other lifestyle and environmental factors. Loose skin is often associated with aging, but can also be genetic. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi nikki townes, The only bad side effects from hyaluronic acid filler placement is placing it to close to surface of the skin, making the volume look soft, doughy, and unnatural. In such cases, filler can be safely broken down by the body, or dissolved with hyaluronidase, but there are cases where filler is harder to dissolve such as in cases on encapsulation. However, doing this treatment at the deeper level above the bone and between the muscle gives a look of more structure, and also puts the filler in a place that is more predictable, with less chance of migration. I hope this clarifies things for you.
Hi, Sorry to hear that, but you're still very young, with your face growing and maturing until your early 20s, so there is still a lot of time for this to correct itself. I hope this clarifies things for you.

Hi Cynthia Frost, Sorry to hear about your problems. I suggest you prioritize your health issues first. When you are healthy, you can consider a consultation for cosmetic treatments. I hope this helps you.
I have malar bags and I had restylane lyft injections on the bone. It looked natural and I was happy with my results. Then after a few days, the midcheek crease started to reappear and now the malar bags look even worse. Why did this happen? Thank you.
Hi Jenna Wellein, Sorry to hear about your problem. Without knowing details of your surgery, I can only speculate. Usually when filler is placed at the bone level, it is held in place by the muscle layer. The filler may not have been placed at the bone level, but rather the soft tissue space where it's normally placed, and possibly migrated. Reactive swelling also creates temporary volume, which may have been lost as swelling resolved. Doctors trained in the Y Lift method, or what we call Structural Volumizing, put filler at the bone level where it is more stable, so perhaps you can look into this technique for future treatment. I hope this clarifies things for you.
