@@HemiJoel Yep, and how many years and how much investment was needed?
Those guys made that cart from scrap in few hours.
I assume that you do not understand the power of capital and good administration.
You need both to have a good infrastructure.
An by the way of pipes. I remember some initiative of some westerners to help some african villagers.
They ”invented” a selftransporting barrel. Actually a barrel with ballbearings at ends, that was dragged by dragging it.
better than transporting the water on the heads as villagers did.
But the method was stupid and wasteful. Barrels needed to be thicker to resist on road, and hence expensive.
And even more expensive because they overcharged, funds being raised through donations.
All that plastic could be used simpler as a pipe, resist much longer. And even pumping by hand, would have used a lot less human energy.
But that thing looked like a scam. An cheap and efficient system could not bring asa much funds to the scammers.

My point being that man's wife is willing to do life threatening stuff for him and she sees it as nothing more than doing her part as does he. Western women think they're Disney princesses that are being enslaved if you ask them to help by doing their part. Enjoy your little fantasy world tho and call me sexist. Give them another 70 years and all of that stuff will be illegal. I am 81 and I remember when I was young we kids would be pulled behind the truck on roller skates, wagons, or sleds in the winter when the roads were covered in snow. We would also ride in the back of pickup trucks. Nobody worried about the kid crushing their skull, people had large families and they figured they could always have a replacement kid in 9 months.

I never knew those things are done in South-East Asia. In my country railroads are fenced and it is impossible to access them just by stepping in, except if you climb the electric fence (or whatever). The Hitchhiking "trailer" has a braking system which I doubt is effective when the truck driver does an emergency stop and the riders have to deal with inertia when the tanks are full of water.
