*So amazingly quiet and **Fastly.Cool** in my room! 42db is at a whisper level. I bought 2 and installed myself.Very sturdy bracket and easy to adjust to fit windows of different size. Absolutely fabulous units!!*

The design makes this AC a possible alternative to ductless DYI systems. It works great. The remote control could be more visual aid oriented like a backligh design. Is impossible to see the lcd at least for me. Easy install th-cam.com/users/postUgkx_hHgTlzH3uk31Fe2RVS3xEbXHGaN_z5Tation. Came on time . Great comfort around the house 5 🌟 again. Follow mfg instructions for care and all and this should be the only AC you need for those of is that don't live in new homes with central AC

I know this is a 7-year-old video, but this just saved me from a $90+ service call that was 5 days away. The vents were blowing out "luke-warm" air, and all it took was pushing the fans in the condenser and the air is back to normal! Not sure why it randomly happened now since it's the beginning of July, but regardless I'm grateful that a free TH-cam video was all the help I needed!

You. Are. AWESOME! Your concise and easy to follow troubleshooting steps made diagnosing our problem really simple! It ended up being our capacitor that went bad. It only cost $12 for a new one! Soooooooo glad we didn't have to pay someone hundreds to replace that for us.

I learned more here than in 25 years of asking questions to HVAC techs who have come to my house. So great to see a person who talks honestly and tries to help others, especially during these times. Many thanks. I would hire you in a skinny minute if you lived in my area. Bravo sir.

Woke up at 3AM on a Sunday with the A/C out. After getting over the initial shock and drying off from a pool of sweat (gross!) I stumbled across this video. BEST VIDEO EVER! Took me step by step on diagnosing the problem. Couldn't believe it was the capacitor (flex capacitor, lol). Got it fixed the next day and cooled the house down. Saved hundreds of moolah. Thanks bro. This was really cool (no pun intended - well maybe a little).

Several days ago only hot air would come out. I called out an HVAC guy and paid $320.00 to get my AC fixed. Then a couple of days later my second unit did the same thing. Now I'm thinking, "Did this guy sabotage my second unit?" I know, what a thought. But for both units to go out within days of one another?
Anyway, this time I went to You Tube University. I watched your video and a few others and was pointed toward the capacitor. I followed your instructions, and now $28.00 later and the time and gas it took to pick up the part, my AC unit blowing out cold air again!
I'm not mad at professionals who make a living off of customers without the knowledge or time to DIY. But I am immensely grateful for people like you who graciously, and so competently, make knowledge available so people with the time and inclination to DIY can do so.
    $320.00 vs $28.00
    Incredible!!!

Thanks SO much for the video. My wife and I just bought our first home, and never dealt with AC units before. Turns out our fan was stuck. Used a knife sharpening rod from our kitchen set to get it going (night time so didnt want to go look for a stick), gave it a good push and now its running (scared the hell out of me when the blades started turning and hitting the sharpening rod - lol). Thanks for the help!!!!

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! You saved me so much time and trouble. My air was still running, but stopped blowing cool air. After checking the temp of the 2 tubes going into the furnace, I checked the outside unit and found the landscapers had severed the thermostat wire. I simply had to strip the 2 wire ends, and re-attach, and it worked. Thank you for the great video!

Your walkthrough was one of the best explanation for troubleshooting. If it’s a wiring disconnect with the Rama stat and ac unit what’s the process to fix it? With Covid we really don’t want people in the house, other than the basement

  • @jacikocher7834

My fan was stuck! Thank you so much!
My ac has been working intermittently, and of course when the repair guy came out, I left work to meet him and walked in and it was a brisk 70 degrees in here.... so I couldn’t prove my issue. he checked all fluids, they were great, and tried to tell me it had to be the air filter (which I replace every two months with high micron filter for my allergies), yet it wasn’t barely a month old, and it wasn’t dirty.
I knew it had to be something simple that I was over looking. Thank you for your informative, yet to the point video.
I now know everything to check next time something goes wrong!

I watched this video from start to finish and it helped me a great deal!
We had recently moved into a new home and was wondering what we got ourselves into with respect to the HVAC system we inherited. We thought maybe the insulation in the attic is THAT bad that the 2nd floor felt like a sauna on a summer night, or that we were doing something ridiculously stupid like not knowing where the "on" switch is to help the adjustments we were making on the thermostat actually happen.
I went through the checks he had described from the basement inside the home to outside. I went almost all the way through his examples of things that could be going wrong. I soon discovered that my problem was that sometime before we had moved in, an animal had chewed through electrical wire running from the outside unit into the home. It was an easy replacement of a short portion of wire that resulted in my system running as it should!
I am thankful to have watched this video and appreciate the help buddy!

This is one of the best videos I've seen on Utube. Very useful info. It saved me an expensive service call - which helps a lot when you are living on a fixed income. My problem turned out to be the condensor motor was seized. I gave it a good push, and viola - it turned on and is now cooling down my house.

Wanted to say thanks for the video. It was short and to the point. Our A/C stopped blowing cold air---on the evening before supposedly the hottest day so far this year---and I was able to diagnose it down to a bad run/start capacitor with help from your video.
Hopefully I can source a replacement locally tomorrow.

    • @JoshTolbertUrbana
      @JoshTolbertUrbana 9 ปีที่แล้ว

*****, yes sir, that was done before I removed wires. I just took a pic of the leads and wrote down a few notes. Bench-tested the cap for capacitance and it's completely dead.
If you want to see what it looks like: www.puresimplicity.net/~hemi/Pics/Misc/condenser-capacitor-20150718/.
I will not be able to source a cap this weekend. None of the supply houses in town will sell me one since I'm not licensed, and the rest are closed for the weekend. I'll pick one up Monday, with a friend that can buy from one of the local wholesalers.
Unfortunately, the spade terminal receptacles on the wires look pretty corroded...So I'm going to replace them too. Right now I've only got cheaper ones that don't support the cable insulation at all, so hopefully when I pick up a cap on Monday I can pick up better crimp-on spade receptacles as well.
It is now hotter than hell in our place. It's not too bad to me, but our cats are not liking the temps one bit.

thanks on the response. i called a tech and he ended up putting two pounds of freon and since i helped with the tear down and assembly cause i wanted to learn, he only charged me $112. I thought it was fair. It was hot and we had an abnormal sight of an infestation of killer mosquitos in the area. So, between the mosquito bites, and our sweat I think we did ok. We couldn't find the leak though? He said that it might be too small to see. I asked him if there was a color die but he said that my unit is too new and would not work well with anything but the right freon? I am not sure on that explanation but I was happy that I had A/C. Thanks for your info, it helped a great deal. GE.

Nice trick doing the jumper wire. I usually just tap the contactor with something plastic. But the issue you said at the end.. its not a capacitor for home systems? Its funny cause I work on commercial systems the most and well (even though I am still a rookie I am learning from licensed masters at my job and plan on going to school soon). Now if the fan is blowing cool. And tstat of course is in auto and working usually its a wire issue. Bad relay or a cap. I find bad relays but tapping the contactor to see if the compressor jumps.

Hi Jon, I would run through the video here and let me know and post the results here, then we can go to the next step, I've only included the simplest most common problems here but there are additional troubleshooting steps to hone in on the problem your having.

I looked at your video and I've completed the checklist. At first I thought it was just low on freon being that it's 4 years old and never been serviced ( i was wrong when i said it was 5 years old). Come to find out my fan is not coming on so i have another issue on top of lack of freon. I gave it a spin and found it's not seized. My filters get changed out every month religiously and my outside unit coils are exceptionally clean. I getting current to the unit so at this point I'm thinking it's between the contactor and run capacitor. Any advise? Question....can i test these two parts without removing them? by the way, my problem is that i get warm air instead of cold. Thanks

Jon Declemente sorry about the late reply, were very busy filming other projects for other channels, if the fans not running then 7 times out of 10 its the capacitor, if the contactor looks in good shape and the armature is energized (pulled down), its probably the cap, also if the motors kind of warm its the cap, if you have a voltage meter that will help, we will be making a tier 2 video taking off where this one left off soon but not yet, sorry, i will check back soon to see if you responded, thanks for posting!

ok if i turn my furnace on and push the temp up. the furnace heats to that temp then turns off. I have noticed with my AC for a few years is that when I push the temp down, the AC will come on for maybe a 1/2 an hour or more with nice cold air and then the cold air drops back and the air coming out is sort of cool. The cold air will come back again after awhile. Will never cool to the temp set. I cleaned the condenser coils last year and cleaned out a lot of potting soil from inside of leaves that have decomposed. Still did not help . I have a Bryant I believe it is around a 2 ton unit , about 15 yrs old uses R410a . should the AC stream cold air out continually. When I cleaned the AC I noticed a sensor hanging down not sure from where. Thinking it is a heat sensor for the condenser. so I wire tied it to the wiring harness that goes to the condensor about 6 inches from the condenser.

Hey, great video. I followed your steps. I am getting the hissing sound but the other line is not cold at all. Unit comes on fine outside fan blowing well. I did change the compactor also. Could this be a contactor issue? Air is coming out of vents but not cool.

It seems like I have the same issue as yours. Mine was that the copper hose was not warm. Air comes out but it is not as cold as it is supposed to be. Did you end up fixing your AC? If so can you tell me what your issue was? Thanks

Hello. Can you tell me what kind of clay should I put on the evaporator coil ??

It would be great if you could include the capacitor. I was able to get my fan to run by pushing it but the compressor still would not start. I took out the capacitor and tested it with a ohm meter and it was totally dead.
This is still a great video and was the main one that i used to fix my A/C. Thanks!
