    First video on the topic that simply explains the evolution of the network from the bottom up. Good job.

    This is the best explanation. What a great teacher. It would be valuable if similar series if you can share for 5G.

    I havn't gone through many lectures on LTE but whatever I watched this is the simplest and informative one. Thank you so much for such a good lecture. Requesting to make videos on PCI planning, LTE Channels & Signalling.

    Why we need hide the moving from the PGW and HSS, and introduce SGW and MME?

    • @IrfanAli-nz7mb
      @IrfanAli-nz7mb  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Huang. Lets take the PGW first. Typically the PGW is located in the data center of the operator and typically in the city where the operator has a connection to the internet (internet exchange point). This may not be in the same city where the eNBs are located. So if there is no SGW, at each inter-eNB Handover signaling will need to be sent all the way to the PGW. By having an SGW in the city where the eNBs are located, reduces the signaling path. In roaming scenario, with home-routed traffic (PGW in the home county, eNBs in the visited countries), the need for SGW is even more important. For HSS, all authentication occurs by the MME itself. eNBs never communicate directly with HSS. All subscriber authentication is performed by MME (eNB is not aware of any subscribe authentication). Hope this helps.

      Hi Hemin, I hope to get to the PCRF in the QoS part of the lecture. I agree PCRF is important for VoLTE.

    Thank you very much for uploading this video. If the UE do intra HO ,Is there signalling between MME and eNodeB ? or eNodeB can handle this by itself without the help of MME.

    • @IrfanAli-nz7mb
      @IrfanAli-nz7mb  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Arun. For an intra-eNB handover (i.e between two cells (sectors) of the same eNB), there is typically no signaling with the MME. If location services (information about the cell ID where the UE is location) has been turned on for the UE, the eNB may cell ID (ECGI) to the MME. But the eNB does not need to interact with MME to execute the handover.
