Subba is wrong terminology, it was a head title given by prithvi narayan shah or gorkha rulers after limbuwan or pallo kirat came under their realm. It’s also a job rank in nepal government office still in use. Sikkim being independent nation till 1975, I don’t how did subba title made it to Sikkim, cause gorkha rulers never fully took over sikkim. Gorkha kingdom held only some part of Sikkim like Darjeeling and for few years only till Anglo gorkha war. Limbu in nepal has almost stopped using subba as surname.
