- this is a head canon where kunikida had a student who commit suicide and after meeting dazai, he realizes how similar they are, not just by their suicidal thoughts.
also if ur confused as to why san’ichiro was giving away stuff its because a common sign of a suicide attempt about to take place is the victim giving away their personal items, since they wont be alive to make any use of them.
also again, dont mind those characters who literally look liek soukoku love children at the start if you point it out instead of the actual details i put in the video i will cry 😭😭😭

I love how at 0:37 Kunikida-san is embracing the kid, understanding what's happening and what occurred yet not doing anything since he was merely a student teacher(I believe). Despite this being a headcanon, I believe this could be considered 'canon' since we all know that Kunikida-san might just have a backstory like this-if not, perhaps close to it.
Anyways, I love how detailed it is from beginning to end-with the video progressively going dull, to sad, to something we ALL know what'll happen, and then going to the end with Kunikida-san trying to be there for Dazai-san since he reminds him of the kid. Love it a lot ‼️
I am still waiting for Asagiri-sensei to give us the Kunikida-san backstory we deserve 😔😔
ALSO at 0:49, I believe the sentence "I'm not going back" indicates that he wouldn't go back to being as careless, or let someone die similarly in that way. He feels as if another part of him would "die" if he won't able to save Dazai-san from that kind of mentality- like the kid he taught. Or just AT LEAST tries to prevent anything foolish that would cause Dazai-san's life.
@@ShukonYeah Kunikida needs a backstory. Since Kunikida used to be a teacher. I kinda wonder what the kids he used to teach think about seeing their teacher like this. Like how’d he go from teacher to an agency member who saves people. Like it’s such a big leap.
For my hc of this video, Kunikida 100% knows that something is wrong w/ Dazai or knows that Dazai didn’t have the best childhood.
I mean if you meant someone who constantly tried to commit death would you really think they’re childhood was anything more than traumatic?

Omg, I love this so much, I wish this was real, it would explain why he's always so desperate to try to keep kids alive. Plus, in the light novel, it's shown how Kunikida and the rest of the ADA actually care about Dazai and his suicidal tendencies, this being real would be really sad tho, and I don;t want to be more depressed than I already am, but then again...

Istg everyone in Bsd has a traumatic backstory, I would not be surprised (would be happy, infact) if this was close to Kunikida's canonical backstory- besides him being a maths teacher. Asagari loves giving characters trauma, it's traumain' time

At 0:30 when it’s shown giving away his personal belongings, Not many people realize that can be a sign somebody can be suicidal. It’s not always the case, But sometimes people who already have a plan in motion give away things that where precious to them. And giving up things like hobbies since they won’t be alive in the first place. That little detail made this headcannon even better.

I love how even though he accepts and moves on, he still holds bitter moments from it. From how he frowns looking at dazai and how he probably still somewhat wished he couldve done something with how obvious and concerning the situation was for the boy (From the grave sequence). But I like how instead of feeling guilty getting reminded of the boy, he treats him how he wished he shouldve done in the past. Hes still upset obviously, but hes compensating for it

UGHHHHHH I LOVE THIS SO MUCH I CAN'T EXPRESS MY LOVE FOR YOU AND YOUR CONTENT I KNOW I PROBABLY SHOULDVE COMMENTED 2 MONTHS AGO WHEN I FIRST WATCHED IT BUT I COULD NEVER FIND THE RIGHT WORDS SO IM HERE NOW TO SAY WHAT I WANT TO SAY
I love how much thought you put into this, from the behaviour of the student that has signs of abuse to how he gave his things away. The way Kunikida was worried about him was really heart-warming and it made Kunikida feel guilt for never taking any action to help his student. I think this really portrays Kunikida extremely well as it is a canon trait of his to always want to protect, and not let anybody die under his watch. An example of this in the anime is when Fyodor set up the trap that the agency waltzed right into, and (spoilers for anyone that has not watched season 4 of bsd) where the girl was wearing bombs. Kunikida tried to protect her and save her, but did not prevail. You could really hear his pain when he screamed after witnessing this young innocent girl die in front of his eyes. After taking all this into consideration, your characterisation of Kunikida paying respects to the boy after death and standing there looking at his corpse was really immaculate.
The way the signs of abuse and suicidal tendencies were characterised in the student was also considered very carefully. As I said in my first sentence, I really loved him giving away his valuables. Not many people take this into consideration and you did a splendid job in terms of the portrayal of suicide and symptoms(?) of abuse compared to other creators I have seen. The way he said his final goodbyes to Kunikida really went somewhere deep inside my heart. I have more to say about this particular topic but I have exams next week and I need to make this short.
Moving on to my favourite part, the way the boy parallels to Dazai in so many ways and how Kunikida sees the boy in Dazai. I think this has a deeper meaning, whether you did this deliberately or not (which I personally think was very smart either way), it really symbolises how even though the agency takes Dazai's suicidal tendencies as a joke, deep down they (or at least Kunikida) cares and is worried for his mental health. Remember how Kunikida does not wish for anyone to die under his watch? In my opinion even though he acts like he doesn't care, he's always watching out for Dazai. Though, that is only my headcanon.
I'm so sorry for how long this is, but I've been thinking about writing this comment since this video came out. I really love all your videos and how thought out they are. Needless to say, you are definitely my favourite bsd creator. Also, take care of your mental health, its no big deal to go on break, and we won't get impatient or mad at you for however long you go on hiatus. Just remember that your health is first, not us!
