    Entertaining video and very helpful.
Thanks so much for doing this.
Loved your disclaimer about hitting the batteries and having some drinks

    I applaud your persistence, sir.
When I find some time to kill, I’ll give it a try.
I was not able to find the link to the battery pack.
Thank you for a great video.

I watched this all the way through. It was riveting, I couldn't look away. So many twists and turns, and - spoiler alert - a happy ending. 10/10 would learn to fix some random piece of junk from you again, Ward.

Thanks for this video my rabbit battery died as well . I’m going to try to attempt to replace the battery. You would think that rabbit manufacture would design a easier way to replace the battery, but I get it that they way for you to keep buying new rabbits from the company Thanks once again 😅

I have the same exact wine opener. I'll order individual batteries to avoid the heating and bending. Thanks for the video. Cheers to you Sir.

Thanks WardCo--you the man! I watched it 3 times since I searched online for help and was certain I would not find anything but instead found your detailed fix. I have a different model with no switches or labels. I got it from Macy's for $150 or so and had read online the charging socket tends to break inside. Despite my caution, the misses managed to break the socket after a year of heavy daily use. Your video gave me the impetus to give a repair a try, My screws were under a felt ring on the bottom and once removed the entire assembly slid out--so no splitting cases. I was sure you were going to break off some plastic tab--but you didn't and instead investigated further as I would and did. The mini USB socket is indeed poorly designed and soldered by a wimpy robot (or worse) so it had torn off the circuit board. The batteries are tired after 2 years of service so I plan to install a new set and after re-soldering the usb or adapting an external cord and socket to avoid the continued stress to the circuit board. I was amazed you have the same wire strippers, diagonal cutters, scissors, and screwdriver set as I have--and you are just as detailed and determined as I. For $150 I am not tossing it!!! I really appreciate your effort to make the video for everybody. The Rabbit is a great opener and I love showing it off when it works. Well worth the time and effort to stick in a fresh set of batteries for those with "the Knack". Rabbit could have made the batteries easily replaceable under a removable cover but they don't. Maybe that is your next project--making an access door with a socket for 3-AAA rechargeable batteries. Keep me posted! Tom

Wow. 10 minutes in and think I will toss RabbitWine bottle opener. Too bad they don't make the battery replaceable. Will not be buying another one.

Thanks for the video. I have a similar Rabbit, the "Electra". I cannot even see how to get into it: no visible screws. These things are obviously not meant to be repaired or have the batteries replaced, so I'll pass. One year warranty and this one lasted 3 years before it stopped taking a charge. Good enough, I suppose, but I'd buy a new one (another brand with better ratings) before I'd go through what you did in the video. Cheers!

Using an electric wine opener while naked is very dangerous. The stories I could tell…

My battery on this model is fine, but the corkscrew itself is missing! Some guest(s) perhaps broke it! Or ??? The plastic part that’s left doesn’t have an opening for the corkscrew...whereas yours appears to be attached way inside the machinery. Any thoughts? Hate to just toss it!

I was expecting a continuity tester after the bending to make sure the connecting spans were really still connected

I actually checked the voltage off camera before I started soldering, but, yeah, I got lucky -- and I am still worried that the links are under pressure now and might break in the future. I would absolutely change them to wire if I were to do it again. I'd expect it would also make bending the pack much easier.

Mine has rechargible batteries thus doesn't need to disassemble it.
