  • Toyota finally redesigned the Tundra for the 2022 model year, but is it as good as the 2022 RAM 1500? That’s the question I’m going to answer in this VS video. See my full review on the 2022 Toyota Tundra 1794 here: • 2022 Toyota Tundra 179...
    The vehicles used in this test include the 2022 Toyota Tundra 1794 4x4 CrewCab with the 6.5 ft. Bed and it stickers for $66,000. The 2022 RAM 1500 is a Laramie 4x4 CrewCab with a 5 ft. 7 in. Bed. Let me know in the comment section which truck you would pick and why.

    As a Toyota tech, I would’ve bought an older tundra in a heart beat if they weren’t just as expensive as new. I don’t like the new tundra. In my opinion the old one just rode better. So I spent my money on a 2022 ram 1500 tradesman. All I cared about was having a simple v8 with 4wd. I wanted less technology and the tradesman ticked that box.

    I've driven Tundra's since 2000, but the new one is a complete disaster. Bigger turning radius, smaller fuel tank, less leg room front and rear, questionable build quality, the issues go on and on. By every measure except perhaps acceleration, worse than my current 2016. Look in the video at how bad the touchscreen is vibrating! It shakes constantly. Looks like I'll be going back to Detroit for my next truck. Toyota has lost the plot.

I'm leaning towards a Ram, because I feel the Ford/Chevy full-size trucks are going for a high premium right now due to the brand name. Yea as an all rounder Ram is still my favorite but there is the new Refreshed Silverado and GMC Sierra so of it is possible you may want to test drive those 2 as well. As a big guy, tall and wide, I find the Ram more comfortable than the Toyota and Chevy beats the both in that particular area. My knees touch the dash in the Ram, and the gas pedal is in an awkward position for boots but the B-pillar is the least intrusive of the three makes. The Toyota feels a bit snug all around despite slightly better legroom. The Chevy has seats that go a bit farther back than the other two and feels like I get in and drop back rather than just slide in as with the Ram. But that does translate to just a little more room for a big driver. The fact that that the Toyota doesn't have a V8, drops them from my consideration. You take care of a hemi or ecotec and it should last 200,000+. Toyota is well known for reliable motors but a 3.5 L putting out numbers like that is going to be running considerable boost, and I would be really concerned about how long its internals stand up to that extra stress.

      Nah it’s the rear end that looks like Kim Kardashian backing up her massive botched plastic mess. Hate the taillight design and how the rear bumper doesn’t fully wrap around the rear edges. Idk what made Toyota go with that design choice. Makes the rest of the bed past the rear wheels look way too long and like it’s hanging by a thread. Everything else looks good tho

    There were no tundras in my area available to buy so therefore I never did get a chance to test drive it and I’ve been driving Toyotas for the better part of 20 years at this point. I wanted a truck as I have never had one so I went down to the ram dealer in April 2022 And bought a new black Laramie with the sport package and regular Hemi. Everything this reviewer says about the ram is spot on. I am still shocked at how refined it is and how easy it is to drive. I really doubt there is any better riding truck on the planet. It rides like an elevated Mercedes Benz. The interior quality is beautiful it’s quiet. The motor delivers effortless smooth quiet power. If you are easy on the gas pedal you can achieve between 18 and 21 mpg. Like I said in the beginning I never did get a chance with the new tundra but I can’t imagine it being nicer than this truck

      Hi Patrick. Toyota just makes better products than most, you can’t beat the quality. Yet, the Ram is good quality. Here’s the big difference, the Ram looks and drives so good, you can transport wood and feel just as luxurious going on a date in it. The Tundra is boring looking

    Thanks for the video. I can't decide between a 22' Ram Laramie night edition, or a 2023 tundra 1794 Trd Pro package. Your comments about the bumpy ride in the back I am hoping will be a non-issue with the trd pro package. The new tundra look is slowly growing on me as well, especially on trucks where the chrome mustache is removed. The rams look great, but the initial fresh look of the 5th gen is starting to dull after a few years of being out now. One small issue not covered all that much in your video that is making me lean more towards the ram is the back seats additional 4" of space of the tundra, which is plus when your kids legs aren't constantly kicking your seat.

      @MeynMotorGroup  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve heard from a 2022 SR5 owner with TRD Off Road Pack & 18” Rims (The Exact Model I Recommended) Still rides a tad bit better but still a huge upgrade over this non TRD air ride Tundra I’m sure. I wish I could try one personally to confirm but I think you might be ok I know the 1794 would come with 20s but still it’s the air ride I think making this Tundra ride firm.
      My apologies I think I mentioned the lack of rear legroom in my actual review of the Tundra and not here in the comparison. Another thing to watch out for is the headroom of the Tundra in the back when you get the pano sunroof.
      I saw on the Leasehackr forum some good discounts on the RAM since it has been out for a while like upwards of 16% off MSRP. I think a guy named Jim in PA offers some of the best Toyota deals on the Leasehackr forum something to look into.

I tested the tundra capstone, Denali ultimate, 22 ‘f150 limited, and the Rimac. The Ram murdered them luxury wise. The leather in the capstone and the screen in the tundra (aside from its centering/location ((kind of stupid))) was the best but every other object and surface to touch (in the ram) just absolutely blown them away. Once, while driving from the Iron range to the Twin Cities in Minnesota, and again while on a road trip in the black hills. My limited had the air suspension, allowing for it to go into "Aero" mode. Perhaps that contributed to the improved MPG. City driving was as you described, yet your comment about only getting 20s highway isn't accurate.
