2:30 This was despairing when I first watched it. But upon rewatch I felt something weirdly satisfying about it, then I realized that this is an extremely rare circumstance in anime where a character actually reacts in time to prevent someone else from suddenly sabotaging whatever he's doing. All these other times we fans have to make up excuses like "the animation dragged it out, it really happened in a split of a second". King Piccolo really did the unthinkable lol.
Technically, not 100% untrue. To pad out time an anime does tend to drag things out to not catch up to the manga. That includes certain scenes that are suppose to happen instantly. I agree though it’s refreshing to see it happen in the proper context.
Just imagine how it must have been at the first run when you have never watched Z. Killing Shenron would mean Roshi, Kuririn, Chaozu and all of Tambourines victims would stay dead forever. This arc had very high stakes for Dragonball like it never had later on 😅
Remember on abridged when Krillin blurted out "I was once in love with a little indian boy I thought was a girl"? It was Upa that he was talking about.
Her reaction when Piccolo killed Shenron, the transition from smug confidence that it was not going to work to utterly flabbergasted when it actually killed Shenron was epically hilarious. lmao
You know what's wild is how in the episode before this one, Roshi dies after using the evil containment wave which is a wave that's supposed to be used by the user to attempt to contain evil, but instead it ends up seeming evil itself because the users thereof tend to die right after usage of it. So, it's name "EVIL Containment Wave" seems like it might be a play on words, especially considering that it seems just as deadly as whatever or whomever on which one is using it. But what's more crazy, Roshi dying in the last episode by his own attack or Shenron being demolished by Piccolo in this one?
TFS Shenron in Lord Slug; "You wish to return to the prime of your youth? Your wish shall be... wait a second, hold on! Something about this seems very familiar?!"
Also animelon, launch did appear in dbz, just not as much compare to the other characters as she was up to her usual tactics while chasing tien, the other scene show her being drunk in a bar after learning that tien died during the saiyan conflict, she appears briefly in the kid buu arc offering her energy to goku and return in son goku and friends return
"Pilaf your turn!' XD If Piccolo Daimao tried to kill Pilaf for interfering the blast would just knock him into the next county and leave him with scrapes and bruises. The Pilaf Gang's Comedic-Armor is the most overpowered thing in the franchise. "He took out Shenron?!...Shenron?..." and that is why Piccolo Daimao is the best villain this franchise ever had. Actually used his damn brain XD
This is clearly why I always say King Piccolo was probably one of the best villains in the series he literally got rid of his biggest weakness which was his frailty, and then also killed shenron, to prevent somebody gathering the dragon balls to oppose him
I’ve been looking forward to your reaction to this one. I was so shocked when King Piccolo killed Shenron. I didn’t think that was possible, especially this early on.
Fun facts about Shenron: this is the only thing Shenron is killed by a villain. In Z Piccolo fuses with Kami because Kami created the dragonballs with out him they became stones again. That's why they brought Dende to be the new Kami. In GT its explained that too many wishes corrupted the dragonballs. Hence the 7 shenrons. At the end shenron and Goku leave together presumably no more Dragonballs.
This really was a transitional episode. The sillier villains are phased out and more serious threats would take over for the rest of the series. Speaking of, this would be the last time we see the Pilaf gang until GT and later Battle of Gods.
This had to be terrifying for kids who watched Dragon Ball before watching Z when King Piccolo killed Shenron, thinking there was no way to bring Krillin, Roshi or Chiaotzu back.
Its pretty funny to think about how Piccolo is able to destroy dragon actual makes the most sense since technically a part of also created them as well.
Seeing King Piccolo killing all these beloved and respected characters hit hard the first time I saw it. I think I was 12 or 13 that time. Full despair.
A lot of fighters were killed by tambourine, roshi died due to using the evil containment wave and king piccolo killed chaoztu without knowing he was one of the participants in the tournament and killed the dragon to prevent the balls from being active
Hi Melon This was a crazy episode First Demon King Piccolo take out Chiaotzu gets his wish granted and turned around and destroyed Shenron I didn't see it coming Rest in peace Akira Toriyama The creator of Dragon ball you will be missed 😢
I'm young! Time to murder the wish granting dragon!! Um... you'll be old again later. Have you heard about immortality, and maybe not killing the dude who can give it to you?
Until Kami is introduced, and their link together, that is a problem centuries if not millennia later. (And then we meet Kami and later their connection and how Piccolo can still die young in a century or two.)
I'm also upset they discarded Launch from the series, but at least she makes cameos! I happen to understand how Launch's falling out makes the series more relatable to real life-friends grow apart, and group dynamics change overtime. Also, you may make the connection as to why Launch no longer appears in the show when it happens. As a kid I didn't understand why, but as an adult it makes sense. Hopefully you can catch that when it happens, because not many people do!
Dang, i just know that toriyama is dead already. But atleast he already made his fave character (picolo jr) to be super (perhaps even ultra) namekian on the latest dragonball movie before he died tho.
Interestingly, they've never shown chaotzu failing to paralyze someone. He just... Stops doing it. It's likely a power scaling thing but if they ever wanted to make him relevant again it is on the table. But yeah, I'm honestly shocked they kept Pilaf and co alive there. I guess since they were always kind of gag villains it felt weird killing them off?
It seems to be an unspoken rule that Chiaotzu’s physic abilities don’t work on beings more powerful than him. He tried it on Nappa and apparently it had no effect. Which, is lame as it makes him mostly useless. I can understand a powerful opponent breaking out of Chiaotzu’s telekinesis through sheer force, but they should still struggle to do it thus buying time for the characters.
You should make an audition track and apply for voice actor jobs. But the recording needs to just be you switching back and forth between Puar voice and Shenron to exhibit your vocal range
In the new dragonball super with other universes, they should do a universe where yamcha can kick the ass of Goku at max power. It would be hilarious. Maybe Nappa could come back too.
First: Rest In Peace, Akira Toriyama.
Second: This is a dramatic turn of events in Dragon Ball. No one could have seen Shenron being destroyed.
King Piccolo is the only villain that got his wish and Killed the Dragon after he's a real Demon..... Also R.I.P to The GOAT Akira Toriyama 😢😢😢😢😢
Toyotaro is here
Toyataro is here

RIP Akira Toriyama. You made Anime what it is today and through your work will have affected Billions of lives.
Just imagine how it must have been at the first run when you have never watched Z.
Killing Shenron would mean Roshi, Kuririn, Chaozu and all of Tambourines victims would stay dead forever.
This arc had very high stakes for Dragonball like it never had later on 😅
And nobody thought this was even possible on to of that, a kolossal Gamechanger!
i think i legit cried when i was a kid watching this
Well I watched z before classic series but only freiza and cell saga
I remember seeing this episode and genuinely being shocked that the ETERNAL DRAGON was killed so easily.
YAMCHA: I'm just tired of doing nothing.
MELON: You'll get used to it.
LMAO savage.
And he just accepts it by giving up fighting in the end...😅
Yeah but to be fair he hasn't done anything since the first arc. I'm surprised he's not used to it by now.
Pilaf should be grateful piccolo let them live at all.
this is why shenron is so impatient in the future he wants to grant a wish and get back to safety lol
Rest in peace to the best creator of dragon Ball Akira toriyama you will be missed your legacy will live on in our hearts 😢
U forget toyataro my friend he was his freind
U forget toyotaro my friend
@Sketch99-y3r I'm sorry
@@kevinmiles1731 u know he given rest of his work to him
@Sketch99-y3r i know

3:56 - 4:55 I know, right? King Piccolo killing Shenron, was INSANE.
Launch was at the beginning and the end of DBZ.
4:43 Bit-ch came from the soul sister, bit-ch in deed
Her reaction when Piccolo killed Shenron, the transition from smug confidence that it was not going to work to utterly flabbergasted when it actually killed Shenron was epically hilarious. lmao

4:25 Puar Scream - Shenron!!! NOOOOO!!!! XD
TFS Shenron in Lord Slug;
"You wish to return to the prime of your youth? Your wish shall be... wait a second, hold on! Something about this seems very familiar?!"
Lol your face when Shenron got destroyed! That was a turning point. Piccolo was the most built up villain in terms of power before Frieza.
He's an opportunist just like Frieza, but Frieza is on a different level, literally.
RIP Toriyama
King Piccolo: _kills Shenron_
Me, impersonating John Mulaney: 😵💫 HE CAN DO THAT?!
I believe this is the first and only time that a villain kills Shenron in Dragon Ball. At least that I remember.
Rest in peace Akira Toriyama!
"Pilaf your turn!' XD If Piccolo Daimao tried to kill Pilaf for interfering the blast would just knock him into the next county and leave him with scrapes and bruises. The Pilaf Gang's Comedic-Armor is the most overpowered thing in the franchise.

4:30 I can't believe that Piccolo sent shenron to the shadow realm🤦♂️🤷♂️🤣🤣 W vid 💯
TFS
Piccolo: sorry my dad killed chiaotzu
Nail: Annnnnd you made it awkward
King Piccolo had a lot of balls for that.
Dragon balls 🟠🐉😂
I always wondered if Chiaotzu (or Tien for that matter) couldve telepathically made the wish to Shenron and just didnt think to do it.
Demon King Piccolo killing Shenron was legit one of most badass things in the entire series. Dude murdered the ETERNAL dragon...
Love how you laugh right before the disturbing shenlong death
R.I.P Akira Toriyama😢
If I remember right, this is the last we see of Pilaf and the gang, until Dragon Ball GT and Dragon Ball Super.
Watching the pilaf gang you can see the inspiration for team rocket
Anyone else notice that Melon kinda talks like Launch sometimes? Got that eastern accent hehe
It's too funny: the supreme ruler of the world, the unquestioned master of destruction, the king of the demons rides around in Pilaf"s plane 😂😂
King piccolo has won... World domination is his 😈🔥🔥🔥
That's two times he threw the world into chaos.
This is clearly why I always say King Piccolo was probably one of the best villains in the series he literally got rid of his biggest weakness which was his frailty, and then also killed shenron, to prevent somebody gathering the dragon balls to oppose him
ngl piccolo (both of them) as a villain is peak dragon ball (including z)
Love your reactions ❤

Speaking of, this would be the last time we see the Pilaf gang until GT and later Battle of Gods.
In the manga it would be the last time we see them but they appear in episodes 150/151 which were filler.
This had to be terrifying for kids who watched Dragon Ball before watching Z when King Piccolo killed Shenron, thinking there was no way to bring Krillin, Roshi or Chiaotzu back.
For the Japanese kids, sure, but Z aired before Dragonball here.
Never were the steaks this high 🍖 🥩
Its pretty funny to think about how Piccolo is able to destroy dragon actual makes the most sense since technically a part of also created them as well.
Seeing King Piccolo killing all these beloved and respected characters hit hard the first time I saw it. I think I was 12 or 13 that time. Full despair.
That should be obvious animelon, that was done to prevent any wish made and with the power king piccolo has, nobody can stop him
Rest in peace Akira Toriyama🙏 bbossst the algorithm
King Piccolo is the best villain in this whole series
Hey Trunks, want me to tell you about that time your girlfriend tried to end your mom?
A lot of fighters were killed by tambourine, roshi died due to using the evil containment wave and king piccolo killed chaoztu without knowing he was one of the participants in the tournament and killed the dragon to prevent the balls from being active
"Sorry my dad killed Chiaotzu"
4:01 Badass move from him
Shenron can't not make a wish beyond his power.
Have you seen Black Lagoon?
Yamcha´s biggest moment has yet to come yet, though very brief. Against Kami no less.
Hi Melon This was a crazy episode

I didn't see it coming

Prime King Piccolo in the Building!🔥

It would be fine if she made cameos every once in awhile. I’m shocked the Super anime didn’t use the opportunity to bring her back.
Tien punches rhe rock
Tien: he killed my master, why why why why why why
King piccolo drops pilaf and the gang since they're basically useless
Yep this shock me when I saw it
It shocked to my core
Awesome, magnificent and thank you.🇺🇲📺📺🇺🇲
Dang, i just know that toriyama is dead already.
But atleast he already made his fave character (picolo jr) to be super (perhaps even ultra) namekian on the latest dragonball movie before he died tho.
Pilaf would be killed if he made the wish
This man cooked Shenron.

That's just wishful thinking, I don't think chaoztu's powers would work on king piccolo even if he attempt
Lol so cute beginning haha 😅😂❤ hello hello hello thank you thank you thank you ❤
King piccolo reborn
Good episode
You should make an audition track and apply for voice actor jobs. But the recording needs to just be you switching back and forth between Puar voice and Shenron to exhibit your vocal range
Lord Slug returns!😅
Chiaotsu can't count and paralyze someone, expect too much from him.
What do you mean? He used paralysis technique multiple times against in the episode 99
Against Goku
In the new dragonball super with other universes, they should do a universe where yamcha can kick the ass of Goku at max power. It would be hilarious. Maybe Nappa could come back too.
you can try reading "I got reincarnated as yamcha" comic
😭😭
