Happy Thursday everyone! Tell me -- who takes the trophy for you in this video? Is it Italians 🇮🇹 or Frenchies 🇫🇷? Also what other countries do you wanna see battle it out next time?
Ohh hell yeah. That's what I wanted to tell you, Marina. Firstly, this video concept is extremely interesting, keep continuing this. Secondly, please whenever you choose countries for this video, try to choose countries that have (kind of a) rivalry with each other. England-France and France-Italy was exactly like that. So I would say continue like Turkey-Greece, Spain-Portugal, Portugal-Brazil, Spain-Mexico, Germany-Austria, Germany-Poland, Germany-France, Germany-England, Norway-Sweden, Sweden-Finland and etc. You got the point😄
As a vegetarian i prefer italian food, there are more options for me. What is really impressive about both countries is the artistic heritage. The amount of museums, churches, castles, palaces, old houses, monuments, ruins, paintings, sculptures is huge. No other country comes close culturally to Italy and France
As a Romanian, I would say France and Italy are the most romantic countries in Europe and in the world, possibly. I love how both languages sound , both have good food, good estethic feelings and both are passional and energic. There is no comparison
they are just funny because that’s how we are, on the other hand i think the french didn’t do justice to their country and seemed annoyed and angry all the time. The italians were funny, sarcastic just how we always are
I think it's the same everywhere...I've been treated very well in France, Paris included. But also in Italy (in Rome). I'm saying that as someone half French, half Italian even though I haven't travelled to that many places in Italy
I completely agree with you. I'm from Bergamo. I've travelled France and Italy. I have to say that French people are far more welcoming than the Italians.
@Aidar Sharafullin we never see it that way , we joke about our own language all the time and okay if our fucked accent. Only American and English people think that way
Also Italian aren’t Roman , most of them are descendants of German Lombard in the north or Greek/Arabic/French in the south and the Sardaign people are totally different from the rest. So no we took nothing from the Italian who Is a really brand new country
Why italians are always like that with french people ? OK pizza and pasta are cool and your food is incredible but don't tell that there is a lack of diversity in France, you don't know how many dishes, pastries, sweet, dessert, cheese, wine you can find in each regions. Even if I live in France since 28 years old I'm always amazed when I move to an other area, it's like being somewhere else, because everything is different except it's speak french: go to Bourgogne, then Alsace, Sud de la France, Rhône Alpes, la région de Bordeaux, Bretagne ect.. and you'll understand, but don't speak when you don't know.
100% agree. Both cuisines are fantastic and diversified and just because some Italians dont personally know or haven't explored french culinary diversity doesn't automatically make theirs more diversified. But then again, Italians generally tend to be very pompous with the French so I don't know what else you were expecting really.
@@actuallobster1775 French cuisine and products are not affordable in general...good fois gras and good champagne are expensive...the same for a good french restaurant, even here in France. I am not french by the way, and I love Italian cuisine, but french cuisine is very refined !

"I don't know anything about French food"...but I'll open my mouth and judge anyway...Sorry but this talk was a bit annoying; I get that it's a sort of competition, but to the Italian side here, if they may try and watch France vs Brits (that's not an easy one either, believe me) and how the pros and cons got approached and handled there on both sides, just saying. I've got origins and grew up / lived in both nations, in Italy and in France, btw.
What a stupid comparison… There’s less competition with Brits because they sucks in cuisine and fashion style. France and Italy are historic rivals in this, that’s why there’s more competition
That's exactly the point! Italian food is everywhere. The demand for it proves how Well respected it it and that in the end most people would chose it over French cuisine. Almost Nobody out of France knows any French food by name... It's rare to see a French Restaurant other than in some fancy hotel.

As an italian myself I find that over the last years we italians have become too pretentiuos and overly proud of our culture and life style. Maybe because we had for many years a sort of minority complex versus other big european countries like France, England, Germany, or versus more wealthy small northern countries like scandinavians. When we are in Italy we still make fun of ourselves, talking of how miserable people we are compared to every other country. But suddenlly when we go abroad we become very arrogant towords all the others, like “italians do it better” kind of things, and I hate that. In my region (Lombardy) we say “chi si loda si imbroda”, which means that If you praise yourself, in the end it will cause your demage (so always avoid praising yourself, no matter why)
I love France but as an artist and art history student Italy has my heart ❤️️ The food is flawless and all the Italians I know are so warm, and hospitable

If you think Italian food it's only pizza and pasta you should take a tour of the entire country. You would be amazed. Thanks to all the influences that different populations had over history on the territory you can find literally everything. For example in the north in a region called Sud Tirolo you have a version of the Austrian strudel, meanwhile in the south, in Trapani, the traditional dish is Cous Cous like it would be in an arab country. The quantity of cheese that we have is incredible: gorgonzola, parmigiano, taleggio, provolone, provola, fontina, stracchino, crescenza, robiola, grana padano, we are masters also in cured meat prosciutto, culatello, strolghino, mortadella just to name a few. Most importatly the unique geographical position of Italy (right in center of the mediterenean sea) guarantees a huge variety of fruits and vegetables and the majority of traditional italian recipies reflects very well this aboundance. With more than 7000 km of cost also the fishing culture is a big thing. We are the country of Alps, which are our entire north border and the entire country is crossed by another mountain chain less known but very important called Appennini. This means that in this areas you can find another kind of tradiscional recipies. A small curiosity: Italy is the only country in the entire world were you can find white trouffles for which people pays roughly 100€ per gram of it. And the sweets, I could open an entire chapter on all the cakes, pasties, gelato, granita, tiramisu....... I could continue for hours talking about all the amazing things that I ate in each city, and there are still pleanty I haven't tried yet, so my knowledge is still incomplete but now I have to stop cause I'm starting to feel hungry!
I agree with you. But France is exactly the same. We have Celtic influences in the west, Spanish influences in the south west, Italian influences in the the south east, German and Swiss influences in the east and Belgian influences in the north. I could give you a ridiculously long list of dishes, sweets, cheeses, cured meats, alcohols from France. Both countries are unbelievable to be honest. I'm saying that as a boy who grew up with a French dad and an Italian mum 😁
Actually, Couscous is pretty new in Sicily. It was brought by the sicilian fishermen living in Tunisia after they got expelled in the 20th century by the french. It's not a proper cultural dish. Still good, though
I'm sorry, but Italian food wins. Look around the world. Even in asia, everyone knows Italian food. No one knows what french food is in my asian hometown. Music: I think French is more world wide. Not sure though, I'm bias as a french speaking canadian.
Well, Italians got some classy dishes known worldwide however French Cuisine is the luxury itself, gastronomy itself has the strongest bonds with France, i mean depending the country each of them may be more or less known but in general France still on top…. And these are facts.
In terms of music, Italy wins. If you ever learn music, you will realize all the terminologies are in Italian (forte, piano, fortissimo, pianissimo, crescendo, diminuendo, allegro, ritardando, accelerando, tempo, arpeggio, vibrato, glissando, tremolo, stacatto, legato, marcato, soprano, mezzo-soprano, alto, contralto, tenore, baritono, basso, messa di voce, mezza voce, etc.). Italian is the language of music. Opera was born in Italy, and during the Baroque and Classical period, a lot of German, Austrian, and even French composers wrote their operas in Italian, because that was the prestigious language of music. Maybe during the Romantic period, they started writing more in their own language. In today's time, both Italian and French music are not doing so well globally, as the Anglo countries, Kpop, and Latin American music rule that market. But Germany has the largest music industry in Europe, and does the most to preserve classical music.

Coffee Culture: Italy Legit all the coffee terms today are Italian - espresso, latte, macchiato, mocha, while French got caffe au lait. Even specialty coffee competitions compete using the Italian coffee drinks, though adjusted to modern scientific standards for specialty coffee. Cuisine: Italy Italian food is simpler to make, less time-consuming, more beginner-friendly, hence more practical for home cooking. French can be very rustic, yet time-consuming with many steps, or very sophisticated and gourmet for fine-dining. Italian food generally uses fewer ingredients that emphasize more on quality of the product than the quantity. French food is heavily reliant on thick sauces that drown out the natural taste of their meats and veggies, and use a lot of butter to give creaminess and richness to their otherwise poor ingredients. French food is also not very vegan friendly, since it is quite heavy on dairy with all the butter and cheese. Italian food is also generally healthier and lighter, since it uses more unsaturated fats (olive oil), versus French, which uses a lot of saturated fats (butter) (Italians do live longer than French on average after all, though French seem to have longer living centenarians). In terms of cured meats, Italy wins. Cheese and wine, France has the slight edge. Pastry, hands down, France trumps Italy and any country. Ice cream, Italy wins (their gelato is on another level). Seafood produce, France wins since they got access to both cold water and warm water seafood. Italian food is more known and consumed worldwide, from pasta to pizza to cheeses to cured meats. Overall, I prefer a home-cooked meal by nonna than a Michelin star gourmet dish. Football Team: Italy Historically, Italy just has more record titles as a national team (won 4 World Cups + 2 Euro Cups, while France has 2 World Cups + 2 Euro Cups). Also, the football fans and culture are just more passionate in Italy. Friendliness & Hospitality: Italy Parisians give French people a bad name, but aside from that, the warmer overall weather of Italy allows people to be more outgoing and, hence, more opportune for social interactions. French people are also a bit more cautious about talking to strangers, smiling less, and tend to be more reserved, while Italians more open and willing to start a chat, play a game of cards, or cook you a meal in their house. They are also less politically correct and more forward about their feelings, while French people's political correctness makes them more reserved but considerate. Fashion Style: France Historically, Italian Renaissance was what made Paris into the fashion capital of the Western World, but Paris has held that title forever now. Italian fashion is about emphasizing the bella figura (though not lately with Gucci and Prada), and generally far more colors than French (look at Gucci, Prada, Versace, Cavalli, Dolce & Gabbana, etc). France is home to haute couture, the highest form of fashion expression. All the Italian fashion houses that do haute couture, have their shows presented in Paris Fashion Week, whether it is Valentino, Versace, Schiaparelli, instead of Milan fashion week, which focuses more on pret-et-porter (ready-to-wear). PFW overall attracts a more international audience, and attracts more media attention than any other fashion week. French fashion overall focuses more on classic and edgier looks that are more chic and timeless, hence why they use more monotone colors like black and white, over bright vivacious colors that can age to look tacky. Also, a lot of Italian fashion houses are owned by French luxury conglomerates like LVMH and Kering. Flirting & Approach: Tie Both their men use the same tactic of cheesy love compliments (oh your eyes are so beautiful, blah blah blah, ciao bella, mon amour, etc), though Italians tend to be a bit more aggressive and persistent, hence the term why gigolo and Casanova exist. Italian men, especially in the South, tend to be less politically correct, so this boundary of modern-day feminist respect isn't quite as prominent compared to France. I do find Italian men more macho, though also bigger mamma's boys, since lots of them still live with their parents, and their mammas and nonnas are a big part of their life. However, I prefer how Italian men are overall more upfront than French men, who can be more subtle and reserved. For women, French women tend to play harder to get. They smile less, act more ultra feminist independent woman that can scare off potential love interest, yet they contradict themselves a lot. Italian woman smile more, and are generally easier to start a conversation. Both French and Italian women seem to also love an assertive man who takes the lead in the relationship (not act submissive and indecisive af), and they definitely look to settle for more long term relationships than one-night stands that Northern Europeans seem to prefer. Music: Italy Italy is the birthplace of opera. If you learn music, you will know that almost all musical terminologies are in Italian. Be it tempo, arpeggio, crescendo, diminuendo, forte, fortissimo, piano, pianissimo, legato, marcato, stacatto, tenuto, soprano, mezzo-soprano, alto, contralto, tenore, baritono, basso, mesa di voce, mezza voce, allegro, opera, passagio, fioratura, glissando, coloratura, spinto, dramatico, lirico, etc. Also, scientifically speaking, Italian is a better language for singing, since most of its words end in vowels (open sounds), which places the pitch at a brighter and more supported vocal placement. French also has more vowel sounds than Italian, and a lot of those vowel sounds are inward. When you learn French opera, you also don't use the gutteral French R to sing, but instead the alveolar Italian trilled R, as it doesn't damage the vocal chords. Italy is also the country that innovated a lot today's instruments, like the piano, violin, viola, cello, double bass, etc. Sexiest Accent: Tie I find Italian to be more musical and theatrical great for expressing passion like anger, frustration, exaggerated emotions, etc. The language can sound like a machine-gun rapper at times, which I love. French is smoother as it is more slurred, and sounds much sexier on a woman, as Italian woman can sound like a nagging mom at times. French is better when whispered in an ASMR kinda way, while Italian is sexier on a deep-voiced man. Even Charles V said, "I speak Italian to women, French to men, Spanish to God, and German to my horse." Winner: Italy
What does it mean France has access in cold and warm water? It matters the number of variety of seafood. Italy has 7500 km of coast while France only 3000💀 (for the rest you’re right👍🏼)

@@ichbinhier355 well I understand what you're saying but it's not an argument. Without counting a vegetarian version of a dish (bœuf bourguignon with carotts instead, tartiflette without lardons, hachis parmentier with lentils...)
Ehmmm... nope. Italy doesn’t win only for pizza and pasta but also for his Mediterranean diet with a lot of variation of fruits and vegetables. And then exactly how they said in the video every region has his speciality, wherever you go in Italy the food it’s gonna be always different. It also be to mentioned that lot of dishes that French people use to eat a lot are actually Italians, like polenta, minestrone, fish fry, carpaccio, ossobuco, etc...

Italy wins?!!! You must be kidding me! They're just better at shouting their weak arguments, it doesn't make them right, except for the Coffee and hospitality (if you are a white tourist of course...).
My friend who works in the specialty coffee industry tells me that the best brewers of Arabica are actually Scandinavians and Australians. The Italians prefer a much darker roast that already destroys a lot of the natural flavor profiles of the coffee beans, plus lots of Italians like to drink their espresso with sugar, which completely drowns the natural flavor of the coffee. Italian coffee, like Greek and Turkish coffee, is more of a protected tradition, but by today's brewing standards, it is not on par to be called specialty coffee.
Apparently, didn't have the same meetings. I loved the well-mannered , polite, diplomatic French people I met, so respectful. I am not talking about meeting people in Paris. And the food. And the beauty.
The breakfast is the same but I would say French cuisine is more diverse in general. Going from Alsace to the Mediterranean and Normandy to the French Basque country you can find something amazing in every corner. These Italians mentioning only pizza, pasta, and mozzarella shows how generic it can be sometimes or even they don't know where in Italy to find something interesting. And about the fashion. Let's be honest, a country full of Gianluca Vacchis you cannot say the Italians are always very classy, perhaps grotesque, but not classy
As an Italian who has lived in France (Marseille and Paris) and visited quite a bit I would say that we are more or less even on the food: both countries have varied cousine (Italy maybe a bit more, because we have more variety of climate and environment; they mentioned more famous foods just to demonstrate that italian food is well known). Savoury wise France edges the meats, breads and cheeses, while Italy wins for fish (besides maybe mussles I have to say), street food and vegetarian dishes. As for sweets, I would give the win to Italy for the spoon-type and France for the baked goods (I am constantly craving croissants aux amandes when I am home). Fashion wise we have equally famous brands but French streetstyle is honestly better (even though "Parisian" style is just being a pretty blond in denim and a t-shirt honestly xD)
maybe you didn’t visit italy if you say italian food is not as varied…. you can literally go from town to town and find different specialities. The regional culture in italy is stronger than in France, in France (fortunately i would say) the country is more united while in Italy there still is a strong regional culture. Italy was unified only in the 19th century so each region still has its own use and customs and even its own language because each region has its own dialect who is completely different from standard italian language and these dialects are also different from each other, they are like languages on their own. For example some people only speak in their dialect and they can’t speak italian… if you go to Naples people speak neapolitan and if you are example from Rome you can’t understand the neapolitan at all and viceversa… the same thing goes with the culinary culture. France is a unified country from much more than italy
@@Mauri-jb9up I agree! Plus people forget about Overseas France and all of their cuisines too! Martinique, Guadeloupe, Réunion, Polynésie, New Caledonia, etc. France definitely wins for seafood!

Italians seem much more arrogant than the french...come on guys, you know nothing about la cuisine et la patisserie française : wines, cheeses, fois gras, pastries , etc !
French cuisine is much more sophisticated and varied, italian food is "every day food" and is always about pasta/pizza. Italians are way louder than french, thats why they claim to be the best but that's not true ;)

French cuisine is probably a little bit more diverse since we border so many countries at once. Italians are heavy flour users, probably a little more than France but when it comes to potatoes for example, France is king (with Spain)
@@francesca_415 Of course ! Italian food is really diverse, but I think France catches more diversity in its cuisine since of its location between mediterranean sea, atlantic sea, the Chanel and continental Europe plus the Alpes !

You are lucky to be from this two countries!
If it wasn't for Italian immigrants in USA.
Both countries have the best cuisine in Europe by far
@@lissandrafreljord7913 Yes you are right. I will also add that Spanish music from Spain and Latin America are now dominating the world of music and for a good reason. Spanish itself is beautiful language so I’m not surprised at all.
Just because it's more known internationally doesn't make it better.

Dont say that french food have lack of diversity when you are ignorant about it and when its actually one of the cuisine which is the most diverse thanks to the cultural richess of our differents regions.
Sorry but italian food is good and diverse too but cmon its overrated compare to indian, japanese, mexican or french food. The fact that french food is consider as the best in term of luxury fancy food thanks to our great restaurants and guide Michelin when italian food is consider as the best in term of home food, more afordable and thats not completly true cause you can eat really good french meal at home prepared by a french grand ma like in italy with french products from our countryside, a meal which takes time to make with a good sauce and not for expensive.
We have so many diverse and good meal like bœuf bourguignon (beef stwee cooked in wine), lapin à la moutarde (rabbit with mustard sauce), canard à l'orange (duck with orange), croque monsieur (grilled cheese ham sandwich), tartiflette (potatoes with cheese ognions and bacon in heaven).
In terme of wine were the best but respect for wine from Piémont, same for cheese but respect for italian cheese.
Anyway, for everymen the best food is the one of his own country so if you are italian or not and you think italian food is the best you right but dont say shit about french food and dont think italian is the best in any terms without knowing about indian, mexican, french or others type of food.

And you said Indian cuisine it’s better because it’s a mix of luxury and home food that as I said before is exactly the same for Italian. I may agree with you but it contradicts what you said😅
France 🇨🇵❤
French men have the best accent for me
Coffee Culture: Italy
Legit all the coffee terms today are Italian - espresso, latte, macchiato, mocha, while French got caffe au lait. Even specialty coffee competitions compete using the Italian coffee drinks, though adjusted to modern scientific standards for specialty coffee.
Cuisine: Italy
Italian food is simpler to make, less time-consuming, more beginner-friendly, hence more practical for home cooking.
Football Team: Italy
Historically, Italy just has more record titles as a national team (won 4 World Cups + 2 Euro Cups, while France has 2 World Cups + 2 Euro Cups). Also, the football fans and culture are just more passionate in Italy.
Friendliness & Hospitality: Italy
Parisians give French people a bad name, but aside from that, the warmer overall weather of Italy allows people to be more outgoing and, hence, more opportune for social interactions.
Fashion Style: France
Historically, Italian Renaissance was what made Paris into the fashion capital of the Western World, but Paris has held that title forever now.
Flirting & Approach: Tie
Both their men use the same tactic of cheesy love compliments (oh your eyes are so beautiful, blah blah blah, ciao bella, mon amour, etc), though Italians tend to be a bit more aggressive and persistent, hence the term why gigolo and Casanova exist.
Music: Italy
Italy is the birthplace of opera.
Sexiest Accent: Tie
I find Italian to be more musical and theatrical great for expressing passion like anger, frustration, exaggerated emotions, etc. Even Charles V said, "I speak Italian to women, French to men, Spanish to God, and German to my horse."
Winner: Italy
What does it mean France has access in cold and warm water? It matters the number of variety of seafood. Italy has 7500 km of coast while France only 3000💀 (for the rest you’re right👍🏼)
Based
for food it's a tie. Both are very amazing, but I can't let Italy with that. For friendliness italy has the edge, but France is also very good, especially in the north.
I freaking love Italians! They're definitely among the most hilarious people I've countered. Always energetic, lively, open minded and fun to be around. Though very proud of their culture they're also so keen about other cultures and their different cuisines. I've never felt not welcomed while in Milan. It's also fairly easy to befriend an Italian as it's so easy to talk to them. Definitely Italy for the win 🏆✌️

As a French American I’ll have to go with France. If we seem cold towards you it’s because we were raised differently by our parents compared to other families in Europe. 🇫🇷
Different how? and if your parents raised you in a certain way then it shouldn't be an excuse to be a nice person in general.
@@DS-qg9cd it’s literally a stereotype that all French people are rude 😅 or that we are cold… that’s what I’m getting at.

@@franknstein5376 sea food wise France is also more diverse as they have the Mediterranean and the Atlantic
maybe you didn’t visit italy if you say italian food is not as varied…. you can literally go from town to town and find different specialities.
