Hola! I just re-watched the video. I watched it on Saturday night (or was it Sunday), but it was too late to write anything, so I just took another look at it tonight. Spectacular views up there! Nice statue at 4:39. Interesting expression on his face. He seems very animated. I was wondering what that thing he's holding is - could be a gun or musket, but it looks like a plunger. 😆 Nah, couldn't be, I don't think they had indoor plumbing back then. Interesting how the building's foundation is integrated right into the rock. Very sturdy! I bet it hasn't sunk even a tiny fraction of an inch in all these years! Amazing that it's in such great condition after all these 100's of years. At 6:35 I noticed how skinny and steep the stairs are with such low railings. I think people were quite a bit shorter back then, so perhaps things were sized differently. The view at 13:33 is spectacular (but this might be a problem for people who have a fear of heights!). At 14:42, I couldn't help but say "omg, don't fall over that rail"! But at 21:00, I was absolutely dizzy! Wow, that's high up there without much of a railing! But what a view. At 15:03 there were some skinny stairs again. I shouldn't say it, but I think most Americans probably wouldn't fit up those stairs. 😄 If I lived in that castle, that little room at 18:06 would be my favorite place to have my afternoon coffee. Ah yes, sitting on that little bench looking out the window with that spectacular view, sipping a cup of java. 😄 It's good to be king! At 21:30 - that guy has the best view in the castle! Really, what a spectacular view. But the final shot of the bell and the bell tower - just the perfect ending. Amazing place, such incredible history. Very enjoyable video. Take care.
Hola! As you have seen, I was not deceiving you about the views 😄 I am glad that you also enjoyed those beautiful views. That sculpture in the courtyard of the castle represents Don Quixote, what he has in his hand is his spear, normally he is always represented with it, although your appreciation of a plunger is funny and could also be valid... after all, he was quite crazy 😄 The truth is that I was surprised to see a sculpture of Don Quixote there (almost the same surprise that he seems to have), I didn't know why they put that sculpture, I thought that maybe it was because this castle was mentioned in the novel but that was not the reason. After searching internet for the reason, I discovered that there is a theory that the creator of the novel, Miguel de Cervantes, could have been born near there (the official version is that he was born in Alcala de Henares). Curiously, there is a sculpture almost identical to this one in Alcala de Henares (both are by the same sculptor) and it can be seen on the tour that I filmed in that town. As you say, the castle looks very sturdy, I'm not surprised that it is preserved so well. Not only many Americans, I think many Spaniards would also have difficulties 😆 Although you are absolutely right, it is not the most suitable place for big people. As you say, people in the Middle Ages must have been shorter... and they had very small feet 😆 In most of the castles I've visited, the steps are always very narrow and I can barely fit my foot on them, that's why in this on occasion I had to film carefully since I had to pay attention where I was going and avoid falling or tripping over the small steps. The battlements and railings were also very low so it was not recommended to lean too far over them to look down. You're right, I don't know what use that small room you mention would have when it was built, but it seems like the ideal place to have a coffee in a relaxed way. I'm glad you liked that final shot, thank you! As soon as I saw it, I knew that I had to finish the tour with that shot of the two bell towers, it seems that they built that little bell tower specifically for me 😆 Thank you very much for your visit! Gracias!! 😉 Hope you had a good week! Out of curiosity, how is the weather in Boston now? I guess this year you will also enjoy summer on Cape Cod. You are very lucky 😄 See you! Take care
@@WalkingSpain Hola. The weather in Boston has been on the cool and frequently rainy side so far this spring, but the last few days it has warmed up and actually started to feel like summer. Today was in the low 80's F. I actually wore shorts for the first time this year yesterday. But the weather in Boston is always somewhat unpredictable. Yes, I am planning on spending part of the summer on Cape Cod again this year. With the nice weather we've had these past two days, it has made me look forward to it. The lease on my apartment ends in mid-July, so that's when I'm heading to the Cape until mid September. I'll be doing the same thing as last summer - camping and staying in small hotels/motels. In September, I might go back up to Maine like last year. I could stay there for a few months and come back to Boston, or who knows ... 😄
@@bostonwalkdrive7763 It's a good plan!! 😄 My plans for this summer aren't very different from yours either, I'll spend the summer like almost every year on the Costa Blanca, so don't doubt that there will be a few tours there 😆 Weather has been exceptionally hot for this time of the year here, we have practically had summer weather, so another very hot summer is coming! 🥵 Although just yesterday the weather changed abruptly and in some parts of Spain it has snowed!... Definitely the weather is crazy at this time of year.
