I've been with this band and their music from their first days, saw them on concert in Poland and took a shot with Andy. Muddy Manninen and his guitar imbedded themselves very well into the whole musical concept of Wishbone Ash from their early days. They are great band, very much underestimated by critics and the whole musical world. It's good though they have gained circles of great fans around the world.
Totally awesome guys! Been a fan of W.A. since 1971-1972 (Argus period). Seen you in concert in Florida circa 1971 (Miami Jai Alai Fronton) and at Western State College in Alamosa, Colorado November 1972.
Are you for real ??? You are obviously not a musician for a start or you would know the difference between a mono tone voice and a full range. The most important member of any band is the songwriter , but when you add , bass , vocals , production and even writing most of the guitar melodies himself you got one hell of a package. Martin was voted out because others were becoming jealous the aforementioned roles he had .
Also how can you compare Elton J's / Bernie T to Martins songwriting . Martin wrote the lyrics AND the music unlike the former duo . On top of that he played bass / produced and even wrote most of the guitar melodies .Powell's bass player is on record of saying how much he loves playing Martin's Bass lines. Anyone can copy but few can compose .
Monotone or Mono tone the fact is Powell IS NOT a lead singer . There is a massive difference between a backing vocalist and a lead vocalist . Powell isnt and will never be a lead vocalist . AND by the way I never said Martin wrote everything but he did write or co-wrote the vast majority of Ash's catalog . THIRD AND LAST , to ask someone to step down from lead vocal duty is the same as asking them to leave the band and save face. Did a new vocalist arrive on a permanent basis after that ..NO.
The ' best ' in music as you say is a matter of opinion . There is NO BEST in music only favourites. Music is an art , not a competition . You are not a musician obviously ,so in reality you are looking in from the outside , go play air guitar with your Flying V .
Martin has a much more interestibg voice than Andy, but if you can't sing in tune your voice is pretty useless. It's a shame though, cause Martin's a great basist. i would have love to seen him play with Wishbone Ash. Steve and Ted as well.

Awesome!
I've been studying and teaching guitar for many years and I keep saying: nothing beats WA melodic approach.
Looking forward to see them this evening in Oslo at a small pub, Herr Nilsen.
May be the angels are Here ...
Nice :-)

ASHes to ASHes...these cats entertain as well as challenge an audience - which may be why the public doesn't 'get' them - or even WANT them??

Bob Skeat is such a great bass player. He's just the wrong guy for this band.
Powell you can play but you cannot sing , pure mono-tone.
