@@mikefandango294 I wasn't trying to be rude, simply curious ! Sorry if it came across that way ... The description says it took 25 minutes to get through the station, so I imagine the train lost time, surely the driver wouldn't have done it on purpose ? Sorry again !!
@@ontherailsuk it’s a poor signalman, ( Kilmarnock box is known for having poor Signallers) He should hold the train back at Barrasie But won’t do this as they will be billed for delaying the train. If the driver holds back at the repeater signal, GB get charged for late running. This train needs to arrive at the signal protecting the junction at line speed giving the driver a chance. GB railfreight run the heaviest trains around here and are right on the limit. Getting stopped, leaf fall, tight curves, grease pots and gradient are all working against this train. You can see the slow speed fighting, by applying sand with each traction motor working independently to keep the train moving.
hang back at K74R signal til it goes green, doesn't help that there are 3 greaser's after the signal box on that curve. K74R is near Kilmarnocks football ground so you can quess the run up you need.
Nice video i have seen 66709 lots of times on heavy ballast trains i have never seen it like that before . The curve of the line and load did not help .
Looks like we neeed Type 7 power. In fact in those US videos you see 3 - 4 locos hauling ass.
Nothing wrong with that, driver has it in slow speed after being held on the tight bend/gradient for late passenger train out of Kilmarnock.
On notch 8? And that much smoke?
@@ontherailsuk slow speed can give max amps and max revs! So you’re not making much sense!?

@@mikefandango294 That makes much more sense now, many thanks

Slow speed control
wrong gear driver always know there load
They don’t have gears 😂😂
