Maybe I missed it but I don't think you compared images of the pro vs pro max both in 3x zoom. That would have been interesting as the pro has a dedicated 3x telephoto while the max would use a digital crop to achieve 3x. So in theory, the cheaper pro would give better images at arguably the more popular/useful 3x zoom length than the Max phone.
You don’t have a 3x zoom on the max. Digital crop isn’t a fair comparison 👍🏼
It would have been interesting to see how much better the dedicated 3x zoom on the pro would be compared to the max at 3x digital. In fact anything at zoom 3-5 may look a lot better on the pro. It may tip some people into buying the cheaper phone. I hear the max camera has a larger sensor so maybe it wouldn’t have been that big of a difference?
I wish the max had just added a 5x as an additional lens instead of replacing the 3x. Oh well.

@@RMtexI don’t get it, I watched lots of videos on TH-cam and 5 x zoom just seems to compress more of the background compared to the 3 x zoom, why would you want 3 x zoom when you can have 5 x ? What would be the advantage?
versatility. 120mm (5x) is not usable for variable situations, unlike 77mm from 3x @@DeejayGabOfficial

The 5x should have been on the smaller pro too…not everyone wants the brick size max.
It would be interesting to compare 3x zoomed images from both cameras. It would really show how good or bad is computational photography on the Pro Max versus native zoom on Pro.
Well it’s like comparing apples with oranges. You can’t compare a 24mm lens cropped in to 77 against a native 77mm lens.

@@PeterLindgren1 The reason I asked this question is that I heard some iPhone fanboys claiming that the 3x from Pro Max is as good as from Pro because "Apple's computational photography is so advanced..." I would like to prove them wrong because this is nonsense. No advanced computational photography can ever be as good as actual zoom lens. :)

I was testing the 5x lens in my pixel 8 pro and then i made the same in my 100-400 ultrasonic canon lens acopled to a EOS-1 and tough again that despite the god job in the phone 5mm never in life but never in the next 100 years they will have 20 years old optical zoom quality! A giant optical lens is just at another level

I can't believe these iphones 15 have only 2x zoom on cinematic mode. How come the iphone 13 pro max has a 3x zoom??? It got worse or am I mistaken. The cinematic mode with zoom that isn't digital would be the main reason for me to get a new iphone but I can't figure out which one I should get because the zoom information in cinematic mode comparison across iphone models is nowhere available....

I like my 15 Pro Max but it's just really too big :( i'd like to keep it for concert videos but handling is really a struggle. Switching back to the Pro soon.
I used to own Samsung Notes but, honestly, you just get tired of big phones eventually.
I own iphone 13 mini and I love that small size. Comfy to use even with one hand. I'm looking to upgrade to get more ram and telephoto lens and I'm really sad about the massive sizes of current flagships :(

I have a 14pm and wondering why the 4k 24fps and 30fps looks very jittery compared to other phones. Also, any tips for photographic style something to keep as standard(for photo).

24fps does look jittery . That’s normal , specially when you end up looking at 24fps and 30fps after watching a 60fps video .
@@gurnihal12 yeah but on the gopro 30 fps is ok, and on android as well, but on iphone(this is my first), it is noticeably more jittery. Anyway any tips on photographic style for instant nice jpegs?

Nice review, got the 13 Pro Max now and I might switch to 15 Pro Max when it gets readily available here. I have used my current one as main camera with the Insta360 Flow on a few assignments and that 5x zoom would be awesome to try out. Just like I got the Mavic 3 Pro for those extra focal lengths over my Air 2s :p
Did you shoot the aerial footage in Log? it doesn't look it. It looks very digital. Would you drone be able to carry the phone and an SSD? If not, there's no point using the iphone as drone footage without log, because than it'll look all digital like how it looks on your video.

Very nice video. I'm wondering if perhaps Apple is limiting the high FPS Log to external storage simply because of the file sizes? I'm guessing there's not a limit setting for the standard Camera app that allows you to only record so much?
If that's the case then maybe they're just concerned that if someone was blindly recording and used up all the space it could possibly crash the phone? No idea if that's a possibility but the one thing that came to my mind.
Might be. My thought was, maybe it is to prevent further overheating of the phone, because the (neural) processor can already warm up significantly when using the camera, and stressing the SSD at same time in warm/conditions maybe is too much at 60fps.

Hey Peter good video, there a nice handset with a few tweak from the iPhone 14, type c even do its just a standard one will now aloud to hook up an external memory. I shoot all my video on YT with the iPhone 13 Pro Max . which is a cheater way to do videos and now with that Blackmagic app it's great.Was that the digging out of your new home. It's kinda bummer that they didn't bring 5x to Pro and pushing customers towards Max, however the camera might be worth the extra cost and waiting for one month more. Still it's not nice. I like your ring btw, it looks like a proper gimbal.

I went from 12 pro max to 15 pro and love it. I would loved to have 5x but the lesser weight is so much more comfortable

Well this suck, as always great tutorial. For some reason my BM App does not have Apple Log under color space, but my Moment App does allow me to choose 4k 60, go figure.
he didnt mention how fast the battery drains when filming in log. not a good review.
Doesn’t drain more than when you film regularly. So should last you for about 2-3 hours ish.
Audio in the woods sounded way off - warbly and super digital "enhanced". What mic were you using? Besides that, incredible content!! I'm going to pass on this iteration because I already have a 14 Pro Max and see little reason to upgrade.

during the FPV, you can see micro jitters on the phone, that is why i stick with my sony A74 instead of phone or gopro.. nice video. appreciate the hard work. 😎

The Apple Camera app only records in ProRes HQ, and the data rate is too high for the internal storage at 4K60 - that's why it doesn't work without external storage.
I rlly hope they make cameras equal again on 16 pro & pro max like previous years 14 pro and older models.. I dont like pro max cuz its too big for my hand since im using my phone most of the time in one hand

I would not put the iPhone on an FPV without a vibration damper to much, those micro vibrations will ruin the cameras the same as if you have them on a motorcycle without a proper mount.

I would get the DJI mini pro 4 over the iPhone 15 pro max. The iPhone 15 pro max looks the same as the 14 pro max.
4K anything with an iPhone doesn't make any difference. It's weird how people obsess over it but most don't watch videos in 4K as it is and when they watch a TH-cam or Instagram video its usually on their phones. Most can't tell the difference even if there was one.
What are those bubble-I mean square lights doing on top of your head? Are they to keep you directed as to where the sun was on the coming up shortest daylight (if any) day of the year, December 21, 2023? Forget the iphone, the comedy outweighs the phone. Apple should just give u a little kickback under the table for such an innovative commercial. 😎😎
