Most companies dealing in cryptocurrencies are required to comply with KYC (Know Your Customer) and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) laws, particularly in developed countries. Unlike physical dollars hidden away, which cannot be traced to a specific location, transactions on public blockchains can be easily monitored by authorities through wallet addresses.
