    I have a magnum xl .80rfs that I am putting on a 10cc ultra stick. By the paperwork the magnum .80 is a reduced bore .91 vs a bored out or stroked .70. It has a range of 2000-12,000 so I am hopeful it will pull a 14x4W funfly at good rpm for slow speed aerobatics.

    Hey David.
    What is the best fuel nitro option to 4stroke in Your opinion? I'm asking couse you're running diferent fuels in diferent videos, sometimes 5% , sometimes more. Blaź is running 15-20, Friend of mine is using only 5%. During that you have big expirience I will follow You. Sorry for English but havn't use it since yares.
    Cheers, Kamil

      Well I do not tune my engines for maximum power. I let the prop generate the thrust needed. Personally I would fly with 5%-10% but no more. I have plenty of videos proving that the difference in max RPM between 5% to 15% is negligible. So why pay more for fuel with higher nitro content? It doesn't make sense to me, so I don't..

    Hey David iam wondering why iam getting black oil going in to my tank from the pressure line during break in does this still occur after breaking period.thanks a David for your thoughts

      @dmrcflyr2  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Metal on metal wear as part of the break in. Hopefully it should stop at some point, but if it is an ASP engine, who knows if it will stop. I seldom if ever had that on a Saito or OS engine.

      David McIntire thanks David I appriciate your help it is a saito 125a I’ll check it again on my next run.

      What!?!? A Saito doing that? How long has it done that? One run or more? Anytime the residue is black it is due to metal wear. I have never seen that on a new Saito engine that I can remember, but I have owned so many over the years too. I can say that the Saito's from the 2000's are of a bit lower quality than the older ones.

    I can't get mine to idle low enough do you think this is common for new engines or do you think ive got a duff one?

    • @dmrcflyr2
      @dmrcflyr2  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The engine you see in this video is new and the one in this video is an extremely low time engine as well. th-cam.com/video/7BYzLr54Fco/w-d-xo.html
      Unfortunately I cannot comment on your engine based on so little information. Define 'low enough'. What is yours idling at? What prop are you running? I have had 2 ASP FS80 engines this month and both ran extremely well and idled nice. It could be your setup, fuel, glow plug, etc.

      +David McIntire I can only get 2400 RPM reliably and I've tried a 12x6 and 14x8 as well as 3 different plugs

    • @dmrcflyr2
      @dmrcflyr2  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** 2400 RPM is a pretty respectable idle for any engine regardless of the prop. Why would you need anything lower?

    • @IICoopsII
      @IICoopsII 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +David McIntire my plane starts rolling on grass! and it's not very reassuring having the constant threat of a deadstick even at 2300 it sometimes cuts and at the very best becomes inconsistent with each stroke

    • @dmrcflyr2
      @dmrcflyr2  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm. Are you sure you have set the throttle stop screw to allow a lower RPM? And if so, does it just not hold a lower RPM? What happens? Does it just die right away? Have you done the idle pinch test to check the setting? Have you had dead sticks on landing? I mean landing on grass is easier due to the braking effect. Bring it in at the 2400RPM, and 1 foot from the ground chop the throttle for a full stall landing.

    I run a 13x6 apc and only get 9400 rpm. Also only about 2700 rpm idle. Only difference is I have a 2 1/2 spinner. Any ideas?

      Not nearly enough information to diagnose your issue.

      David McIntire thanks for the response. I really enjoy this engine and your videos. Very reliable runner! Inspired by your video I checked into my engine and round the intake valve was extremely loose. Astonished this engine ran.

      @dmrcflyr2  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh very good! You mean a screw on the manifold was loose?

    • @peavyrocks
      @peavyrocks 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      David McIntire I used feeler gauges to adjust my valves and the intake had almost 1 millimeter of gap!!! It's amazing it ran as good as it did, or even at all. I would imagine my fuel consumption will go up but I am acheiving the same results as you :)
      You are da man!

      No offense, but if you have not learned to search my channel by now and find what you need, well. I am not here to search and provide this for you. I have covered this many times here and that is WHY I made the videos.

    anyone know the crank thread size on this engine. I have one, and would like to use the Dubro screw on spinners.

      Ages? A simple Google search for glow engine crankshaft threads would have yeilded this information in about 10 seconds.
